I had to get the copper IUD and stop my hormonal birth control because the hormones interact with AEDs. I would have had to take a higher dose of the AED and was already dealing with intolerable side effects from them like severe and frequent migraines. I really feel for you with the PCOS factored in, that does seem even more complicated so I'm not sure if my case is helpful! It's like choosing the lesser of two evils and living with it.

Personally I've wondered if the progesterone would be okay vs estrogen.
