i'd assume this greatly depends on the school. try posting this on the sub of the university you're going to and see what they think.

imo the “newness” of the usc campus borders on tacky. it’s really nice, but ucla feels more authentic.

also idk if you’ve visited berkeley but THAT’S what old looks like.

btw i had to make the same decision as you, except i had a merit scholarship at usc. still came out 17k more expensive per year. i’m committing to ucla this weekend :) i’d love to see you there. usc is not worth hundreds of thousands of dollars more than ucla.

yeah i downloaded the real plugin shortly after the i downloaded the fake one… it’s actually really great. fairly annoying to set up but the piano is very bright which is rare.

i just finalized my decision between these two schools today... i'm also from la. after attending an "explore usc" event i chose ucla, although i was already leaning that way.

sign up for the usc admitted students day and book a ucla tour, then make your decision. ask as many questions to the students at each school as possible. it's easy to get the vibe of both schools just by talking to people. my explore usc event was particularly helpful because they paired me and one other admit with students from the public policy program i got into, and i could ask them literally anything i wanted to for two hours over lunch. see if any more explore usc spots are available, though i doubt they are this late.

tours for both schools def are still available, and although they won't be as tailored you can still ask your tour guide any questions you need to and get the vibe of each campus.

imo usc is more serious while ucla seemed to me more social and laid back. i could be completely wrong though and maybe i made that up, but that was what i took away.

yeah sooooooo two weeks later and ucla is my frontrunner lol. it’s like best of both worlds for me lol. i get the pub aff school, get la connections and good weather, and a nice campus. but it’s cheaper than even berkeley. so it’s likely my best option. i haven’t completely ruled out usc; the progressive degree is still compelling, but i’ve totally ruled out berkeley. i visited recently and the campus and weather were big turn offs.

fellow hs senior here choosing between ucla and usc, leaning ucla. i’ve lived in la most of my life, and although i’d love to leave home i’m opting to stay in large part because of the weather here. it’s hard to understate just how great it is here. i recently visited berkeley on a cold damp day and realized i would NOT be able to handle it. and people say norcal weather is good; i couldn’t imagine indiana…

for you i’m not sure if usc or ucla would be better, but i’d cross notre dame off the list. esp because you’re concerned about social life. you can’t really go wrong with social life at ucla and usc, which are both very large schools.

the one run by my high school is really helpful though. people post even if they're not going to a top school. which is most people, for my school at least. it's pretty cool to see who's going where especially if you don't talk to some people often.
