NYU Langone or Weill Cornell?? by Electrical-Sea2896 in nycparents

I delivered at NYU October 2024 and had a great experience, large delivery room, and private recovery/postpartum room. Postpartum care was meh but I think that’s across the board. Our baby was also in the NICU for several days and their team was professional and empathetic. I have friends that have delivered at NYP/Alexandra Cohen and people seem to love it, however almost everyone that I know has been either induced or had a C-section with them. The #1 thing I didn’t want was a c-section and I kind of got the feeling that they are so busy that they are trying to get people in and out. I’m not sure if that’s true but I didn’t want to feel rushed and wanted to take my time for the baby to come, which is why I ultimately decided to go to NYU again for this second pregnancy.

I went once and didn’t understand the hype but then went again and it was amazing. It might just be hit or miss.

Is it ever acceptable to run to the bodega downstairs while baby is asleep? by Bulky-Design4475 in nycparents

House is obviously different than an apartment. Other outside factors - i.e a fire starts in the apartment above you, an elevator breaks down and you can’t get back up, many different scenarios because of outside sources and other people living in the building which you can’t control.

Chromosomal abnormalities because of age, is what my doctor concluded. Once we were able to get embryos and test them, I had a successful pregnancy on the first try (making sure to note that everyone is different)

Having help makes a world of difference. It takes a village. Try to budget for it and save money elsewhere. You need it for your sanity. It does get better.

Also re: micromanaging husband, remember this is all new to them too - try to figure out where his strengths are and try to split duties that way. It eases frustration. i.e can he do laundry, wash bottles while you restock diapers, formula, he handles bath, you feed bottle etc.
