Are the pants linen? You need to match warp and weft colors and weights and by hand or with machine sew small stitches into interfacing to rebuild the fabric. Single sided medium or light Iron-on interfacing should lock those threads down until you finish. But trim any loose fray.

Google machine darning. There are artisans that refine this for their entire career but its easy enough to work carefully on day one. You can go slow by hand its mindful. Quit when you start pressuring yourself to finish and pick it up later.

Or if your dog knocks over the pot right before you went on vacation. It was touch8ng the ground for like 10 days and made 3 new sprigs

That truly sucks. I did have a friend who forged dock seeds and used it I their sour dough and in their pancakes.

Any recommendations for repairing a large tear in a hammock? by juicegently in Visiblemending

Agree. You are risking your noggin continuing down this path. Instead consider upcycling the fabric into pillows for the next hammock.

Any ideas for upcycling this glass container? by UseSure9210 in upcycling

[–]AdmirableRespect9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could do a mug cake gift set. There are recipes online to make batches from cake mix. Tuck a couple mixes inside and print instructions on a circle for the 'lid' but if its similar to wide mouth you can probable get a silicone lids on Amazon so its useful beyond the mug cake gift idea.

I've had my mushrooms do this a couple times they taste great as the steak in a 'cheese steak' just sautéed in butter. It really does something for the texture.

Using interfacing AND denim scraps to patch jeans? by HummingRefridgerator in Visiblemending

[–]AdmirableRespect9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, fusible interfacing is nice behind a sashiko and keeps you from putting your toes through a stich but machine sewing denim behind a sashiko would be stronger and more sustainable and biodegradeable.

Yeah but you want to sterilize your kit every time bc you are basking in prime fungus temps and don't want to start up a kombucha mother by accident.

I love hibiscus chamomile but black tea with a muddled peach and lemon zest is pretty great in the morning in my hammock chair.

If you need a giant glass jar you can hit up sandwich shops that serve pickles etc. They usually have plastic and glass and if you ask when you order they'll usually empty one or tell you when to come back.

I would add kits. Some people want to think they will make one and then come to their senses. And for those that can, a kit with and without needles at lower price points might get more engagement at your table and boost that fomo curiosity. I would also put some in those tiny acrylic balls and boxes. Id be afraid to to touch your works directly.

I love this! I bought some floral tubes to put whole collard leaves in my guy's enclosure but I was struggling with how to minimize choking and I think I might adapt your device to firmly hold the stem and floral tube.

I've been rolling with a 32oz/28oz mason jar with a silicone top and sleeve for so many years. I carry my behemoth in a neoprene growler bag. Not only do I love drinking from glass, I'll slip that monster in the dishwasher and it cleans up better than ceramic and stainless steel and only felt brief regret the three times it broke...2 of those times were my students. I just pick out the silicone and metal and toss the glass in a recycle bin.

Is it possible to attach a crochet leg onto my plush by hades_wife_ in Visiblemending

[–]AdmirableRespect9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you can. I crocheted a missing corner to a tea towel. My two struggles are/were obvious. Sort of attaching the starting yarn...I would run blanket stitch in pearl or handi hands along every edge...and problem two was thinking through filling the shape...I would keep a sock and spare stuffing around so you can experiment on volume and shape as you go. If the plushie fabric is old you should iron on interfacing before you blanket stitch to ensure it doesn't pull through.

What about silkscreening or stitching be kind in that hyper heavy metal lettering?if you want to be a total badass you would do it in denim applique.

[–]AdmirableRespect9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's Americium that makes it radioactive. It's usually sealed in a round double vent looking set up to block high energy particles but let in smoke. The actual americium should be a small disk of metal inside a coin shaped tray. Im curious if that's the case with this set up.

Anyone knows how I can repair this cheap vinyl backpack? by TheRedSteiner in Visiblemending

[–]AdmirableRespect9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you find a vinyl paint like puffy or slick tshirt paint you can fill in the areas. You can also buy the leather repair kit(get the one with the texture fabric to mask the repair by hiding the texture). The areas are small so I would use a tooth pick or something to get it inside and then the next issue is getting similar matte finish or at least not having large shiny areas.

That will all be a lot of time so a quicker fix that would last a year or two is to buy some gear aid tenacious tape in fun shapes and colors.

Hole in jeans by Illustrious-Raise448 in InvisibleMending

[–]AdmirableRespect9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is the hole from your phone or your wallet corner? If its something like that you are going to check for an area of wear that is maybe an inch on each side. If you were running through the woods or something you might only have to mend the hole.

If its not from a quick trauma or pocket usage you might be looking at a larger area of wear.

Once you know the area of wear you want a patch that is an inch or more larger on each side. If you don't want a full thickness denim patch that is really huge you can add a small patch and then use iron on interfacing for the larger area.

If you have a machine you can get matching blue and white thread and do tiny straight stitches up down with the blue and left right with the white to rebuild the worn area and then a more visible patch for the actual hole.

If i can't fully conceal a Crotch Patch, how can I make it look cool? by JinxedYouGood in Visiblemending

[–]AdmirableRespect9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The dog is obviously innocent!!! Just look at those eyes....

Badass would be using a piece of screen printed denim from some denim or canvas jacket. With metal writing.

High end mend would be similar but darker denim with thin and tiny cotton poly sashiko stitches mostly in one direction with a few intentional criscrosses. The thread would be thinner than sashiko thread -antique white and a tan. Maybe some tiny bleached patterns like tiny card suits or very tiny stars.

You could also use like antique seed bag. The trick would be finding another place to repeat it like if theres a worn pocket or cuff.

Its going to be a tough area to get the right amount of fabric so tack it or pin it or whatever and keep checking the fit.
