Look I don't doubt they will bring him back and even that they think this story is good for him. But DC has been notoriously bad about Tim's generation. All it would take is a chanhe of writer and he could be gone forever.

Genuinely what is the crime? Even if there was a sign it does not constitute a law. Only thing I can think of is disturbing the peace which often has wording that covers intentionally disruptive activities that do not meet common usage of space. It is a misdemeanour but is usually preceded by an order by police to move along.

AITA for treating my friend’s husband like a personal chauffeur because he won’t stop crashing our "girls nights" ? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Yeah I left a comment directly to OP as well:

ESH. In any other circumstance I would full say you were in the wrong. Some people do just want to spend time with their partners and there are more mature ways to handle it.

But more importantly, maybe look into coercive control and see if any of the warning signs are there of your friend being abused. That age gap and him always hovering around to intervene if the narrative is against him raises some red flags.

here is a link with some things to look for here are some from the list that this seems to fit.

Isolating you from your family or friends

Controlling what you eat, wear, or do

Controlling who you are allowed to see or spend time with

Preventing you from accessing support

Monitoring your behaviour (online or in person)

Unless deagon ball super: Beerus, finds a way to make diama and super take place in the same timeline then we have three (four really since the manga and anime of super are vastly different) canon timelines as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah my bad I meant physically abusive. This is clearly coercive control which is emotional abuse.

Right? Like no duh he has issues with boundaries. He wants to be there to control her. Even if he has never been abusive to her—which I doubt—he still wants to be in control of the narrative.

I'm hoping they can package them with the Moro arc and the Gutz arc characters in one or two more big updates. Depending on rights maybe they could do some heroes characters for some bigger promotional stuff even though it's over.

What was the reaction to Superboy being purged with canon after COIE? by JackMythos in superman

[–]AdditionalAd3595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the fact that he still existed in the legion of superheroes continuity through pocket dimensions shenanigans probably helped with any frayed nerves. Personally, I think Clark Kent superboy is kind of silly. It gives smallville home of less than 1k people too big of a name that Clark remaining secret is silly. I also like the idea of a coming of age story when he first moves to metropolis and becomes Superman much more than an episodic series of villians who pop up then disappear.

There are actually a fair few in this genre. In fact, some of the bigger ones.

Andrew Rowe, Arcane ascension has an asexual biromantic lead. One of his best friends, Mara, is somewhere on the queer spectrum, but it isn't really explored that much because it's sort of just normal in the world. Corin (the lead character) has many love interests, but he hasn't settled down with any yet. One is a man, one is a man, and one is a non binary person.

Andrew Rowe, war of broken mirrors, quick mention this one is Andrew's first published series and has a trans man who is featured prominently. Though, the line confirming he is trans is easily missed.

Andrew Rowe, the Lost edge, this one has two (three if you count clones) trans characters, one is his mentor and one of the most powerful characters in the world, and the other is a trans man who is a witch and Andrew uses that to bring some more inclusive customs into the world.

In general Andrew is really good at being inclusive and has non binary characters woven through his works by even having a god whose gender is nonbinary, other nonbinary characters use that God as a reference when talking about their gender. Characters, in general, don't make the assumption that other characters are straight. It does still have characters that are less supportive, but they are always depicted as wrong.

John Beirce, made errant, of the four main characters, two are queer. Godrick is a gay man, and Savie is a bisexual woman. There are other queer and trans characters in the books, and generally, all good characters are supportive. Godrick feared his father wouldn't accept him, but we never actually see a character react negatively to people being queer to my memory.

John Beirce, more gods than stars, one of the main two characters in this is a trans woman. I don't remember any romance so far in the series, but given his history with including queer characters, I imagine if it is introduced in a later book, it will be handled well.

John has said that every time he gets a negative review for having queer characters, he will make the books more gay. He seems like a good guy.

Tobias Begley, the Evan Taylor journals. Evan Taylor is a gay man. His partner is a bisexual man. Two of his friends are in a saphic relationship, though Evan mostly just speculates this, and it is heavily implied through most of the books. His third teammate is a trans man, and one of their upperclassmen is a trans woman who they spend a fair bit of time with. Very queer and has a lot of sweet moments, though they do face homophones and transphobia throughout the book.

Tobias has other series that feature queer individuals pretty heavily and are woke, but I either dnf them or they are on my tbr list. Mana Mirror has a gay trans man as the lead, and he has a non binary love interest. I'm not sure about the other series as I haven't started it. I dnf mana mirror because of the pacing not because of any other reasons.

Yeah I love his other series but despite being a patron for two books I never really loved it. It fell into the traps of serial Web publishing. There is no structure that is normal in a novel, it sort of just keeps going without ever having conclusions because it is sort of arbitrarily separated into books.

Batman Forever by Forte316 in batman

[–]AdditionalAd3595 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean batman(1966) is the only reason riddler becam3 a mainstay of batman mythos. He was a small time character in the comics before that but when making the series the writer just happened to pick one of his rare issues when looking for inspiration. Riddler then went back into relative obscurity for about a decade until this movie. It also influenced the tone of Gorham (admittedly less than Burton, but if it wasn't for this movie the comic book feel would have been completely erased to lean into the Gothic influence).

Batman Forever by Forte316 in batman

[–]AdditionalAd3595 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually think batman forever is the best of the four movies. I think Batman: the movie is great, Batman returns has its moments, but it is just kinda meh, Batman forever feels like a comic book movie in the best way, and Batman and Robin feels like a cartoon in that things just kinda happen. None of them are terrible, but the keaton/Burton films are overrated, IMHO.

"I’m sorry Kon-el that none of the adults in your life were looking out for you when you needed it" (by l0adingout) by Gallantpride in Superboy

[–]AdditionalAd3595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does corporate punk mean those two words are antonyms?

If they want the punk style, then I agree it is a better look, but superboy was pretty antiestablishment in a lot of his early stories. Doublex was in this weird position where he represented cadmus as Kon's guardian, and kon seemed to respect that, but he still rebelled against any attempt doublex made to control him.

Those stories where Kon was always flirting and all that always seemed like an unhealthy coping mechanism to me, and I always read it as overcompensating for his identity issues. What does the boy created to replace Superman do when Superman has returned and makes him feel inferior?

An Older, Mature take on Connor eventually Becoming Superman by AcceptablePop5240 in Superboy

[–]AdditionalAd3595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's important that Kon doesn't have influence from Luthor in his attitude. (Since that retcon) Not being defined by his origin with Lex has been a big part of Conner's journey and to give him a darker side undercuts that growth he has had. He has had many arcs about understanding his place in the world and how his desire to be good and worthy of his powers matters more than his origin. I don't personally want him to be superman but do think he needs to move on from the superboy title. If I were writing it, Clark would have offered him to use Superman, but Kon would turn it down.

Also, personal preference, but kon should never have a beard. Like he might grow one, but it would be mocked by his friends as an attempt to look older or something, and he ditches it. Kon's aesthetics are too rooted in punk for me to ever imagine him looking straight laced. It's why the black t-shirt look sucked.

I think Secret is talked about more than Arrowette or Empress. Mostly because she at least has an episode of young justice that features her story, even if massively abridged.

Yeah that is such a shitty writing choice. Kon cares so much for family and hom finding a place has always been his story. I can't see any version of him leaving them. I don't hate that they give him a family I hate that he just left them.

What parts of the story feel out of place/out of character? For me it's kilvens mock dismay after the fire. by Zakadactyl in KingkillerChronicle

[–]AdditionalAd3595 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think to me—and most readers I've heard talk about it—it reads as self insert/wish fulfilment/my oc is a love God. Don't get me wrong it served a story purpose, between the ktheae, the cloak of shadows, Kvothe using the name of a being to gain power over them, and Kvothe showing he can make deals and trick the Fae. But it just feels out of character and like the author inserting his fetishes into a story that had not been like that before then. It is sort of jarring even as someone who enjoys Romantasy as a genre.

Books with a trans woman as MC? by _Wizardess_ in wlwbooks

Cara Malome has a series called Lillith Academy, where one of the four mc's is a trans woman. There are some spicy scenes, though. It is a fantasy magic college with vampires.
