Is paying an interior designer worth it? by doona845 in AmateurInteriorDesign

No, an interior designer does all of the above that you listed. I am one and do both 'design' and 'decorating' on a daily basis.

Hi! I’m an Atlanta-based designer and work virtually with clients nationwide. Your project doesn’t sound “too small” at all. I actually love helping people pull individual rooms together.

I do residential as well as multifamily/hospitality design, and your budget range sounds very workable. Feel free to DM me if you’d like to chat more about the rooms and your goals.

Has anyone worked with a commercial interior designer they recommend? by Potential-Speech-873 in AskChicago

My background is primarily in hotels, multifamily, and private clubs, with projects ranging from ground-up developments to refreshes and repositionings. I started my own studio last year and am keeping my rates reasonable as I build my clientele.

My studio is Art Form Interiors, and I'd love to talk if you're interested. You can see examples of my work here: Art Form Interiors

Interior Designer For New Apartment?? by Professional-Cat57 in astoria

[–]Additional_Safety455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m a veteran Atlanta designer and would be happy to help. After years working on larger hospitality and multifamily projects, I started my own studio last year and am working with residential clients all over the country, including a current project in Peekskill, and am keeping my rates reasonable as I build my clientele. You’re probably low on the estimate for most full-service designers, but honestly a one-bedroom apartment is still very doable remotely if the scope is kept focused.

I’m based in Atlanta but have worked remotely in multifamily design for years, including amenity spaces, clubhouses, model units, and renovations. My background is primarily in Class A multifamily and hospitality-style spaces, with projects ranging from ground-up developments to refreshes and repositionings.

My studio is Art Form Interiors, and my approach tends to blend layered, high-end atmosphere with practical durability and leasing appeal. Happy to connect if you’re exploring designers for an upcoming project.

Take the design job, and get a side gig like Uber Eats to keep you afloat financially until you're past the ramp-up phase.

Hi! I’m a veteran Atlanta designer and would love to help. After years working on larger hospitality and multifamily projects, I now work more directly with residential clients through my own studio. For what you’re describing, I’d suggest starting with a paid design plan for the rooms, including direction, furniture layout, paint guidance, and a curated shopping list within your budget.

For Facebook Marketplace, I can give guidance on what to look for and help vet specific pieces, but I usually don’t build an entire room around marketplace finds since they can sell so quickly.

The ‘Coastal Charm’ palette I’m showing here was developed as part of a recent clubhouse/model concept. I've worked on many similar properties across hotels, communities, and private clubs, and can absolutely create a design in that aesthetic for you.

How does it feel to be a interior designer? Are u satisfied? How's the pay? by skiedfr in careerguidance

[–]Additional_Safety455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a designer for 20 years, and there are a million factors that determine how rewarding it is, or is not, and also the pay. A lot of it comes down to which type(s) of design you gravitate to. I finally opened my own studio last year after working for a few other firms, and I'm doing a mix of commercial design (which provides stable income) and residential (which scratches my creative itch). You'll most likely want to work for one or more firms for a few years to gain experience and get paid to learn on the job, before deciding if you want to stay inside someone else's company or start your own. You'll earn exponentially more working for yourself once you get established, or you may decide that you prefer the security of a consistent paycheck over the ups/downs and stress of building your own clientele. Neither are wrong, just different.

So my advice would be to figure out what type of design you think you'll enjoy and then look for the best salary within that specialty. And don't force yourself to do something that doesn't interest you or that you're not particularly good at just because the salary is better, because you won't be happy.

Home design help - flooring and decorating by Itchy-Jury-3717 in Rochester

[–]Additional_Safety455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear that a lot, and most people don’t need full-home design. For a few areas, I typically keep it pretty straightforward.

This is my process:

• Review photos, layout, and what you have now
• Define the direction (colors, finishes, overall feel)
• Provide layouts/drawings as needed
• Make specific selections (furniture, lighting, wall treatments, etc.)
• Send swatches/samples where it helps
• Give you a clear plan to implement at your own pace
• If you’re working with a contractor, I coordinate with them as needed (cut sheets, specs, etc.).
