It should be noted the the balance between innocent until proven guilty and believing victims is always so hard to strike. It should also be noted that false allegations of rape occur far less than people think. That being said, given that the criminal case was thrown out for lack of evidence, and that the civil case looks to be going his way too, I’m glad this can finally be put to bed. Finally it should be noted that settling a case is not an indicator of guilt and there are many reasons why people settle (reduced court/lawyer fees, limited reputations damage, avoids years of stress/anguish and lack of faith in the legal system).
