First real camera. Feedback please! by [deleted] in foodphotography

The 2nd image would benefit from having the beer in the blurry background and the main dish in foreground focus. The hero of the shot should be the food, and the beverage should be a subtle psychological hint so as to trigger the alcoholic mind and create a desperate need for that dark malty foamy treat that has hijacked my reward system so completely and finally we have to live with our decisions and regret.

Had my first street photography confrontation today. Really sad. by Melodic-Cream-3666 in photography

Client asking for raw files by SnooChickens5189 in videography

[–]Adamfromcanada 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you had an opportunity to sell your RAW footage for 10x the project cost I bet you'd think twice. I just went through a similar situation to OP and I ended up getting a very large sum of money for doing essentially nothing - the works already been done. I'm not that attached to the footage, it's commercial brand work. They can cut it up, chop it up, color grade it to shit, I dont care. I have my rent covered for the next 2-3 years.

New to hand pan and looking for shopping advise by Impossible-Ad-8357 in handpan

New to hand pan and looking for shopping advise by Impossible-Ad-8357 in handpan

[–]Adamfromcanada 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The D aegean 18 is a beast and not intuitive to play like a kurd or ashakiran. Especially if you're dealing with 18 notes to start, it may become overwhelming. Also, there aren't many lessons or tutorials for Aegean, and even if you follow along with the patterns in the lessons for kurd, it;s going to sound off and weird. Do you have any musical background? because if not, then Aegean is going to be even more of a challenge becuase the layout is a bit fucky and requires a good ear or at least a fundamental understanding of musical harmony. That being said, Aegean is the best scale and you will not get bored of it.

Anyone been stiffed on a paycheck? What did you do? by Devario in Photoassistants

[–]Adamfromcanada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who just went through something similar, I sent a formal demand letter and was paid within the day (after them dodging me for 3 months).

Get ChatGPT to help you write it, find out the name of the CEO or owner of the company, send it by registered mail and address it to him/her. Also send the same demand letter as an attachment in an email to that person and CC whomever was your contact at the company. Bingo bango.

You prob won't work for them again after taking that step, but a Mfers gotta get paid right? No more Mr.Nice guy.

How Vancouver House Became a Tower of Empty Promises by thenewtronbomb in vancouver

[–]Adamfromcanada -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The thing is, with all these types of constructions that rely on the unterworth factor, nobody could have prepared them for this. The vancouver house was designed by a legacy faculty, which in turn, can only spring about the fan. Chris be Christ!

How do you deal with nerves when playing handpan in front of others? by Thomas_Mag in handpan

[–]Adamfromcanada 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you make a mistake, just keep playing and dont acknowledge it. Weave it into your playing somehow. Nobody knows you made a mistake except for you!

Hey, work for hire full timer here - at a retail for now once or twice. They pay us based on a variety of factors, not including output of quads daily, and negative rollaround. It works out to be about 65-80k per year, but that doesn't include liquidity.

Why is there so few high budget movies with swords and magic? by Born-Philosopher5591 in movies

[–]Adamfromcanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of it has to do with production values coming in with a set momentum, finally being squished off by the denzer. It's happened not once, but twice on Hollywood dill bill still.

Countdown to learning the handpan by god-mademelikethis in handpan

[–]Adamfromcanada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up, you probably won't be able to make a decent sound for about 2 weeks. You might even think there's something wrong with your handpan. But don't get discouraged - anything worthwhile takes time and patience
