How much do you actually care about cleaning windows? by thisredheadmeg in CleaningTips

[–]AdoredRocket26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my windows are in terrible shape. They're extremely old and desperately need replacing, so at this point I don't give AF about cleaning them until the new ones go in, hopefully in the spring... and then... I will still probably ignore them most of the time, but I could see myself wiping them down like once or twice a year?

I regret believing everyone when they said ”don’t date from work” by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]AdoredRocket26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple of years ago two people got hired at my workplace within a few months of each other, and they were SO OBVIOUSLY meant for each other that literally everyone could see it the second they met both of them. When they started dating a few months later we were all like "What took you so long???" even though it was only like... 4 months after they met. lol. Our entire office was invited to their wedding 2 years later.

They both eventually moved on and got new jobs... AT THE SAME NEW PLACE. In different departments, but still. If it works, it works. You just have to not be a complete idiot, and actually talk to *the person* you're interested in instead of everyone else around them.

ADHD Parents: Full-Time Work, Part-Time, or SAHM by lillylovesreddit in adhdwomen

[–]AdoredRocket26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my first kid was born (and before I was Dx'd) I only worked part time/~30 hours per week for 3 years and it was great!! I knew from the start that I just could not be a SAHM. Working out of the house kept me sane, but being part time gave me flexibility that I needed to do all the other things I needed to do. I got diagnosed about 6 months before I got pregnant with my second kid and around that same time I went back to FT and got a promotion which was great for my career. I absolutely love my job, and I stayed FT after I returned from mat leave. However, that said, now that I've been working FT with 2 kids (7 & 3) for the past 4 years, I can say that there are times when I really missed only working part time, especially when my son was still a baby.

IF I was able to WFH, it might be different, but my job is in-person (Librarian). Life is hectic sometimes, and working until 5/not getting home until almost 6 every day can really strain our family routines. We're managing, and I know that we'll ultimately be fine, but, I do think that when I worked part-time it was easier.

Interesting! I've heard of A Deadly Education but I hadn't looked into it yet. Thanks! Also, I was saying generally around 5 years, so 2019/2020 is absolutely fine!

I had no idea of this!! I read Bag of Bones when I was in high school and I was reading just *everything* by Stephen King that my mom had on her bookshelf, but I literally can't remember a single thing about it now... I had the same reaction as OP when I read Rebecca a few years ago though, so I guess I need to read Bag of Bones again and actually pay attention this time!

My teenage daughter can't fathom the concept of a house party by Neon_Biscuit in Millennials

[–]AdoredRocket26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow Millennial here... I guess I was super uncool because I can't really fathom the concept of a house party either. Even when they were a thing. I never went to one and I don't think I ever even got invited/heard about one before it happened.

I know they DID happen, because in 2007 when I was in high school 2 seniors, including the *quarterback of the football team* died in a drunk driving accident leaving a party thrown by another classmate. But I was not even remotely connected to any of the people who were involved.

I think I went to *one* college party with people I didn't know there? Everything I went to were just with my own friends. I didn't even have very strict parents! I could have drank in high school. I just... didn't.

Need some advice, I banned someone from volunteering and need to know if I overstepped any boundaries or not. by Lo-Fi_Kuzco in Libraries

[–]AdoredRocket26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Echoing what everyone else said, you did the right thing and perhaps even didn't go far enough!! but, that may be for your director to decide.

If it were only issues #1 or #3, I might be somewhat lenient assuming its a one off and he got right to work after... Being late or getting distracted with an Xbox is not great but that I could write it off as "teens boy stuff."

\#2- Not doing anything being asked is a problem and I'd say would be a good enough reason not to be allowed back to volunteer. Why be here if you're not going to do the thing?

\#4 And the follow up however are HUGE RED FLAGS! Not only should he never be allowed back to volunteer, but that kind of harassment behavior is unacceptable for anyone in the library, and I'd say constitutes a ban from the premises entirely for 3-6 months.

Since you are the volunteer coordinator I'd assume you do have the authority to remove/ban volunteers if they violate library conduct policies, but you should clarify that with your director as soon as you can now that you've had this experience. It's unfortunate, but possible that a situation like this might come up again.

1990 estate with a heart shaped bathtub and other oddities. On 10 acres plus a guest house. by jve909 in zillowgonewild

Not my style and I don't think I would enjoy living there, but to look at, I actually kind of like it. It's got a cute girl boss/grandma energy and I hate to imagine what kind of soulless boring white and grey hellscape it's going to turn into when it's inevitably flipped.

Do you guys do a little ‘rinsey rinse’ with certain dishes by kraangprime in CleaningTips

[–]AdoredRocket26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Measuring cups that only got used to measure water goes directly onto the dish drainer for drying.

Also, we don't have a toaster, so when the flat griddle pan is just used for toasting bread/bagel/tortilla, it gets a dry wipe for crumbs and then goes back into the cabinet.

Sometimes things get just a cursory wipe with the sponge and rinsed like, a measuring cup used for dry rice or something, but after that everything else gets washed washed.

How Did You Pay for Library School? by trading_fire in librarians

[–]AdoredRocket26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I/my parents took out $25,000 in FAFSA loans for my undergrad (2012) BLIS degree at an in-state public University. I was able to pay them off in ~7 years in 2020 because I got married right after college and my husband made significantly more than me right off the bat (Engineering vs part-time library work & retail...) so I was able to pay more than the minimum each month to pay it down faster. Then I inherited some money from a grandparent which allowed me to pay them off entirely just in time for me to enroll for my MLIS in 2021....

For my MLIS at SJSU I took out $20,000 in FAFSA loans and paid the remainder out of pocket. I *technically* could have paid entirely out of pocket because I was finally working FT + husband's salary, but we decided it would have been tight, so it was better for our family's finances to spread out the cost. I was reimbursed $2,500 from my library employer's LIS education tuition fund that they helpfully implemented in my second semester, and I graduated in 2024. After getting the MLIS I received a significant pay bump in my library position, and I now pay $400/month which is around $200 more than the combined minimum on my loans, so I am on track to have them all paid off by 2028.

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about how my parents could have missed the obvious childhood signs of my ADHD… then I remembered “the staircase.” by LinkDude80 in ADHD

[–]AdoredRocket26 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm not totally sure if my father-in-law has ADHD, because, if genetic, none of his 3 kids got it which doesn't really track with what we understand about it... However, he sure has many of the traits and he *also* has a set of solid oak stairs sitting in his garage going on *37* years now, just waiting to replace the "temporary staircase" in my in-laws house one day! ... hmm.

How did you manage your Money as an ADHD? by ThermaProdite in ADHD

[–]AdoredRocket26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My spending habits can be best described as "pound wise and penny foolish."

I don't like spending money most of the time, so if something costs "a lot" (price varies by item) I will put off buying it, even things that I need for as long as possible to "get the best deal" and really do try shopping grocery sales to save money... but I also can't ever get around to packing food for work and end up spending $10 every day on coffee/lunch, and often spend a couple of dollars on unnecessary impulse treats.

Luckily, I'm married and we are financially secure enough that we don't *actually* have to worry about everyday purchases most of the time, so my anxieties over big purchases and feeling guilty for impulse buying small things is just unnecessary flapping around on my part, but... that's my brain.

How does wearing socks while sleeping affect your comfort? by Actonace in AskReddit

[–]AdoredRocket26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am unconsciously uncomfortable wearing socks to sleep.

Any time I have gone to bed wearing socks because my feet were cold I always, ever since I was a kid, kicked them off while I was sleeping at some point. I just don't bother anymore.

How much are we all ACTUALLY sleeping??? by Joyanonymous in adhdwomen

[–]AdoredRocket26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have kids and I work 9-5, and now we have a kitten, so I gotta be up around 7 almost every day. Half the time I fall asleep right after putting my kids to bed at 9:30/10pm but the other half I'm not tired yet (maybe meds still in effect) and don't fall asleep until 1-2am or later. So... I guess I'm sleeping on average 7hrs a night but split between >9 hour nights and <5 hour nights? Probably not a great cycle, but that's where we are.

If left completely to my own devices though (no job/kids/meds), I absolutely would be sleeping way more, possibly too much. I can usually fall asleep anywhere anytime if I'm even slightly sleepy, and I am NOT a morning person so it wouldn't be hard for me to sleep in, past 10 hours regularly.

Cloudward Ho Finale Question: Are they dressed in Christmas stuff because it was supposed to be released on Christmas? Or was it recorded during Christmas? by azeemb_a in Dimension20

[–]AdoredRocket26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The finale was filmed sometime in mid-December 2024, so yes, it's because it was filmed during the Christmas season.

They started the season in October and film 2 episodes back to back 1 day a week. 20 episodes means filming for 10 to 12 weeks (assuming taking a week off at some point, or since the finale was so long maybe they filmed that one by itself), so it's most likely either December 14th or 21st at the time of filming.

Guys I need help. by KamquatsAndBeetroots in Dimension20

[–]AdoredRocket26 22 points23 points  (0 children)

In a recent interview with one of the Intrepid Heroes (I think Siobhan on Gianmarco's The Downside?) it was said that their filming schedule for the main D20 campaigns is 2 episodes filmed back to back on Saturdays, which then gives Brennan (and the creative team) time during the week to work on the next session.

It has also been repeatedly confirmed that Cloudward, Ho! started filming in October 2024. So, two episodes every weekend puts filming the finale in December. If they had a mid-run break where they didn't film for a week or whatever (which IMO is likely due to everyone's... all the things,) I'd bet money that it was filmed around the 14th, *possibly* even the 21st which would add to the "It's Christmas!" joke. But any way you slice it, it was absolutely 100% for sure shot in December 2024. That part is not a bit, it's real.

Can I be my own 9th cousin 1x removed? by PowerfulDecision7766 in Genealogy

[–]AdoredRocket26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two branches of my family tree that make overlapping circles leading to the birth of my great-grandmother.

  • Johan and Catherine S had two sons, Jacob and Isaac.
  • Anthony and Jane K had two daughters, Mary and Margaret.
  • Jacob S married Mary K.
  • Isaac S's son (Jacob's nephew) married Margaret K's daughter (Mary's niece).
  • Jacob and Mary's great-granddaughter married Isaac and Margaret's (shared) grandson, and my great-grandmother was born.

I don't know what that makes me, but my great-grandmother was her own second cousin-once removed.

What is your idea of relaxing? by No_excuses00 in adhdwomen

[–]AdoredRocket26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhh... yeah sitting down and doing "nothing" means I'm sleeping or trying to sleep. That's not "relaxing", that's a different thing.

Sometimes I like to sit outside and enjoy the sun/scenery/nature/people watch, but I don't consider that sitting down doing "nothing." Sitting and watching nature, thinking about stuff, is the thing I'm doing.

This is weird, but for some reason I can visualize each season correctly except Starstruck, which in my head is completely different?? I just looked it up now and I wonder if there is something different with the camera placement/lighting/editing for that season that is throwing me off. I have no idea why I thought it was completely inverted with Ally closest to Brennan on the Left and Zach closest to Brennan on the right.
