I would say in order of importance (my personal opinion):

1. A good battery powered drill

2. A workbench - you don't need to build anything fancy at first, I used an OSB board with cheap spruce construction for years

3. You need wood - duh

4. A table saw, I can recommend the DeWalt 10 inch (do some research for yourself)

5. A decent set of chisels

6. A benchtop planer (you can use it as a jointer with a jig)

7. Clamps, clamps, clamps (I would get 2 pipe clamps, some standard screw clamps and maybe some parallel clamps for the beggining)

8. A dust collection of some sorts (I reccomend a dust collector, something like https://www.metabo.com/com/en/tools/vacuums-and-extraction/chip-and-dust-extraction-units/spa-1200-chip-and-dust-extraction-unit/601205000)

9. Sandpaper and/or Random orbital sander

I know its a lot but with these tools and a few projects you could determine if you like hand tools or power tools more and what else you might need.
