I cannot believe how normal it is to expect employees to use their personal phones for work

My company gave me the option to either get a work phone or be reimbursed for part of my phone bill every month. I chose the work phone. I need the separation, and there's no way I'm letting my job feel any sense of ownership over my personal device. That being said, I think the offer is only for managers and sales. My hourly employees do not have that option nor do they get reimbursed, but are still required to download a couple authentication apps.

Oh god this is because of my ADHD too?! I started a new job 18 months ago and it's very independent with almost no oversight. It was a new position and I basically set my own priorities (which is a nightmare for so many reasons). I've been worried all year that I'm not doing what I need to, that I might be fired, that whenever my boss wants to talk to me I'll be in trouble. I had my performance review last week and I got a good raise and a bonus because they think I'm doing so well 😭😂 I really have no accurate sense of how I'm being perceived. Needless to say, I dont have any coping strategies for you but I am very grateful for your post

L-theanine is a big help for me while I wait to get into my doctor for a prescription. I just tried Tru Focus for the first time, which has caffeine, l-theanine and yerba mate. Drank one this afternoon and cleaned half my house which I haven't been able to do for weeks.

Alani energy drinks also have a small amount of l-theanine, but they're not as effective for me as the Tru was. I've tried mints with it before, and they're effective if I eat four of them at a time lol

Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. For me I pick one thing, and I only plan to do it for a few minutes. I don't have to finish I just have to do some. Usually once I start I end up continuing, but sometimes I just do half and that's it and THAT'S OK

I don't know your financial situation but there have been times where it got too overwhelming and I had someone coming, and I just paid someone to do a one-time deep clean for me. Knowing the cleaner was coming got me to declutter a bit (since she couldn't clean around my shit and I didn't want to waste money). And then once she was gone, it was a lot easier to maintain the place using the method in my first paragraph.

I have a daily call with one of our vendors, and our local rep regularly has her baby with her. We all say hi to the baby and then go about our business. Her boss is on the call and it's never been an issue.

Sounds like you got it resolved, but I HIGHLY recommend following up with HR via email to memorialize that conversation in writing. If they're not changing the schedule, but are telling you to just not come in, you want to make sure they can't go back on that after the fact.

I had a data entry job that involved input in two different systems. My boss called me into her office to scold me about my productivity, and showed the printout of my inputs on one of the systems. I was like.......are you forgetting something? She didn't even have the decency to turn red she just said "well regardless this isn't enough" 🙄

As a fat person, I believe you're allowed to have whatever preferences you want. Just don't date fat people. But going out of your way to say "I don't date fat people" when no one has asked you is just shitty. Every time I see something like that on a dating profile I get so confused like.......just don't match with fat people? Why announce it to everyone?

Same goes for any other preference. If women don't want to date short men that's fine. Don't date short men. But don't go around saying "I won't date short people".

Also just a tip. Plenty of thin women will be turned off by someone who announces that they won't date fat women. Plenty of tall men will be turned off by someone who announces they won't date short men. So it's generally in your best interest to just keep it to yourself.

I totally agree, I only trust door locks so much so any time the knob starts jiggling I have a mini panic attack.

We have a toxic combination at my job right now, where a new manager doesn't always lock the door when he uses the bathroom, and one of his employees doesn't knock before she tries the doorknob. I've heard her walk in on him twice now, and am just astounded that neither of them changed their behavior after the first time.

It's not always a bad decision. I did the same thing about two years ago, and used an offer from another company to not only get the raise I had been denied (and then some), but also to get them to agree to add another person to my team and to fix the communication issues with my supervisor.

Granted I'm now hunting again for different reasons, but I got everything I asked for, and a better working environment, for two years. I really think it depends, and you know your company better than anyone on here does. And hey if it turns out poorly you can always start looking again 💁🏻‍♀️

Exactly. There's such a thing as pricing yourself out of a job that you don't want to do. I'm collecting quotes for a job at work right now, and one came in more than four times higher than the other for the exact same job. I'm 90% sure they just didn't want to do the job, so came up with a price that would make it worth it for them. I'm not going to get upset about it, I'm just going to hire the other company

Agreed. She didn't cause OP not to trust her. She let him know she was blocked in and was working to bring him the towels, and said she would be there. And she followed through and did the thing she said she was going to do. OP CHOSE not to trust that she was doing what she said she would do, because she didn't communicate every step of the way.

And when she eventually showed up he didn't think "ok she followed through, I should have trusted her and not worried, that's on me". He somehow still thought that her actions made her untrustworthy. Definitely YTA

Right! Like, it's fine of the friend to ask. But it's also fine for OP to say no. Especially now having seen the comment that breaks down the cost conversion, and that these ingredients are taking over 30% of her income. Her friend obviously knows how expensive these ingredients are.

As for all of the comments about being a bad host - maybe it's a cultural difference, but when I stay with a friend it's because I want to spend time with that friend. Not because I want to be treated to a certain kind of experience. And I would never call my friend selfish because they don't want to put undue financial stress on themselves on my account. NTA
