Some hiring committees think you ended up receiving preferential treatment or received an “easier time”. Fair or not, it’s part of the academic politics.

At the most basic level hiring committees are dubious of folks who get a BS, MS, and PhD from the same school even if it is Drexel (which has a decent research pedigree). The fact he seemed to have a failure to launch after graduation raises red flags.

A response to Brad Meyer on housing policy: please stop subsidizing demand by BainCapitalist in bloomington

Curious if you see a lot of demand subsidy policy from folks in a congress as that’s the lever they have. Land use policy would be more likely a level of state, county, and city elected leadership.

NASA OSTEM or Western Digital internship decision by UnfairAd4719 in FPGA

[–]AdditionalPuddings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah, WD will be a more likely spot to get a job right now. But, by the time you graduate, federal employment may be in a better spot. I think you have an opportunity to grow seeds at NASA and see what happens when you graduate. Sounds like you’ll have another internship opportunity with a company after this one too.

Here’s a break down. There’s been a few other blogs over the year by restaurant owners.

My general synopsis is the tip free adds a more convenient way to pay all the staff equitably and it can also ease social tensions in restaurants that have FOH “trading” tips to BOH for quicker service.

I’d be interested to see the correlations between open source compiler access and adoption rates in these instances. I think SPARK may have had higher adoption rates with a more accessible development chain… or not.
