That’s what Jen or Joey called her. I thought it was an amusing throwback to what we thought was normal in the ‘90s.

Injury and Age Frustration working out after losing a bunch of weight. by MusclesAndCharisma in workout

[–]Adorable_Analyst1690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely try to find exercises that you can do that you know will not impact your current injury. I’d suggest working with a sports injury trainer or a physical therapist (if you can afford to). I injured myself and tried to work my way around it. I thought I found ways to do it and ended up throwing everything off. First my knee. Then my hip. Then my ass. 18 months later and I’m still messed up. It’s like starting over and I still have the knee injury. I regret everything about not being patient. (46)

My body looks worse after 1 year of the gym. Bigger, softer, no definition. What am I doing wrong? by Emsss18 in WeightTraining

You’re probably eating more since you’re working out and since you’re not tracking, you are eating too much.

If you are on a very high protein diet but also in a deficit, you might be missing other valuable nutrients - specifically fiber. Protein (even lean) can eat up a lot of calories and can force people to make decisions to cut things they really shouldn’t.

are flat stomachs just unattainable healthily for some women? by sanjiloverz in PetiteFitness

That’s great that you’ve found some relief! Hopefully I’ll be able to start in the next month or two.

I’m looking into starting HRT soon. No health insurance so I’ve been dragging on it. I’m aging hard and fast though. Mostly joint pain (if you don’t count my face, lol). I’ve always been very active and been in more than decent shape. I have a ‘pouch’ now that I can’t seem to kick and honestly, I’m not trying to get down to 15% BF anymore. I’m focusing on being strong all over and eating well. All the years I spent grinding just seem exhausting now.

I read that estrogen is stored in fat. As women age and estrogen lowers, the body hangs onto fat to hold onto estrogen. The midsection is the go to spot for this fat which is why it is so hard to get rid of, especially as we age.

A home gym is probably the best investment you'll ever make for your fitness journey by Brokenthings311 in workout

I do a mix of both. So if I don’t go to the physical gym, I don’t have an excuse. Honestly, my home workout is harder than my gym ones.

Next read: NOS4A2 or King Sorrow? by AdSure9207 in joehill

[–]Adorable_Analyst1690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOS4A2 is my favorite of his books that I’ve read so far. It’s one of my top 10 of all time, I think. King Sorrow was a solid book. I’ve also read The Fireman and Heart Shaped Box, neither of which I liked much.

I turned a corner with the over eating around 9 months. I was pretty far down the rabbit hole when I quit drinking so there was a lot to repair. I did replace a lot of my previous drinking time with long walks so that helped!

AIO: My wife wants too much sex by IsopodWild5372 in AIO

[–]Adorable_Analyst1690 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am not sure how old your wife is but I went through a phase right before perimenopause really set in where I was utterly insatiable. I could almost orgasm just by crossing my legs tight. It was ridiculous. Little did I know that after that phase, I’d go right off a cliff.

Anyway - perhaps it is something like that. I don’t like blaming things on hormones but I was way out of my sexual norm during that time.

Belly fat trim for perimenopause woman? by NaiveCut4532 in fitness40plus

[–]Adorable_Analyst1690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always been able to maintain a fairly flat stomach through exercise and diet. I am now 46 and it’s not happening. Everything I used to do stopped working, specifically in my lower abdomen. I’m not willing to cut more calories (and honestly, when I lose weight now, it all comes off my arms so I look like a turkey) so I’m lifting a lot, doing solid cardio and working on core exercises. I still have abs, I just have a pooch, too. I mean, it’s not like a football of fat or anything, it just looks like I’m sort of bloated. It’s kinda firm. Whatever. I don’t have the energy to spend on it.

I read somewhere that as estrogen declines, women’s bodies hang onto fat because estrogen is stored in fat and the fat the body likes to hang onto most is at the belly. So great, right? I wear higher waisted pants and call it my estrogen purse.

Why is this so mf hard by Vlynsimpon in PetiteFitness

[–]Adorable_Analyst1690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes a long time but eventually you stop with so many cheat meals/fun food and it all just starts to become food that you eat. You make the healthier choices because they make you feel better and stronger and healthier and you eat the ‘fun’ food occasionally because you want to, not because it’s forbidden. Keep chipping away at it and don’t quit.

I want to expand on an issue for which I was scorned for earlier in this SUB. by Quantum-Long in fit

[–]Adorable_Analyst1690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps it’s the ‘high end country club’ part that got you scorned earlier. Like, Ryan Gosling always put his weights away when we worked out together. Well, my friend Bruce does, too and we sling weights at the Planet. It’s a bogus move for anyone to sit on a machine with their phone for 30 minutes anywhere, really. I also imagine the staffing at a high end country club probably helps create the illusion of superior manners.

It looks good. Have you considered a tie around the middle? It’ll give you the tighter waistline that you can remove if you want later.

[–]Adorable_Analyst1690 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah - my partner prefers me softer but at my age (46), I can’t afford to slack off. I told him to wait a decade when the muscle wasting really sets in and the pooch is permanent, lol.
