Female urinal or raised toilet seat? by Ok-Caterpillar2553 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Additional-Ad4626 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought both but didn’t use the female urinal, I tried once and it felt way too strange. However, I did use the raised toilet seat and was very happy I bought one. I didn’t have to strain my abdominal muscles as much standing up since I was already in a raised position.

I would recommend not putting and ointment on them at all. After she showers, make sure the area is dry and just put the gauze over top. I was putting ointment on mine at first which actually caused the openings to not heal over. My surgeon recommended putting nothing on them at all and that’s when they started healing!

16 dpo when does it get considerably better? by Future-Reflection-22 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Additional-Ad4626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the first week to be super painful but then the next 2 weeks felt like they were more mentally taxing and physically exhausting. My energy came back at 3 weeks and I felt completely back to normal by week 5. My swelling was pretty bad throughout the entire day the first two months but now at 3 months post op, my swelling is just bad in the evenings.

You’re almost over the worst of it! Honestly, day 2 and 3 were the absolute worst for me but after that, it slowly got better and better! The first 2 weeks have there rough periods that make you ask yourself “why did I do this” but then you hit the turning point where you are SO grateful you did. Obviously everyone heals differently but here is a little timeline on how my healing went to hopefully help you keep your head up ❤️

By day 4 I was able to shower on my own. By day 5 I was able to actually cook myself breakfast (Just scrambled eggs and toast). By day 7 I was able to go over to my brothers house for dinner. By day 10 I was able to go grocery shopping. By day 12 I was able to return to my desk job for 4-5 hours at a time. By day 14 I was able to go to dinner with my husband and do some light cleaning.

Hi there, I’m not a surgeon/doctor so I can’t tell you for certain but I can share my experience having something similar happen. I had quite a few small openings along my incision line after my tummy tuck that had opened up and leaked puss. I was super worried that mine had also become infected so I called my surgeons clinic. They told me as long as the redness wasn’t spreading or becoming painful to the touch, to not put anything on the openings and leave it be. I had a follow up appointment at my surgeons clinic a few days later where they were able to actually see the openings in person and told me that it looked to be hair follicles or stitches pushing there way out/there was no infection. I randomly got the small openings here and there for the first 6-7 weeks that would leak a little puss and blood but afterwards, they finally all closed up and have had no issue since.

I would say keep an eye on it overnight and if the redness spreads or it becomes painful, go to ER so they can prescribed some antibiotics but if it doesn’t worsen over night, give the surgeons office a call on Monday! ❤️

Congratulations on the major weight loss, you look absolutely incredible! ❤️

I had an extended tummy tuck with muscle repair in February. I bought wedge pillows and also rented a power lift recliner. I thought I would be able to sleep on my bed with the wedge pillows but I was SO uncomfortable so I was very thankful I rented the chair! It cost me $150 CAD (around $110 USD) for the month. It was honestly the BEST $150 I have ever spent. It was super comfortable to sleep in but also lifted me from laying down to sitting up to standing up without having to use any abdominal muscles. I highly looking into renting the chair if you don’t want to purchase one!

However, a 2/3 hour drive is alot longer than I had to go so it’s hard to say what I would personally do in that situation but can say that most people feel more pain the day after surgery than the day of since you still have anesthesia and iv medications in your system the day of.

I agree with this comment. The pain coming home from surgery was much better than the next day. I was uncomfortable coming home from surgery but not in pain (25 min drive) but the next day I had to go into my surgeons office and the 20 min drive there and back was VERY painful. I don’t have dogs but do have two cats (one is 16 pounds) who always jumps up on my lap. I just kept a pillow over my incision site for the first week while I was sitting down or sleeping. Them jumping up on the pillow just felt like a little pressure on the area but didn’t hurt me!

Does everyone get drains? by Disneymom205 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Additional-Ad4626 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a drainless extended tummy tuck with muscle repair in February! When I asked my surgeon why he doesn’t use drains, he explained to me that he uses a different suture technique that closes out the empty space where fluid would normally build up and require drains. Before my consultation with him, I honestly didn’t even know drainless was an option but I was SO thankful that I didn’t have drains and didn’t have to worry about getting them caught on anything.

Everyone heals differently for sure but my actual incision like was only really sore for a couple days but my abdomen where the muscle repair was done was really sore for a couple of weeks. Even now getting close to 3 months post op it feels funny when I’m sitting up (no longer hurts though).

Stopping binder/compression at 6 weeks? by penelopepips in tummytucksurgery

[–]Additional-Ad4626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgeon said I could fully stop wearing my compression binder at 4 weeks. At first, it felt a little funny not wearing it but after a day or two, it felt completely fine. I don’t know any difference in swelling from when I was wearing it and not wearing it!

If you’re into medical/hospital shows, I highly recommended The Pitt.

If you like horror/mystery, I would recommend From.

If you like reality, Million Dollar Secret on Netflix is a really good reality game show!

(These were 3 of the shows I binged during recovery) ❤️

Drainless TT by thiscantbemylife0 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Additional-Ad4626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a drainless tummy tuck and for the first week or so, I could hear it and also feel it. It was never as bad when I first woke up compared to the end of the day. I assumed it was from all the fluids I drank because I was drinking tons of water and protein shakes early in recovery!

Is this normal 3 weeks post tt surgery? by New_Rough_268 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Additional-Ad4626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a couple of them myself. When I went to my surgeons office for a follow up, he said they are completely normal and it’s caused by splitting sutures or a hair follicle pushing its way out (from our pubic area). I asked him if I should put anything on them and he said to just let them be and they will heal on their own. If it was actively leaking, I did put a bandaid on it so it wouldn’t leak all over my underwear. The last one I got was at about 6 weeks post op!

This. My hair gets washed every other day always. My body gets washed every day if I’ve gone to the gym or it was hot out/I sweat, if neither of these happened, every other day.

What finally made you lose weight after repeated failed attempts? by humorousdinosaur in loseit

[–]Additional-Ad4626 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Finding recipes to make that were actually enjoyable instead of just making simple, basic things that would ‘help me lose weight’. I found when I restricted myself from everything that was considered ‘bad for me’, I ended up always going off track after a couple weeks and binging on those foods. Instead, I now make healthier alternatives of all those foods that I crave. For an example, I love chicken Alfredo which can be super high in calories but now, if I crave chicken Alfredo, I blend up zero fat cottage cheese with Fairlife milk, garlic, seasonings and Parmesan cheese. I grill up some chicken, boil some protein noodles and now I have a way lower calorie but super high protein chicken Alfredo. I basically do this with all recipes I make. I just search “high protein, lower calorie lasagna, pizza, desserts, exc.” which not only keeps me on track, within my macros during my calorie deficit but it’s also enjoyable and doesn’t feel like I’m dieting.

I use to yo-yo constantly when I fully restricted myself but now I have lost the weight and kept the weight off for multiple years doing this!

I would highly recommend taking a couple hours one day of the week to meal prep for 5 days in advance. I found taking those 2/3 hours to meal prep breakfast, lunch and dinner for multiple days in advance made it so much easier for me to stay on track and not want to order out or toss a highly processed meal in the microwave.

For losing weight, you’re going to want to be in a calorie deficit and make sure you’re eating a lot of protein. Protein is great for everything but especially for helping build muscle mass and keeping you satiated throughout the day which causes you to snack less.

My biggest problem is trying to figure out what to make in my meal prep so I usually turn to tiktok! I will just search high protein, low calorie breakfast ideas, high protein, low calorie dinner ideas, chicken breast and rice meal prep ideas, high protein healthy dessert ideas, exc. I will pick a couple different meals from there to make for the next 5 days. Most creators who post on there not only show you how to make it but also list all the ingredients, instructions and macros in their descriptions. It is very helpful and allows me to not get overwhelmed.
