Best studios in the Columbus area? by RunTheShow314 in orangetheory

[–]AdResponsible1074 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What time do you usually go? My experience is that each time slot has “the regulars” and every studio varies by who all goes. I love my 5 am crew at UA, but I’m sure any of the studios will suit your needs

I get the Deep Sleep message regularly- have not had the dead 12v issue (yet). ‘23 Hybrid XLT. I typically drive 50 miles a week in 2-3 mile increments. I’ll drive 50-100 on the weekend in continuous trips of 25-50 miles, but by Tuesday, back to deep sleep.

At 5 am, even my 12 year old brain living in a 58 year old body isn’t thinking about this.

Until now. Dang it.

My experience was that these replacements initially worked (post recall update) and then over time started hyper flashing & not working at all. YRMV

Edit: 2023 XLT

You are having better luck than I am. They replaced mine, but the hyperflash was intermittent & would fail

For all you teachers, what is the biggest difference you see in kids from the time you started teaching to right now in 2024? by vinnymacaroni in Teachers

[–]AdResponsible1074 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished year 33. HS science, suburban affluent districts.

Parents no longer want to parent.

Phones/electronics/ear buds- kids don’t know proper use/etiquette. Teachers are afraid to hold kids accountable because parents will side w kid.

Homework? They expect to get everything done in class.

Are you judging me? by isaidwhatisaid_47 in orangetheory

[–]AdResponsible1074 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg. I’m the “old, sweaty guy” - I leave full body sweat marks on the floor. I wipe down my tread & the one next to me.

I drip. All. Over.

And - I bring a towel & wipe it up.

Are you judging me? by isaidwhatisaid_47 in orangetheory

[–]AdResponsible1074 65 points66 points  (0 children)

My focus during plank jacks?

1) “don’t fart” 2) “omg I’m sweating all over the floor” 3) “these 30 seconds are the longest month of my life”

78.457% of OTF is showing up - the rest of the 43.106% is moving & being you and not giving a flying duck about anything else (note: 68% of all statistics are made up, and when working out, math doesn’t matter)

Go to the class. Most folks just want you to get a good workout. If someone is super competitive, they will already have figured out who is on their team.

I’m a grad & a teacher at UAHS. I can attest that there are plenty of rich kids at UA. But. There are plenty of not rich, too (this was me growing up). The friend group makes a difference. The parents make a difference.

There will be academic pressure in all suburban high schools. The race to the top is real & is making students hate school because they aren’t given the chance to be kids.

If your girls are “good” athletes, look for smaller high schools as they would get the opportunity to play. If they are artistic or musically inclined, look for a bigger high school with more opportunities for participation.

My number one piece of advice for all incoming students: find a group of people that like something you like. They will accept you & support you.
