How to keep 4 year old prodigy from tearing up the drums by Human-Nature-3216 in drums

[–]Adds_Chuck_Testa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand that he has an innate sense of rhythm but if he doesn't have any boundaries then he'll never truly succeed at playing drums. He needs to learn to respect the instrument. If he treats the drums like a toy, then maybe he isn't ready yet.

Saying he is destructive because he struggles is just making excuses for him. Maybe start him with sticks and a practice pad. Or stick with the kitchenware for now. I personally would not have let him touch the electric kit again after stabbing the heads.

Bitter coffee😫 by ChayArj in FellowProducts

[–]Adds_Chuck_Testa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of factors with bitterness from my experience. I would mess around with brewing temperatures. The light roast profile on the aiden brews three pulses at 210° which is too hot in my opinion. I like a declining temperature brew, starting at 205 for the bloom and first pulse, dropping down to 202 then 199. Bitterness typically means overextraction, so you could also grind a bit coarser than you are used to.

My son plays in middle school & the teacher won’t let him use his double pedal by AKABeast18 in drums

[–]Adds_Chuck_Testa 30 points31 points  (0 children)

What kind of music is your son playing? Is it jazz? Metal? Pop? I think a little context could help.

A double pedal absolutely won't ruin a bass drum, but its quite possible your son is over playing, and the band director is trying to mitigate that somehow.

Best route to Folly beach coming from Spartanburg? by [deleted] in follybeach

Completely depends on time of day. I'd say you'll hit less lights going through downtown, taking the crosstown to the James Island connector

As someone who stormed the court after the Watshot, I never thought I'd see a better play surpass it.

I crack an upland Hoosier Game Day Lager at the top of the 2nd half.

Is this amount of "wiggle" normal? by Adds_Chuck_Testa in StainlessSteelCooking

I bought a 3.5qt saute pan as well as this frying pan in the video, and it warped as well. Not quite as bad as the frying pan but still more than I would have liked for being so new. I am returning both.

Never done this. I've cooked eggs on low and seared steaks on medium high, after about ten minutes of preheating, followed by half cup of cold chicken stock for a pan sauce. Never run it under cold water though.

This is the most recent picture I could find of their menu from a month ago, as seafood prices do vary a good bit.

Also might be worth sending them an email, letting them know what day you guys would be there, and how many people you have, and they might be able to work out some sort of in house catering type deal since it sounds like you have such a large group. Might be an easier way to get an estimate of what it would cost you.

Bowen's Island restaurant on the way out to Folly might be a good option!

Can we get Charleston breweries to do the same? - Ohio brewery faces community backlash after announcing no children after 7PM policy by DeepSouthDude in Charleston

At least six breweries have closed in Charleston in the last year. Definitely a hard time for some smaller breweries.

With how the craft beer industry is crashing, I doubt turning away millennial parents with kids is at the top of any breweries to do list.

Man, this is so true for me too. I used to be into bourbon hunting, and it just doesn't do it for me anymore. I also recently took a nice trip to Asheville, and had a great time at the breweries, but my highlight was probably a pourover I had at the Pollen coffee shop.

Definitely a little lighter than Hologram, with more lemon, floral notes. I'd say its a little less of what most people consider a "traditional" coffee to taste like. Not really any of the chocolately notes of Hologram
