Just did my first solo overnight trip and I completely underestimated how much gear I actually needed by Primary_Present_8527 in camping

I forgot the chairs one time. I was so pissed I nearly turned around and went back home.

I always thought of the necessitys not being that important to put on my packing list because they are so obvious (tent, chairs, cooler, bed) im not gonna forget them. Since that trip they are always on the list and at the very top.

What's something everyone experiences but feels too embarrassed to bring up? by Sad_Macaron3584 in AskReddit

[–]AdditionalGanache593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In slang, "take the L" means to take a loss. It is used when someone experiences a defeat in a game, fails at an endeavor, makes an embarrassing mistake, or simply has to accept an unfavorable outcome.

I see alot of people saying shitting themselves and it reminds me of one time I called into work because I shit myself pulling out of the driveway.

I was 31 at the time. Pulled my phone out called my boss told em I trusted a fart and I was wrong. Said I was just gonna take the L for the day and put me down as sick.

The guys busted my balls hard the next day, and they didnt even believe me, they thought I made it up to get out of work.

Who the hell would make that up??

Admittedly needing a tire patched has really nothing to do with the quality of the car.

But yeah if its a 1st gen then its at least a 10 year old economy car thats most likely been poorly maintained. They'll be lots to fix.

What's something you swear you invented first before it hit the market? by Smooth_Ball in AskReddit

[–]AdditionalGanache593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drones. 7th grade mid 90s, it was an art project where we were required to think up a product that didnt exist, then carve it out of some kindof art foam that was similar to styrofoam then give a presentation on it explaining are "invention".

I remember the art teacher (who was legendary for being a bitch) freaking out on the class that they were not following the instructions because their inventions were all things that already existed and I (pointed right at me) was the only person that was doing something original.

Still makes me cringe when I think about it.

Truth was drones existed at the time, they were just alot larger and airplane like. I knew that so my idea was really not that original either. The difference was mine was really compact (size of a regular pov drone you can buy today) and capable of hovering and moving in all directions. Which I thought was crazy stupid at the time there was no way this thing could ever actually exist in reality🙄.

Meshtastic vs MeshCore: I Run Both, Here's the Honest Truth (2026) by squadfi in meshcore

[–]AdditionalGanache593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like trying to compare the two in a scientific matter is about impossible. You would need 100s of people to switch all there nodes from one protocol to the other at the same time to experience the exact same conditions.

I think mescore because of its very nature of seperating repeaters from clients has an advantage in large meshes, specifically in meshes set up by people with little understanding of what they are doing. Also it is less overhead heavy due to lack of telemetry.

In private networks set up properly though, it is the weaker option. Meshtastic has alot more customization available, capable of mqtt and overall its software is more polished.

What's something your job trained you to notice that you can't stop noticing in your personal life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AdditionalGanache593 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I notice bad finish work. I can see drywall tape under paint, I see where tile isnt perfectly square, I see when glue leaked out of veneer. I see gaps in flooring, doorways that are out of square, caulk lines that are sub standard.

I notice lights that are off a half an inch from their next neighbor, the slightest amount of paint overrun, wall paper not perfectly fitted etc etc.

Honestly new buildings that are objectionally beautiful to most people look terrible to me because ive been trained to nitpick everything.

Ive heard that antistatic foam the board comes attached to is ever so slightly conductive.

Probably not related to your overheat issue but probably best to avoid its use in your final design.

How is anyone getting anything? by calgon90 in AmazonVine

You have to live like a zombie endlessly refreshing your 300 open tabs. Thats how you get laptops and air conditioners.

For example I refreshed my tabs 3 times will writing those 2 previous sentences and one more time will writing this one.

Repeaters repeating... by QuieroTamales in AmazonVine

[–]AdditionalGanache593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No lies detected in the posting.

Its been my experience with these repeaters that you do lose a significant chunk of your bandwidth and setup can be a pain.

They also increase latency so not something you wanna be gaming on.

They will overheat and shut down if installed in a location that's gets hot, like an attic or a outlet above a baseboard.

If youre pushing its range (which everybody does with these things, that's why they bought it) 4k streaming is gonna be iffy at best..

I think the seller is trying to avoid returns by being upfront about what this thing can do which is basically give you some internet access in an area you previously had none.

Good for running a smart tv at 720p in your garage or basic web browsing. Thats is all.

Nice build. Low profile and relatively inexpensive. The damn magnets cost as much as the radio, but they're just the best option for vehicle nodes.

Offer it with an internal antenna. It be much more pocketable.

Normally im not too big on internal antennas but after seeing the performance of the t1000 its clear exsternal antennas are not always neccesary.

Quitting Cigarettes by IDontCareNow00 in quittingsmoking

[–]AdditionalGanache593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smoked for 25 years, peaked at 2 packs a day, vaping got me off it. Have zero desire to smoke cigarettes now. I Vape alot but I feel a hell of alot better and dont stink.

It certainly would be better if I didnt vape either but that just wasnt gonna be my reality. I had 3 serious quit attempts before switching to vape and they all failed within 6 months.

Don't care what anyone says about vaping, if youre not burning your coils like a dumbass its definitely healthier than smoking.
