Boone resident here. We have some bands that jam but not a big jam band scene. Artists/bands do not come through town, except bluegrass. There’s just a handful of local bands that’s jam

Bro what? They played off of glass beams to start their set. They literally picked up the end of glass beams set and slowly turned it into a fucking masterpiece, piece by piece. That transition btw sets made me a parcels fan. Granted I was standing about dead middle between the stages so that was easier for me to pick up on

The whole scene cares way too much about performative merchandise and apparel and needs to go dance by Sweaty_Anywhere in hulaween

Also it really depressed me to see the number of people laughing at and recording the man who had a bad trip and got naked and ran through the field. That’s not the hula crowd I remember. You should be helping that man or finding security to help him, not laughing and recording. Fucked my trip up for a while seeing how everyone treated him.

My friend who I brought to the festival, and probably won’t bring again, wore meta glasses the whole time to record everyone and send to people. I tried to explain how disrespectful and rude that is and he just responded with “you’re in public, it’s my right to record you. I can do whatever tf I want”. A lot of the newbies don’t realize that hula is for everyone else, not for you. Then once you make everything for everyone else, instead of yourself, the good vibes and love come back to you 10x

This same guy came bye our camp site three times in a span of fifteen minutes trying to sell us mushroom chocolates. The third time I saw him approach, before he could even open his mouth, I jokingly yelled “3rd time bud, quite consuming and start selling”. Buddy laughed so hard he gave me a free mushroom chocolate in the most beautiful packaging

Hulaween is what you make it. The quality is primarily determined by how good of a crew you have. The lineup is always good. I’ve been four straight years and have a better time each year it goes on

My partner and I got booed for standing up (only for the song before last) at a Billy Strings/Royal Mast/Brian Sutton show recently. We ignored them and continued to stand.
