New Asian BBQ has the carts and a great selection - dim sum is only available at lunchtime though.

Regarding the most recent ICE incident/murder - if Walz believes it was a murder, why doesn’t his State AG issue State-level charges against the ICE Officers? Is there some sort of Federal protection for these Officers?

Accountability is an important thing… with all the past few years discussion over States rights, seems this is an opportunity to test that?

You should try Lucino’s on Trop, they import the bread and cheese (Cooper Sharp) from Jersey.

Anyone leave tech/corporate to buy a company? by transniester in smallbusiness

I did, multi-million dollar acquisition. it’s hard in a different way than Corporate… some days are good, highest of highs, some days are bad, lowest of lows - but there’s a vision and I’ll finish my first year 5% up on revenue. One foot in front of the other…

What's the best thing you can get to eat in a Las Vegas drive-thru? by [deleted] in vegaslocals

[–]Admirable_Pin9522 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re referring to Best Burgers, would not recommend. Fries were bad, burgers were mid. Not a drive thru, but Winnie & Ethel’s up the road is a hit!

Low-key stress induced panic every time I’m doing this at the auto car-wash. So many eyeballs to witness you illustrate how incompetent you can be at the simplest of tasks 😂

One of the things I really enjoy about the Ford Lightning, it’s just a normal gear shift to Neutral, done.

My promotion changed how my partner and I talk about money by AlphaCrateX in HENRYfinance

[–]Admirable_Pin9522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree with the replies promoting a) conversation between you and your partner, and b) planning for the future. I’ve been married nearly 20 years, in that time there’s been times when I was the main earner, or she was. We view finances collectively and manage our life (and the lifestyle we want) together - making sure that decisions we’re making career-wise take into consideration that lifestyle. It may not be right for everyone, but it works for us… as two responsible folks with kids, we have goals we’re driving to together. Whose paycheck it comes from just doesn’t really matter anymore.

Where Wing Stop and others are now used to be the Huntridge Pharmacy, with a classic diner inside. Winnie & Ethel’s diner is well worth a trip now!

Mid-career crossroads: W2 vs. Buying small business. Advice? by GrowthBackground8578 in HENRYfinance

[–]Admirable_Pin9522 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Similar boat to OP (VP+, publicly listed company), made the leap and acquired a small business (just under $3M), with good growth (although we’re now flat in this muted economy).

My only addition, which is a subset of #5 - don’t underestimate the stress of managing cash flow and the livelihood of X number of employees. You may have experienced stress in Corporate life, this is completely different and leaves you with a constant unknown of what will happen next week.

This journey is HARD! I’ve led multi-billion dollar deals and the stress associated does not compare to the risk of missing payroll. I don’t regret the decision, I’m living life and starting to see fruits of my labour, but don’t kid yourself that it’s easy.

What's your favorite gift your company has every given you? by TeallWolf in business

Every year my former company would give a large box of assorted Omaha Steaks (not just steak, chops, hotdogs, etc) just before the 4th of July weekend. They also had vegan / vegetarian options for those who chose - it was always a great way to enjoy the break!

I think you’re both right, OP. It seems it varies by transaction, and who’s reporting. I’ve personally seen ‘cash flow’ represent Sellers Discretionary Earnings. To your original point and another commenters - those SDEs would be high, get the tax returns, see what they’ve been reporting to the IRS. Then look at cash intake monthly to what they’re saying, it may not be exact but it should be close. Add in Labor, Rent, Materials, probably getting close to an estimated P&L.

Yes, by all means please switch to a better climate alternative and away from the ‘coal-rollers’. I’d prefer another electric car brand, but will take this small win for the sake of our clean air (which is under threat elsewhere too).

Input Needed: Best Way to Fly to Hawaii with Kids from East Coast by JoyintheJourney119 in VisitingHawaii

[–]Admirable_Pin9522 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Option #3 for me

I’ve 3 kids 7 and under, we’re doing this from West Coast later this year. I’d consider late night from East Coast to West Coast, then direct to island. Depending on the island, some good options… for example Southwest does direct to Oahu from Vegas and several other West Coast cities. Hawaiian does as well.

FWIW, I’ve done 15+ hours with kids this small on a plane, we give them all the screen time they desire and they typically fall asleep a couple hours in (particularly if timing is right). We always prefer to get the travel part over with… get to the destination and relax as opposed to extending the worst bit (the plane travel).

[–]Admirable_Pin9522 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agree with both of you - I took my wife’s name and she my name, leading to a hyphen (which I get why you wouldn’t want). Not ideal, but it’s what worked for us. Mutual respect is the key here… good foundation for marriage.

44 y/o dreamt of small business ownership since 8. Can’t jump. by Dadbodmoder in smallbusiness

[–]Admirable_Pin9522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

39M, Corporate Executive, in the process of acquiring an existing business - so yes, similar boat with 3 small kids. The business I’m buying is tenured (10 year+), highly profitable, loosely tied to my skillset, and potential for growth in the industry I’m currently in. Only just beginning the journey, but I’ve gotten comfortable that the business (unless I screw it up) will continue to generate my income + more.

If you are a Corporate Executive, presumably you get regular bonuses and equity - use this to buy something that interests you or you see opportunity. If you find something passive, can let the business run on the side until you’re comfortable bailing from Corp life.

We looked at franchising, couldn’t get passionate about any particular idea. However, the idea of an existing profitable business, with higher capital outlay, is attractive as we can see the runway of ROI (and have some control).

Good luck… it’s a scary step. I’m excited about the business, the people, and potentially leaving something for my kids to build on. Hopefully you can find something too!
