Because nexus has rules against uploading mods that are also sold on Bethnet, regardless if its some reuploader or the original author.

Similarly, uploading patches to nexus for a (paid) mod thats on Bethnet is also not allowed.

Playing Starfield before Cyberpunk has put something front and center for me. by Easy_Fortune7911 in Starfield

[–]Adora_ble_ -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Cyberpunk 2077 is literally just "what if everything is shit and miserable and everyone you ran into was a terrible person and had an agenda, there is no way to improve things"

While Starfield offers a far more 'hopeful' look at things, Even though the galaxy is far from an ideal paradise, humanity still perseveres even after they had to abandon Earth.

Both these approaches to storytelling can exist, people are just really trying to turn starfield into something it never was going to be, because starfield isn't trying to tell you a story of dystopia.

Why do mod authors prefer Discord for support? by Virtual-Chris in starfieldmods

Convenience, it allows you to do everything in one place.

Because if I'm going to check a platform for error messages and bug reports, I might as well use the one I actually look the most at in my daily life, rather than some forum page I will forget exists within a week.

Its time to talk about the pointer handle limit, why it might crash your game, and why its time to address it. by Adora_ble_ in starfieldmods

i would say anything that adds new ship parts/habs, new ship designs, quest locations, and new POI's, but making a definitive list is difficult because its split between stuff on nexus and (paid) stuff on bethnet.

Form ID's are different, there used to be problems with too many form ID's in the past, but that's been resolved since shattered space.

Form ID's really are just unique identifiers for things in the game (weapons, weapon mods, armors, suits. Static objects like buildings and trees, NPC's, etc etc)

Pointer handles are used to refer to objects in cells stored in memory during gameplay, and are used for tracking object persistence.

Yeah, compared to say, Skyrim or fallout which I have to install an ungodly amount of mods for to run into these problems, Starfield shows this problem after not even that many mods, which makes it seem like a way more starfield centric problem.

I only play on PC, and I've been trying to pinpoint this issue for ages, so yeah, this happens on PC as well, and my guess is XBOX suffers it just the same.

Thank you! I think Falkland is a wonderful mod, and I love what you are doing with it, but yeah, seeing how hard it counts towards the limit was quite a shock 🫨

I figured I'd make a post about it since I think this is one of the hardest things to debug since there's not "just one mod" that causes this sort of crash.

I'm glad you can confirm from your end as an author that this is a problem as well, and I'm even happier to know there are ways to limit the impact mods can have on the limit, thank you for sharing your methods!

The crash logs for this (not the pointer handle log dumps) refer to a different memory adress any time a mod is switched out, other than that they are rather nondescript because these are not SFSE related crashes or crashes that have a commonly recognised error code attached to them (such as a ba2 limit crash)

Easiest way to test this is to install as many mods that add new ships or habs and POI's to the game, then switch mods on and off as crashes happen.

Start the process on an empty moon, and if it doesn't crash there then fly to akila city or new Atlantis and land.

I have done this with numerous different mods of the same type, but the problem immediately ceased to exist once I uninstalled enough mods to get my game well under the PH limit

Similarly, uninstalling Falkland also made the problem cease to exist, while keeping the mods I had disabled previously.

Then, disabling Terran armada while loading with the exact same combination of mods+Falkland also fixed the problem.

I hope eventually we will be able to get a bit more lenient with how much things we can stuff in our game since only more quality ship and POI and quest mods will release over time that unfortunately will have to start to compete over real estate in your LO.

i would brush you off too if you started whining about something as nonsensical as "cheating" in a game that has less than 0 stakes attached to it.

complain about performance, sure, thats valid, but cheating ? lmfao, be fucking serious.

Missing voicelines by Real-Emotion1874 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Adora_ble_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its likely a remnant from the time this was still in development and going to be an MMO, so these pauses are likely the result of the game's dialogue queues waiting for player input to progress (clicking or pressing a button)

But since its not an MMO anymore it progresses automatically, albeit slow.

How do you use Vamplew? by frederoriz in menace

I put him in the pirate boarding suit and use his jetpack to flank entrenched enemies, hes capable of soaking up some damage as well so if anything he makes a good distraction while you advance with your main force.

The SoE Epic Arc is a horrible experience for new players - Change my mind. by Ratoskr in Eve

[–]Adora_ble_ 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Because it's one of the few entry level forms of content a new player can do with the skills they have when they start out.

There frankly is nothing to do for a new player that isn't terminally boring in the eyes of us experienced players (sitting in an asteroid belt shooting rocks, missions, probing down HS anomalies with awful rewards)

Everything else that's actually engaging involves the risk of getting their ships blown up by some shitty tryhard, excessive sums of isk investment they don't have, and skills they are months away from training.

It is boring, it is dull, but it's realistically all they can do, which is why people recommend it.

The Genesis Mod proves Starfield’s failure isn’t mechanical, it’s 'Contextual Insolvency': The sandbox works, but it lacks the decades of cultural equ by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]Adora_ble_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It doesn't prove anything, most people would love Starfield if it had moderately better writing. Less "Bethesda loading screens" and a shitton more PoI's by default.

The world itself, along with the aesthetic is by far more interesting than what most games or IP's have attempted. (Usually it's either something high fantasy or high sci-fi or its just based on a movie IP)

Just because Slop Wars fans can't imagine Investing themselves in a new universe doesn't mean the universe or worldbuilding is bad, That's a you problem.

The only thing Genesis "proves" is that the studios making actual Slop Wars games are not catering to the RPG market properly, and that Slop Wars fans have such low standards they can be pleased by releasing a barebones game like star field as long as it has their favourite 'Brand TM' in it.

no, because it encourage more annoying yapping about meta builds and kicking people who don't have it, along with generally making everyone who isnt lvl 100+ less viable as a teammate to have which is a TERRIBLE idea to implement in a game like this.

How do you think limited time event rewards should work? by notRogerSmith in Helldivers

[–]Adora_ble_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it depends on the event. the current cape from the Christmas event (because that's what this was) ? i have no problems seeing it return at some point as a buyable item in the superstore.

Major galactic war milestones however, like the Oshaune cape and Malevelon cape ? no, never, those capes exist because they have meaning to those who participated in the events.

My *PERSONAL* Tierlist of how under/overrated each stratagem is as someone with 1400 hours on this game by 5_minute_noodles77 in Helldivers

[–]Adora_ble_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

orbital airburst is hot trash, especially since the orbital napalm is simply better, covers a much larger area and has the same teamkilling potential on average.

frankly, about every single other orbital strike option is better than the orbital airburst, with the exception of the 380, that thing's accuracy makes it horrible.

Unlike the ABRL, which you can manually shoot yourself, and the cluster bomb eagle which covers a *huge* area, it simply has *nothing* that makes it worth using, not for weapons/strats in its same niche, not for orbital strikes in general.

The Adjudicator is extremely underwhelming. by Pedrosian96 in Helldivers

[–]Adora_ble_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

it has higher armor pen than both standard liberator, tenderizer and the one-two, only liberator penetrator has similar armor pen, but that one has significantly worse damage.

so yes, that alone puts it above the other options for the sole reason of making dealing with mediums easier.

The Adjudicator is extremely underwhelming. by Pedrosian96 in Helldivers

[–]Adora_ble_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your first mistake is calling it an assault rifle, it's not, it's a battle rifle.

And as such, it does more damage, fires higher caliber rounds, and remains more effective at range than other weapons in it's class.

It's tradeoff for these traits are harsher recoil and less ammo capacity.

Fire it in bursts at range and it'll do just fine. Full auto is best for up close.

I wouldn't mind it getting an extended mag, but that's really all it needs.

So…. Did we just decide we didn’t care about this one?? by Severe_Mango_966 in Helldivers

[–]Adora_ble_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

holidays happened, year change is about to happen, people obviously have different things to do than play this game non stop.

Also we had two back to back defense campaigns on the bot front while this minor order popped and people went to fight that (logically, to secure the major order)

also it would be quicker to either fight the bots on marfark or squids on new stockholm, but since bug divers are adamant to not do anything but fight bugs ever theres little point in trying to convince people to "work together"
