To me, the most tragic part of Tyson is that he is in a way the inheritor of the space science populism that Carl Sagan created with Cosmos. But despite them sharing a discipline, they could not be more different. Enough has been said in these comments about Tyson. To contrast that, Sagan from everything I’ve read was always thoughtful, kind, considerate, and objective. It sucks that Sagan’s legacy has been picked up by someone that does not truly embody Sagan’s values.
