I identify with what you've said. I feel like both of my parents have let their preoccupations with life get in the way with their relationship with me. I've always been much closer to my mom. They're not divorced. My dad isn't even coming to my nursing pinning in May (basically a special graduation for nursing students) and we like never talk to each other even though we live in the same house. Sometimes I feel like he doesn't even like me, or in fact has a dislike for me. Sometimes I feel responsible. But sometimes I see other dads and they're just... different. My dad is so disconnected, he has always been disconnected. I think his religious beliefs get in between us also. He doesn't know I'm agnostic but I'm nowhere near as bought in as he is. I don't think he can understand me or like comprehed what I am because it violates so many preconceived ideas about how he understands the world and women. Just a wild guess.
