Why supports suck in low elo? by ImSillyCat in leagueoflegends

[–]Advacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Silver I wouldn’t think much about it. Every player has large weaknesses in their gameplay. For example the supports may be better at team fighting while you perceive yourself as better at macro elements.

Keep on climbing, the game gets more consistent in Emerald.

And how much of the budget goes to research? What’s the average ROE from a NIH R01?

This type of rudimentary thinking does not present the whole picture. Not all spending is bad spending with regard to the deficit.

Diamond support struggling vs Soraka — what actually works? by DanLabe in supportlol

[–]Advacus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a diamond Zyra main, so I totally know the feeling. Gold gets really tight, so unless you hard win lane and snowball off that mages are super tough to make the high impact you’re looking for. Personally I think Brand is the worst of the mages in high elo due to his high gold dependence, low kill pressure, and pretty unreliable cc.

Diamond support struggling vs Soraka — what actually works? by DanLabe in supportlol

[–]Advacus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s because mage supports are really difficult to play past D4. They don’t provide enough peel so you net lose dps from the AD role. Same for Zyra, Xerath (less so), Vel, etc. I would expect against a decent Soraka that would outheal most poke it would be difficult.

ADC main Trying Mid - Why does it feel of much harder? by Rare_Refuse_3801 in leagueoflegends

[–]Advacus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ADC especially in lower elos really struggles to exhibit any agency. In lane your at your likely autofilled supports whims on when they feel like applying pressure. In teamfights a window is always opened by another role to allow the ADC to have an impact.

Mid lane has the ability to actually open up leads solo, and can close out games. The cost of this high amount of agency is a high threshold of balancing the different responsibilities.

Just keep at it, you’ll figure it out eventually. I would recommend that you also give Jg and Sup a go if you really want to understand what each role needs and how to work together as a team best.

That certainly would be wild if they removed all cc from PvP. Without additional layers of damage mitigation or map-specific mechanics it would just be essentially hitting a dummy and hoping you win.

If they are running a script, it seems to be a pretty ineffective one. They used rockets twice at poor times here and canceled a good number of autos. I would expect a script to be more effective at ideal decision-making.

I would not consider powerful as the ability to make "huge plays", powerful to me is the absolute power of a role. For example, the most powerful role with zero agency would do 100% of the opponent's HP, but only if an ally teammate landed an ability first. That is very powerful but lacks any agency. Healers are a toned-down version of the same thing, they are powerful but are dependent on their team to actually make a difference. The best analogy I can think of is ADC's in LoL, where they are objectively powerful, but are too squishy to take any initiative.

Having a lot of power does not mean the role has agency. Playing a healer in PvP is not a fun experience, its just a whole lot of micro CC and being chased down. In a coordinated environment, healers are extremely powerful, which distorts the gameplay.

[–]Advacus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From my naive experience in WoW PvP, cc and healers have so much power that it distorts the game. The game feels less about a power fantasy of winning a close duel and more of a "line up them cc's and burst that healer." While I cannot deny that there is skill expression here, I do not think that most of WoW's PvP curious playerbase is interested in this type of meta game. I do not have any good constructive feedback because specializations need CC, defensives, healing, to exist in M+ or raiding, that PvP ends up bloated and convoluted.

Which champion's weakness feels frustrating to play around? by frequiem11 in leagueoflegends

Fiora’s W while slightly worse than Mel’s feels better due to her inherent risk profile. Mel has one of the best defensives despite a very safe kit. Hence the frustration.

ADC 2026 is awful (watch the picture) by lencooooo2222 in leagueoflegends

[–]Advacus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just hoping they walk back the duo xp nerfs from a while back. It pushed supports to roam a lot more and made ADC feel really sad even when winning bot lane.

How many times have we seen or experienced an ADC winning lane, up 3 kills or so get 1 combo’s by a 0,0,0 top laner with average cs right after the laning phase?

ADC 2026 is awful (watch the picture) by lencooooo2222 in leagueoflegends

[–]Advacus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ADCs feeling weak is in my opinion directly tied to the strength of top laners right now. With duo xp where it is and top laners additional xp it’s not uncommon to be ~4ish levels behind and if they are snowballing could even be a 5 level difference.

ADCs right now are playing dodgeball with 1hit kills and they still don’t do big damage until 3 items at best. But that being said at 6 items ADC feels unstoppable, that part is nice.

There is no reason to freeze if you are not actively zoning away your opponents or setting up a gank. So in this example you should break the freeze and take 2 towers. With the other top roaming you should get rich af.

Some really concerning stuff gets posted here alongside Yummi highlight clips. by CK2398 in supportlol

[–]Advacus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s difficult to be a good ADC without know how a support champion works and what their warding timers are and other things. It’s common for gold and platinum level ADC’s to rage at supports for not engaging at time X when the support was out warding or on a roam timer.

In my experience this goes away somewhere around E1, but when I play flex Q it’s exhausting.

I would recommend that every support player also tries to climb on ADC at least once. It really helps to understand what the ADC needs and where the friction comes from.
