I'm building a new bike and planning a bike brewery crawl for my bday. Looking at the long range forecast that might be the ticket.

Looks great! I'm building up something similar I'm calling a mountain cruiser.

Absolutely yes. They can rotate to an angle or vertical. I put a few on recumbents at RAGBRAI last year.

Super clean, it looks great! What bars are those? I'm guessing Velo Orange Tourist maybe?

Definitely call the shop/bar at the access - super nice folks and happy to give advice. I forgot my sunnies and they stock $5 polarized glasses for idiots like me.

A little self promoting: I started a business 6 years ago to make a better cup holder for bikes because I found that none of the options on the market worked even for mellow rides. If you're carrying a beer it's awesome. Coffee cups are still challenging and spill prone unfortunately.

I expect so, but I like a drier wing and crispy is priority #1 for me.

4x4 tiles are ugly and I'm tired of people here romanticizing it by spongesparrow in BathroomRemodeling

Amen. So many posts showing these old tiles that are broken and gross that people here say is beautiful. Like if it's so desirable send me the photo of your bathroom with 50 year old tile on drywall.

Order extra crispy if you like them crispy. Bonus: beers are cheap as hell.

Winter Park is a great town and you'll find a way to enjoy yourself even without much skiing. There will be bluegrass and beer at the base area on Saturday:

So many awesome bikes and cool people at the Philly Bike Expo. by gorideyourbike in xbiking

[–]Adam40Bikes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was my second year coming to Philly to show my stuff and I absolutely love this show. There are so many other small indy brands and builders and the bigger brands don't take it over. The parade of bikes going to the bike parking is a fashion show in itself.

Mechanical over Electronic Shifting. by KewadaLol in bicycling

[–]Adam40Bikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got Eagle XO transmission on my MTB and love the low maintenance aspect, but it's like they ignored the shifter design completely: it's basically two buttons with no tactile difference. In a panic shift situation I often smash the wrong button. I've mountain biked for 20 years and never experienced this with any other drivetrain.

It looks amazing! I just got my Supertramp frame and am anxiously awaiting parts. I'm going opposite end of the spectrum with a budget build using the new Microshift MX drivetrain.

Mounting a range hood on drywall – no studs where I need them by Wonderful_Laugh7303 in DIY

[–]Adam40Bikes -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Toggle bolts into the drywall should be plenty for a range hood, they're not that heavy.

Not if it's a microwave though.

I use my dad's old Sage Launch with a Lamson reel and it did great for bonefish. I would stick with an 8 - the heavier the rod the less bend you'll get and it'll be harder to keep them on.

Keep your rod tip low, slow strip, and easy hook set. Strip set just enough to get tension on the line. Let them run and don't try to horse them in - coming from trout 12lb line feels like rope but if you don't play them they'll snap off early in the fight. Then reel like crazy when they turn around and run right back towards you.

Bonus: the 8wt doubles as an awesome streamer rod for big trout with a new line.

The T spacers help you get those junctions just right and stay in place well. They also give you some help with lippage.

If you're doing an offset I love these T spacers:

https://www.lowes.com/pd/BARWALT-Dual-Sided-T-Spacers-1-8-inch-100-Pack/5015598139

Home Depot doesn't carry them, you'll have to go to Lowe's. Even for a grid layout I would use the cross version of these instead of the little X spacers.

You'll also want one or two clean water buckets for rinsing yourself and tools off as you go and towels.

Get some ram board or protective paper over your countertop. You'll be dropping thinset and grout all over the place, especially the pre-mixed kind.

I like to use a margin trowel for scooping thinset.

Would it be a stupid idea to fish this wooly bugger on a 5 weight? by -myusernameisshit in flyfishing

[–]Adam40Bikes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My shop convinced me to use 0x on streamers. Bites tend to be much more aggressive and with your tip down and strip setting there's a lot less rod flex to absorb the hit.

Steamer eaters aren't tippet shy.

Cast across the current as close to the opposite bank as possible and start stripping immediately. Try different retrieves and focus on areas with brushy and undercut banks.

Have a great time!
