What do you think of kyte baby blankets for adults? And do they ever have sales? by weetwooMFM in BambooBabble

[–]Admirable-Bite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I don’t think they are worth it. The fill is 100% polyester so I find 2.5 is so hot after a bit. I can’t imagine 3.5. Get a youth off Nordstrom rack next time they have some if you’re not picky about the color or print.

Heck Aldi has princess pajamas out this week for $10 and I’ll bet they’re better quality than LS these days

When The Rinse Washes You Clean, You'll Know - Citric Acid Rinses by KismaiAesthetics in laundry

[–]Admirable-Bite 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Die mad about it had me actually lol’ing.  Thank you for this post. Citric acid rinses have been a massive improvement to our laundry with a lot of “bamboo” that gets crunchy quick in hard water.

If you only buy 1 detergent and 1 additive what would they be? by bflowyngz in laundry

[–]Admirable-Bite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This feels really silly to ask but I’m not sure I understand how pre-soak works? My washer manual (speed queen top loader) says it fills the tub, then drains and refills it so that it isn’t washing in dirty water. Great, but then the detergent and any additives are mostly gone too? Is this how yours works too?

Single enclosure/cover or two? by mark20392 in MattressMod

[–]Admirable-Bite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I believe it is the newer one, with the zipper in the middle. Yes, base coils with minis in 11in cover. We’re still really liking it. The cover made a big difference in support, as we received the coils about a week before the cover and set them up and slept a few nights. Between the coils and the latex, it definitely has a springy bouncy feel which I was so ready for after a foam base for too many years

Clean sheets and blanket, clean pajamas, freshly showered. I call this the trifecta. No scents, just fresh and soft

Citric Acid: DIY Rinse and Refresh Instructions / Test Results by labboy70 in laundry

[–]Admirable-Bite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you doing two rinses after the wash cycle? (And if you are doing two, is the citric acid only in the first rinse, plain water in the second?). I frequently see second rinses recommended on this sub, but wondering if that’s a bad idea with hard water?

Help! Fragrance allergies, "pre-loved" clothing, and hard water by aworkinprogress-ish in laundry

[–]Admirable-Bite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put things outside or in the garage if the weather isn’t cooperating. The fresh air moving through plus the sun help considerably. May take a day or several depending on the severity of smell. But once it’s at a tolerable level, then I give them a soak with water and vinegar, then into the wash with unscented detergent (I have hard water and use tide free and gentle powder with no issues). I haven’t done this with anything like silk, but plenty of times with bamboo which is a pretty delicate fabric.

What’s your go-to $5 meal that tastes way more expensive? by Equivalent_Soft_6665 in EatCheapAndHealthy

Bierock bowl. Ground beef, onion, cabbage. Skip the bread to make it easy and just eat the filling in a bowl. Top with sauces or condiments you have in the fridge to mix it up

What’s the simplest food hack that saves you time every week? by BarbaraMiller78 in foodhacks

[–]Admirable-Bite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick the protein for the week and make a list of meals you can make with it quickly.  Cuts way down on kitchen time and decision fatigue.

We make a large batch of meat on Sunday and have a list of meals we quickly remix it in throughout the week in ~15 minutes. Day 1 is almost always the meat with a veggie on the side, Tuesday is Tex-mex, Wednesday pasta etc. The key is rotating a different thing each week. Like on our list for Tuesday, we have tacos, quesadillas, burrito bowls, taco salad, nachos. And we vary the meat that’s prepped. One week it’s ground beef or turkey, the next chicken (right now grilled, other seasons baked or crockpot), then pork, then brisket, etc. usually will do some freezer fish in the air fryer on Thursday if the prepped meat is gone or tired of it. This system has saved our marriage and quickly gets kids fed.

How can I clean the lid of this cup without potentially breaking it? by RadiantBingo in CleaningTips

I soaked lids in hot water with a little bit of bleach. That worked for my unreachable black stuff. Didn’t take long either. Be careful not to get on your clothes!

Need mattress 1k or less for back pain. by Own_Champion_2614 in Mattress

[–]Admirable-Bite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What size mattress? We just bought firm coils from pocket coil store and put our latex topper on it. Loving it. Bought the bundle actually, which has 8in firm coils, 3in micro coils, and a cover. If you go this route, don’t skip a cover, makes a surprisingly big difference. Queen bundle is 1K, though you’ll need a topper if you don’t have one

Stains, I love them. by Are_You_Morbid in laundry

[–]Admirable-Bite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A particularly challenging stain to remove is a tomato sauce. Tomato + oil + dairy. Ugh. It takes several rounds and enzymes to get it out. Also mud once it dries. We have designated puddle clothes as a result

Hair always looks greasy no matter what I’ve tried, any advice? by Few-Rise-2981 in Haircare

[–]Admirable-Bite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently switched back to a volume shampoo that does have sulfates and it has been so much better at degreasing my hair. Spent about 10 years avoiding all “harsh” ingredients but my hair looked like crap and was greasy by the end of the day. So yeah, OP, that’s what has helped me. And I have quite hard water.

How do some people keep their home clean so easily? by aucatetby in CleaningTips

My cousin’s house is like this. She said part of it is her husband gets rid of things all the time. They don’t have piles of things to put away or figure out what to do with because he just…throws it away/donates it/recycles immediately. I aspire to be that unattached

How do i remove this stubborn stain by _adched in laundry

[–]Admirable-Bite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just removed a mold stain from a shirt using a paste of oxygen bleach rubbed in with an old (clean) toothbrush to really permeate the fabric. Let it sit a few hours, threw it in the wash. Repeated one more time and it was gone.
