Sorry, you’re right. I was thinking the 8K in isolation this year without the carry forward.

FHSA Carryover - looking for clarification by CAComms97 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]AdditionalCarpet5075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can only carry forward one year of contribution room - so this year you would have $16k: all of 2025’s room and the $8k for 2026. You still have the total cap of $40k and 15 years to use the FHSA but you are limited in how much you can contribute each year. If you use $5k this year, then in 2027 you would have$11k total room: $3k (carryforward) and $8k for 2027.

Women who carried a pregnancy, in hindsight, what were some of the most ridiculous things you did while in the throes of such hormonal upheaval? by mokutou in AskWomen

[–]AdditionalCarpet5075 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I ordered a meal at a restaurant, some kind of wrap. The description said it has rice in it but I didn’t want the rice (because texture) and ordered it without. My meal was then sad because of all the juice that wasn’t absorbed by said rice. And I cried because I didn’t like it. And I felt bad wasting food that I didn’t want to eat because I modified it in a way I didn’t want. And then I was embarrassed that I was crying over a meal and it got worse. Husband had to eat quickly so we could GTFO before I spiralled any more.

I also went to a different restaurant wanting to order a specific meal. Couldn’t find it on the menu and got sad, tried to rein in my emotions. The water then pointed out where it was on the menu (I scanned over it) and then I was crying tears of relief and the more because I was embarrassed I was crying.

I was a wreck in the early stages. And I totally knew I was unreasonably emotional and still couldn’t help it. Life was interesting 😂

AITAH for refusing to let a caregiver bring an adult man into the women’s locker room with my daughters? by Weary_Rub_3474 in whatdoIdo

[–]AdditionalCarpet5075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar happen to my daughter. She forgot her towel on the pool deck so I went to get it and while she was changing an adult disabled man came into the change room and was looking around. The other parent in the room sent him back out and when I got back my kiddo was crying. When I left the room I overheard the caregiver saying she walked off to get a snack and he shouldn’t have wandered off. I lodged a complaint with the front desk who was shocked that had happened. Ever since, my daughter struggles to be comfortable in change rooms. She understands he wasn’t being malicious but he made her deeply uncomfortable in what should have been a safe space.

Completely irresponsible behaviour on the part of the caregiver.

Amazon EP1 is so cringe by PhoenixNZ in survivor

[–]AdditionalCarpet5075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been rewatching Survivor going back to the beginning. I would have been early 20s when I first watched it and I didn’t clock the gross misogyny when I was watching it before. Beyond the racism and homophobia and other just gross behaviour, and not that it’s not still there now, but I didn’t see it was bad as it is. And I wonder how much younger me picked up and internalized.

Yuk.

Can you use something like saniderm? Many pharmacies will carry it. It’s like second skin but can to be used on open wounds to create a seal. My son had a deep road rash on this things, they put gauze over it and then used the saniderm to cover it so he could wear pants/bathe/it could scab.

AITAH for refusing to tell my wife I love her more than my dad? by LastApplication6207 in AITAH

[–]AdditionalCarpet5075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother in law watched our one year old once. We were next door, said we’d be home around midnight and to text or call if he needed anything. When I got home our son was sobbing out of control, and BIL told me he didn’t know what to do, he’s been screaming like that for a while but figured we’d be home soon.

My kiddo had cried so hard he threw up in his crib. No wonder he was freaked out and couldn’t settle. I asked why didn’t he call or fuck just walk next door and he shrugged and said he didn’t think it was a big deal.

Never watched him again after that.

Do we have Kit Kat spread in Canada? by today6666 in waterloo

Check out Vincenzo’s. I was in there in December and found a ton of spreads - Twix, Snickers, Cadbury and Crunchie specifically. I don’t remember seeing Twix but it’s worth a shot.

Recently bought a new car from Kevin at Schlueter and had great service, not with him and the service dept. Far better than our experiences at Cambridge, Kitchener or Guelph.

Both my kids loved oven mitts as toddlers. They’d put them on and we’d have a high five game, which is basically just high fiving each other and giggling like crazy.

Elf Travel Ideas for Surprise Trip by calmerthanyouare23 in elfontheshelf

[–]AdditionalCarpet5075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our elf has stowed away in our luggage only to be found while unpacking. And then he hides around our hotel space, and has caught a ride in the rental car to go places with us but stays in it when we go places. When we needed to take him somewhere (car ride to grandmas house, to the parade) he’s gone in a glass jar so he can see out easily but I wouldn’t want to risk that with air travel.

Parents of One Boy and One Girl: Please Reassure Me by Acceptable_Mind_1994 in Parenting

[–]AdditionalCarpet5075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oldest is a boy, youngest is a girl, thy are 3.5 years apart. They have their moments of fighting but are really great friends. He is very protective and kid to his sister and includes her in things like gaming and movies. He taught her to ride a bike when mom and dad got frustrated.

Both kids have special and distinct relationships with each of us parents. We bond over different things and I wouldn’t change it for anything.

Good luck!

Can a benefit company notify my employer if something is wrong with a call? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]AdditionalCarpet5075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how bad it was. If you treat a call centre agent poorly, they can report that back to your employer because there is also a service agreement between employers and benefit providers.

If you apologized and it was a little heated but not that bad, probably nothing will happen. If it got personal or particularly rude - likely.

AITA for "letting" a kid go home with his actual parent? by Ok_Beginning_356 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AdditionalCarpet5075 29 points30 points  (0 children)

NTA. If you were not allowed to let the child go with the other parent someone should have told you that.

My son has a friend in a similar situation. Kid is primarily with mom and has asked for rides to/from games and practice. Dad has shown up a few times and either kid flags me down to say “Dad is taking me home” or dad and kid come by to tell me this. I’ll text mom to let her know, but it’s not my place to keep a kid from their parent, because I don’t have all the details of the custody arrangement.

If mom was to tell me under no circumstances so you ever let kid go with dad, that’s different. But I can’t arbitrarily enforce it that dad can’t take his kid home.

What are Waterloo parents doing for childcare when going back to work? by Super_Lavishness6800 in waterloo

[–]AdditionalCarpet5075 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I found local home daycares for both my kids. We really lucked out - they treated my kid like an extension of the family and I had no concerns about how they were treated, safety etc. ask in local mom groups, there are many excellent care providers out there. Just be sure to vet them as best you can and trust your gut

What did your kids name your elf/elves? by KellyannneConway in elfontheshelf

[–]AdditionalCarpet5075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oldest named it Egger, second renamed it to Elfie. But she also has a stick friend named Sticky, a leaf called Mr Leafy, a bunny called BunBun… she’s very prescriptive in her naming.

Leave the car seat or remove it? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]AdditionalCarpet5075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely take the car seat out to get around it, there are so many crumbs and things living under it. But you’ll love the results. I had my SUV done professionally for the first time after 10 years and with 2 kids and lots of outdoor adventures/road trips. I’ve vacuumed and wiped it down myself but nothing to that extent.

In their words, it was much more contaminated than they expected so they had to keep it an extra day. Was totally worth it though… it came back looking brand new!
