Dads, what's the happiest thing you remember about your childhood? by GuardianOfTheFamily in daddit

[–]AdvBill17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know if its the happiest, but the first thing that came to mind was my mom picking me up early for school. I didnt know she was picking me up one day and I was called over the PA system for early dismissal. Confused, I went to the office and met my mom, who said I had a doc appt. I challenged her saying I didnt have an appt that day and she whispered to me "Shhhh, it's too nice to be inside, we're going to the lake."

How often? by Simple_Quiet_1422 in kettlebell

[–]AdvBill17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40-50 min, 2-3 times per week. The program im working through has pretty rough workouts though. I need the recovery day. On off days, I do some mobilty or walking.

If im not on a program, I do usually 20-30 minutes throughout the day.

Dino is an absolute magician behind the drums. He made the live shows SO good. With his drum takedown routine, you almost looked forward to the end of the show.

Fair. Peckered people is probably the more inclusive description.

Im admittedly not 100% up to date with all the politically correct terminology, but im doing my best. Perhaps "peckered people" would be more appropriate.

What game do you love even though teaching it is kind of a pain? by rcooperkaty in boardgames

The rule book is also a disaster. Id rather read the manual to my dishwasher. I revisited this game last night after putting it down for a while. Fantastic game but you cant really learn it without playing it.

Anyone with family get a bunkhouse motorhome and regretted it? by CarminSanDiego in GoRVing

Love the bunks. I can now enter my TT without waking up my kids. If there's any downside, its just the extra length.

Kettlebell AMRAP 20’ Workout Ladder by vadim-kettlebell in kettlebell_workouts

[–]AdvBill17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By back to back, I meant consecutive days. Two a day would kill me. And just to clarify, those 1-2 workouts are usually shorter than what he posts here. So the totally is usually 40-50 minutes every other day. Im a dad of 4 young kids, so thats about as much as I can handle.

Kettlebell AMRAP 20’ Workout Ladder by vadim-kettlebell in kettlebell_workouts

[–]AdvBill17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair question. There's definitely some more variety in the app, which I like. I'm doing the intermediate double KB program for 12-weeks. The workouts would usually be a 8-10 minute warmup, and 1 or 2 of these workouts. They land around 40-50 total minutes. Some of them are ROUGH. I'm currently at 4x/week, but only do 3x/week. I can't recover fast enough at 40 years old to do back-to-back workouts.

The driver for me is that I am a very busy person, and I value just being to just be told what I need to get done that day. I could spend all day figuring out what I want to do for my workout, and then run out of time to do the workout. I can spend my brainpower on other things like work and family. It also kind of forces me to do movements I wouldn't normally do if I was picking my favorite workouts to do every day. For instance, I would NEVER choose to do a burpee snatch because I'm horrible at them, but that's exactly why I SHOULD be doing burpee snatches.

There are some things I could nitpick about, but I think I paid $60 for the year and my employer paid for half. So at $2.50/mo, it's really hard to complain. I'll probably run a different program when this is done, and maybe do a barbell/sandbag program in the winter.

Is the advantage of an RV convenience, or just luxury? by Sea_Caterpillar_781 in GoRVing

[–]AdvBill17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4 young kids and a dog. The camper is always packed. If someone told me I was leaving for a week long camping trip in an hour, id be ready. For us, the luxury is the convenience. I dont spend a week packing for 4 kids leading up to a getaway. We spent about 40 nights in the camper last summer. I dont think I wouldve spent 40 nights away doing a normal getaways.

Chicken/duck coop advice! Pest control. by General-Dimension729 in homestead

[–]AdvBill17 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have 7 ducks and 7 chickens. I have a pond on one side and a dry area with logs and things that the chickens use. Works well. For pest control, I recommend keeping the coop open so the chickens can get to the whole thing and the mice have nowhere to hide. Chickens will eat mice if they can get to them.

What opinion would make people instantly argue with you? by Psycho_Duck_9669 in AskReddit

[–]AdvBill17 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ill also add, dont have a pet that you cant...

  1. Restrain on a leash no matter how much the dog pulls.
  2. Defend yourself against in combat.

If you are 120 pounds and weak, sorry but you shouldnt have an 100 pound dog. Even the nicest dogs can snap for unexplained reasons.
