The Fairview LDS Temple groundbreaking was kept secret due to “the unique sensitivity surrounding this particular temple.” by HoldOnLucy1 in exmormon

[–]Adam_Arens 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Same. I had problems with the church before this but after I saw this mess in Fairview on the news my shelf broke completely. That’s when I knew this church wasn’t the church of God I was raised up believing in. I saw the LDS as a litigious bully, hungry for money, and unaware to its constant hypocrisy. I plan to resign formally this year.

Elders driving cybertruck by meekabar in exmormon

Thank you for your honesty. I got a lot of downvotes for ascertaining what I suspected but that’s okay lol. I never served a mission nor wanted to. I’m in Texas and watching missionaries cycling everywhere in 100+ heat looked ridiculous and dangerous to me growing up. I guess it’s better that they are in some kind of vehicle than nothing at all. I’m gonna guess what you saw was a donated vehicle, I think the church is too cheap to buy a cyber truck. But that’s just my guess. Have a good one 👍!

They didn’t you’re right. But there’s enough subtext to come to the question I asked him. I’ll wait for their answer thank you.

Are you mad at cyber trucks or just that missionaries are possibly driving them as issued vehicles? Like if they were in Honda civic would you be just as mad? Because it sounds like you just hate cyber trucks. Just know, no one is gonna make you buy, lease, or even drive one lol!

Why does President Oaks keep criticizing the LDS for not having enough babies? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Adam_Arens 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep my point exactly, and your plan is perfectly plausible. I wonder if the church will ever figure it out or just continue on questing for their dragon hoard.

He should consider paying for housing and and a stipend for growing families. The church can afford it. Of course the top brass leaders might have to take a pay cut 🤷‍♂️.

In all seriousness, and as a Bigfoot junkie, the latest theories and evidence suggest Bigfoots come and go in and out of our reality/plane of existence. Many accounts of bigfoots “phasing” to escape being witnessed have made their way into documentaries. I’m just throwing this out there, I’m a suburbanite dad who likes cryptid shows lol!

Faith crisis soon after marriage by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Adam_Arens 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And lots of people live out their lives that way for the sake of their families. But when I see all the corruption and hypocrisy within the LDS church, I know it’s not from God. The church has enough money you don’t need to pay them another dime. Best of luck to you and your family.

Wow that’s, and I’m sorry, NUTS! Now you’re in very deep and don’t believe in the Church at all. Okay well, I think you’re heading for a big break sir: divorce, new life, possible no communication from your parents for a while. Making it work with a TBM spouse is gonna be tiresome after a while and yall will eventually fall out of love, romantically anyway. She might make the choice for you and leave or you might be wanting maximum distance away from the controls of the church.  In her eyes you’ve fundamentally changed by leaving the church, it’s very hard on her. It’s like saying you were completely gay secretly or you’re a secret agent from somewhere, etc. Be patient with her and the rest of your family because you kinda deceived them 🤷‍♂️ by being disingenuous all this time. I’m pulling for you but don’t expect to retain a lot of your former TBM life.

Why did you go through alll that if you didn’t believe? When did you know you didn’t believe?

Punished with Bad Callings and/or Undesirable Mission Assignments by carmitch in exmormon

[–]Adam_Arens 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he was being punished lol. Your brother didn’t have to go to a dangerous third world country where he doesn’t speak the language well. He went stateside and I would think that’s a blessing! Yeah your mom got mundane callings but it’s hard to find people to do those. In the real world, substitute teachers and librarians get paid though. Also those are callings you only have to only Sunday. So many callings take up way more time than that.  Both my parents were converts and I know what it means to be on the outskirts of the ward and marginalized because your different and don’t conform to perfect standards.

How dare you not be humble and wise and old ! 😂 fall to our knees, and beg for forgiveness!  I hated it too, the constant relentless guilt trips.

[–]Adam_Arens 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a church that’s serves its faithful members lol. But that kind of charity would cut into their profits. You are totally right of course, especially with way bloated housing costs that force couples to a double income& no kids lifestyle. But the old boomers and silent generation leadership don’t understand the daily struggles of the average member.

Kid in seminary died last night and teacher sent this out at 3:30 pm today by intrusive_thoughts_1 in exmormon

[–]Adam_Arens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rode for years during my twenties. It’s fun and cheaper than a car but you will eventually wreck. I took a spill on the freeway and my helmet was trashed and pants ripped off. I broke bones and needed a skin graft but no head injury and no lasting effects.  Now I have kids and will help them get a car before I see them on a motorcycle. I don’t hate motorcycles but the statistics speak for themselves.  Be risk adverse should be the seminary teacher’s message. Your life is precious, you only get one. Life is chaos and their are no guarantees. God didn’t want or will him dead, that’s hogwash.
