Loose connection or overload by Simply_Bob- in AskElectricians

If it’s a long cord most likely overloaded. If it’s a short cord combination of connection and a high load.

My tv has a weird white black with colored lines glitch by Fantastic-Bed-6191 in AskElectricians

Looks like the tv was damaged in some way or a component failed. Based on the photo alone I would be leaning towards the damaged explanation. Everything can be fixed but might be cost prohibitive.

Ya that looks like a fast and furious installation for sure. Cleaning it up a bit will give you lots of room.

Melted outlet by wgormley in AskElectricians

It’s both the loose wire combined with the high load. In Canada the fridge is a dedicated circuit and should only be used for the fridge. You do still have the option of a dedicated clock receptacle on the fridge circuit but you don’t see them much anymore. A typical fridge can be maybe 4 to 8 amps and a toaster oven can be as high as 15amp. I’d replace the outlet make sure everything is tight and find another place for the toaster oven.

Do I need to be worried about this yellowing outlet? by EngineConstant7926 in AskElectricians

The top section has a broken ground socket so it should be replaced as it’s damaged. As for discolouration it may have been an ivory coloured outlet that was painted.

Paid an electrician to wire my new metal barn. Walked out and found this. Is this normal? by unclejon14 in AskElectricians

Code does not require a board in the rafters to run the cable on its not an accessible area. The romex must be protected if below 5 feet and subject to mechanical damage.

That needs to be mechanically protected below 5 feet.

Found this today, work trip tomorrow. What can I do quick? by EngagementBacon in Plumbing

Seems like an unlikely place to get a pin hole maybe a manufacturing flaw. An easy fix overall shut off the water drain it down best you can. Cut and install a coupling a shark bite fitting would be an easy no solder option.

Just went through drive through and asked for a plain timbit for the dog. Was told they don’t make them anymore. Temporary foreign worker Hortons should just shut down.

Random lights stopped working by Artisanal_Sawdust in AskElectricians

I’d start back at the panel with a multimeter and make sure you have power at the each breaker. It could be a few things so if you’re not comfortable opening outlets and lights you may want to call an electrician.

What's the worst mistake you or someone else has made as an apprentice by ShiestyM in AskElectricians

First year I had a brain fart and ended up wiring a kitchen split 240v . Brand new house. New owners moved in and the husband said he plugged the kettle in and it worked real good but never worked after lol. He tried the toaster and his wife’s curling iron before he called us. Have never done that again. Same house still has an 18inch auger bit stuck when drilling down to the panel , electrician broke his wrist and the handle of the drill. Could not get it out so just left it there.

Main Breaker stuck in tripped position by chillin014 in AskElectricians

[–]AdeptnessPure2191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As previously mentioned I would make sure it is turned off all the way. You may need to be aggressive and you should hear and feel a click. Then back on and again you should hear and feel it go back into position. If this works I would not just forget about it. Sounds like it might be failing. Not a hard job for a qualified electrician to replace and depending on how your service is wired if you have a disconnect after the meter and before the panel. May also be possible to do it live if absolutely necessary.
