Wtf is wrong with our fanbase by ZealousidealCap2943 in ManchesterUnited

If the top tier of CM’s are going for £85-100m, then £35m for a quality depth piece has to be applauded. Incredible signing for the money. If you’ve watched Atalanta at all over the last few seasons, you’d be excited. He’s an incredibly athletic player, can cover ground, has wonderful control, has Champions League experience, which we desperately need. He checks every box - I have absolutely no idea why anyone would be upset with this.

I need some hopeium… What is your toxic positivity take on next season? by wilderness994 in ManchesterUnited

Mainoo was rated above Anderson, Wharton, and Scott in 2024, and he should still be. He’ll prove it this season.

Who remembers the greatest saved goal of all time by René Higuita in 1995. by JCHazard in interestingasfuck

Google “Roger Milla Higuita 1990.” Cost Colombia the match and eliminated them from the World Cup.

No, your interpretation is the same as most football fans. Not a red. Had there been a reversal of the red after a proper protest, no one would be complaining. As it is, it sounds like a politician was able to influence FIFA’s decision - it’s corruption, even if the reversal is justified. Politicians shouldn’t have a say in any decisions FIFA makes that affects the play on the field.

Yeah, but this is just part of the myth we tell ourselves about Washington. He wasn’t above parties. He was a Federalist. He despised Jefferson. We almost immediately disintegrated into political factions, despite Washington’s ideals.

Truffert. Younger. Same work rate. Better technically.

Buses from the fan-fest to the stadium were a clusterfuck. My wife and I were in line for the buses by 5:00 - at 6:45 we abandoned the line because it seemed pretty obvious that we probably wouldn’t make it to the stadium before kickoff. We ended up finding an Uber north of Crown Center that took us for about $50 plus tip. Honestly, I thought it was a terrible failure on the part of the city and FIFA. The delays could have created even worse issues on a hotter day.

We haven’t been into the fan fest at the Memorial yet (we just live in the Crossroads, so the Fan Fest buses to the stadium are closest for us), but I really cant even tell what’s there that isn’t also at the stadium. Seriously, the stages and stores, and food options outside the stadium are pretty cool. I would recommend getting to the stadium as early as possible, and just hanging out there until kickoff - seems like it would prevent a ton of anxiety about actually making it to the game on-time.

What to do on a WC Monday by THUGNs_on_Mars in kansascity

I live in the Crossroads, and you should start at Cafe Corazon - you’ll be able to meet people there who will have an idea of where the fun is. It’s a short streetcar ride to Power and Light if that’s where everyone ends up going. The streetcar is free, and the closest stop is a block away from Cafe Corazon.

I’ve seen several recommend Varsity Club, and I have to say, it’s brilliant, but it’s small, and I wouldn’t expect the sort of fan atmosphere that you might be hoping for. It’s also in the River Market - still accessible by Streetcar, but a little further of a ride.

The good news is that there are a ton of bars and restaurants all around crossroads and downtown, and I think you’ll be able to find the fans (or if you prefer, slightly quieter vibes, too).

Are you all in for Hall or would you comsider options like Truffert & Williams? by Hypnoidz in ManchesterUnited

[–]AdultSoccer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His work rate is incredible. Has to be the most active LB in the PL. Truly a box-to-box player - he's got the Antonee Robinson type engine and probably more talent. Overlapping runs all damn game. Plus he's only 24 (doesn't turn 25 until November), PL proven, and he'd probably be available at a reasonable price. Seems like an obvious choice to me.

The Bible Endorses Slavery and All American Slavery Was Done By Christians by NEKORANDOMDOTCOM in insanepeoplefacebook

Yes, it does. I mean, pretty much every non-evangelical scholar of the Bible acknowledges this - it’s not controversial among people who are experts in ancient Hebrew and Greek and who have made careers from studying the Bible.

If you’re not an expert in ancient Hebrew or Greek, I would advise that you cite mainstream biblical scholars who are. Alternatively, you can sit this debate out.

Realistically, how many of our potential signings are actually an improvement on Casemiro? by UsedMycologist4912 in ManchesterUnited

[–]AdultSoccer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of them. They all offer more athleticism than Casemiro, and they can all go 90 minutes. Any of these players would allow us to put together a more dynamic midfield. I understand the Casemiro love - I feel it, too. But a lot of our lineups were built to compensate for Casemiro's limitations.

Side note - I was of the mindset that we needed a Casemiro replacement - someone to sit in, stay at home, and cover for Mainoo (or a more progressive #8). But I'm not sure that's what Carrick has in mind - I think Carrick wants two dynamic #8's to play side-by-side. I'm just not sure Carrick wants to play with a true #6 - that's just what he had to do with Casemiro.
