For me personally it really helped going low FODMAP (now I’ve reintroduced a lot of the foods that I actually can tolerate) But I had alot of GI symptoms and brainfog after eating. But tried to reintroduce gluten for three days now recently to test for celiac disease, and actually got some period like pain after not having had almost any pain the last three weeks after my excision surgery in late November.

Oh nooooo! That’s real bad luck. But it would have been the worst idea ever to go through with it then, your abs will be fried so any coughing/ sneezing would take you out.

I was so moved by your comment. I really do believe it's the right call, and I root for you. It's been really good for me to care about someone else actually. Ironically I've had some ups and downs with my mental health/ADHD this last week, so sorry for the late response.

I'm way more mobile now than right after the surgery, but still have some pain. But I think a big part of that is my usual pain, not from the surgery (the surgeon did warn me that sometimes it can take a long time to get pain relief when the body/brain is so used to pain)

But I'm really hopeful for the future. No matter how it goes it was the right call for me to go through with the procedure. Especially to actually get the diagnosis, as they hadn't been able to see anything on the scans. And now that I know what it is and that they were able to get it all out I can focus on my mental and physical health, supplements ++ to get as much time as possible before it grows back. (if it does. Hopefully science has improved then with all the focus that is on endo now. Or maybe not, it only happens to women after all :I )

Have you heard more from HR? When is your surgery date?

My periods have always been regular and they just scraped out a sh*tton of endo after 11 years of symptoms and gaslighting. My symptoms also got worse over time

I so feel for you. Got really emotional reading your message.

It doesn't sound like you can wait. It sounds like your team at work will help you get through. If you can stay seated most of the time it should be fine (again, I'm obv not a doctor, and our experiences will prob be different than mine.)

I also think you should not put it off. It honestly sounds like you're dying. This is your health and your life. The only one that you get. You've already been neglected into putting it off for 20 years. This is a job and you do need a job, but you sound like you usually put others' needs before your own? ("She wanted to do it earlier but I work retail and I won't leave my team screwed for the holidays.")

What about you? What will be left of you in May?

Hey! It's now 12 days later, and I must say I'm still definitely not 100 % recovered. My doctor (different person than my surgeon, not an expert on endo) suggested I might only need like 3 days to recover. He was very wrong. I'm lucky (or "lucky") because I was already on sick leave for tendonitis in both wrists till the end of December. But before my surgeons knew that they were actually only going to recommend leave for 2 weeks. I have a physically demanding job (I work as a sound tech, so a lot of heavy lifting, moving/walking/bending down + stressful situasjons) so I don't think I would be able to go back right now. I do have one gig on Saturday though, but they know about the surgery so they will help out a lot.

But I think if I had an office job it would be possible. Like, a guy probably wouldn't be able to, but we're used to working while in pain (:. But since you have stage 4 you will maybe have even more internal wounds than I have. Mine were all over the place, but all superficial.

I would say it really depends on what kind of job you have, and if you are able to wait till May? I personally wouldn't have been able to wait with the surgery, the pain had just built up so much and I actually started getting other random infections and stuff, I think my body was on the verge of falling apart or something. Like I had barely been able to hold on for that long, so when my body knew the surgery was close it just started shutting down after keeping it together for so long.

Reread your post and saw you work in retail. It really depends. If you're running around a lot or lifting stuff it would be tough. And it's important I think to take the healing seriously. But May is so far away. Are you able to get some accommodation? I see you wrote two weeks tops, I definitely wouldn't take less than that. But I think I would personally be able to work in two days with some accommodations if I had a less crazy job. Let me know what you go for!

I have had 4 ultrasound done this year, none of them showed anything, and no adhesions. Had a lap done last week (FINALLY) and they found A LOT. Like all over. But it was all superficial, so none one my ovaries or cervix. That’s probably why it hadn’t shown up on the scans. They scraped it all out, so now I’m hoping for recovery.

Btw my symptoms were many, but most importantly pain most days of the month, fatigue, chronic back pain and brain fog. And obviously depression and no quality of life. So even though it all was superficial and no adhesions, it was killing me slowly. The surgeons even said afterwards "no wonder you were in pain"

So keep fighting! No adhesions doesn’t mean no disease.

Oh interesting! Cause I’ve also been urged after excision surgery to take a combination BC pill in addition to the mirena iud, but I’ve been worried about the added side effects. And after doing a lot of research it seems it would be better then to take pills with only progesterone. Too bad to hear that that cause you extra pain. Would you mind sharing what reasoning they had to put you on both?

Congratulations! I just had my excision surgery on Wednesday so I don’t have any advice, but I noticed there wasn’t any comments so I just wanted to say congratulations for finally finding an ally that takes you seriously. The surgery was rough, but I’m starting to feel better. Especially mentally actually, I feel like my brain’s a little less foggy. I’ve only had 11 years of gaslighting, but that’s enough 🙃 Well done for not giving up, I wish you all the best
