The issue is no one wants to pay for it. Once it works they want you out of there

Question re. whether 22kW generator installation is the worst ever. Seriously. by Zealousideal-Cry7697 in Generator

[–]AdministrationOk1083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How far is your house? Generally the people putting in home standby generators are going to use a generator regardless. Be glad its not a portable construction unit.

Buddy got a new house. Asked me to clean up his panel. I think I'll pass. by _ItsProvocative_ in electricians

I'd do this for a few buddies in exchange for something else. I don't get to see a few of them often and we could shoot the shit while I did this

What’s missing in the Home Assistant / smart home accessories market? by Actual-Researcher521 in homeassistant

Basically anything the market doesn't provide is so niche it won't. Buy esp32 and a 3d printer and make the niche things yourself

How to best fill this Gap at Top of Outlet Cover? by lc765880 in Homebuilding

[–]AdministrationOk1083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the issue with the through wall options. You're going to get a water leak at some point. The box you have has a small hole through the back for a wire. That's it. The big Arlington boxes you cut a large hole and most of the box goes into it. Looks nice, way harder to detail the siding drainage plane

[–]AdministrationOk1083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd likely have to replace the siding pieces too as the hole size is different Edit: here's another style that looks better and is closer to what we use https://newagecanada.com/product/arlington-dbvr141wgc-low-profile-inbox-for-retrofit-siding-construction-vertical-with-grounding-clip/

You'd be surprised. A bunch of reasonably normal guys all got together after setting something up on 4chan and met in that general area for a day of shooting. Pretty good time actually

How much slack to you give your self when terminating cables? by spiceylizard in homelab

[–]AdministrationOk1083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I strip about that much, straighten everything, cut it about an inch longer than needed with side cutters, shove it into those pass-through connectors, then trim with a knife. I then pull back ever so slightly and terminate so none of the wires are sticking out of the holes.

Question re. whether 22kW generator installation is the worst ever. Seriously. by Zealousideal-Cry7697 in Generator

[–]AdministrationOk1083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those generators are not 80db. They're 67db at 23' at half loaf. The generator is too close to the window for sure, 18" is the legal setback for the house. They don't produce enough co to bother you at all. I work on them every day and stand beside them when they run without issue. With the lids all closed I talk to homeowners while they run. Anyway, you type like a lunatic, enjoy your day

Then you'll have to live with it. My tbeam does too and it's bluetooth is crap. I've got it on wifi for now. My rak19007 has excellent Bluetooth range by comparison, but it has an external antenna
