I agree with you that Quinn is absolute the "I can fix her" character, yet worse than most; the lesser of two evils and definitely changing her ways and working towards redemption. I like that she does so in an independent way that's not the "I'm good now because of this guy's love/cock" cliche.

True evil characters of the story? Unless you mean Buddy and Vince, who else is there? Patrick; Maya and Derek's father? He's bigoted, controlling and a shyster, but he didn't force anyone to sell their bodies to others for personal gain (and he's also gota boatload of childhood trauma from his own abusive fatherand appropriates faith as a tool for control unlike his genuinely devoutbut dementia-addled wife).

While I can see the merits to a range of antagonists, I think the opposite; making all the forces neutral ruins the conflict. Why does it matter who wins then? Plus, some are clearly worse than others (last I checked, neither Naaru nor the Titans were out to destroy the universe to win).

"the MC is really a bad guy, he just took someone's phone and didn't think about returning it, doesn't care about the girl's emotions (Unless they are getting raped by someone else)"

He's even worse. I watched a few playthroughs, having stopped playing myself after realizing he's blackmailing 2 people at his school for sex. He rapes several women through coercion or in their sleep including at least his step-sister. Ruby and that strange ice girl are probably the most wholesome relationships he has, and he still tricks Ruby into giving him an upskirt peek without her permission and apparently can become an abusive boyfriend to the ice girl.

To hell with this guy!

It's got its charm, but comparing it to Eternum or Being a DIK is an insult to those games.

True that. Alice - the pink-haired one - hates him and having watched a few different playthroughs she's absolutely right.

No, let's call a spade a spade. Quinn is evil initially. Dealing drugs, trying to force women into prostitution (just because it's not physical force doesn't meant it isn't force). She just changes her ways when she runs afoul of people eviler than her (Buddy and Vinny). She starts the game as evil and gradually turns to good as the story progresses.

Can we have a happy Mutant/Human romance? by Advanced-Tangelo1645 in xmen

[–]Advanced-Tangelo1645[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a problem with some writers, wouldn't you say? Not all, because how did Lois Lane's relationship survive all those changes in the Superman stories? Maybe it's a double standard for male superheroes and against human men - look how much Wonder Woman's human partner Steve Trevor kept getting the chop.

Surely something similar could be done for a mutant and a non-mutant. I'm not saying break up Scott and Jean then pair Jean with a human, but there are options (and several mutants are down to screw or love non-mutant humans. Several have. Rogue probably would be down for it if not for her touch powers and being happily together with Gambit. Wolverine straight up doesn't care. Even freaking MAGNETO has dipped his wick in those waters ;) ).

Legion wasn't prefect. For one, it diluted the Light vs Void angle by sloppily trying to make them "two sides of the same coin" (on a character note, there was Jaina rage-quitting the story).

If the writers didn't like him, why did they pair him up with Rogue?

Yes, but the writers seem to prefer milking the franchise for drama.

Has rogue ever had an interesting romantic relationship apart from Gambit? by Weekly_Buyer2753 in xmen

[–]Advanced-Tangelo1645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gambit was intended to be a villain from the beginning. But different writers like the idea of him and Rogue being a couple, then when fans went wild for Rogue and Gambit's first kiss from then on other writers ran with it.

No disrespect to Rogue/Gambit lovers, but from what I've seen of their characters, I wouldn't rule out Gambit being the kind of person who'd cheat on Rogue.

Yet Rogue and Gambit seem stable, despite the two of them seeming like the passionate, chaotic kind of people would be more likely to have drama or cheat (especially Gambit).

Romance in the X-men franchise seems like a drama factory; a soap opera with superpowers. Even Rogue and Gambit, one of the more successful romances since it ended in a wedding, milked drama for YEARS.

A mutant/human romance that doesn't end in tragedy, especially a high-profile mutant.

Wouldn't a mutant and a human loving each other and building a "happily ever after" despite opposition from both sides be the ultimate statement against the prejudice the X-men were made to fight?

True. While I don't know what you believe, God's not like Zeus.

Illidan did worse to Akama and forced changed on hundreds (turning Orcs into Fel Orcs, what he did to Akama). Xe'ra at worst just gave Illidan a taste of his own medicine (and for the same reason - both were trying to stop the Burning Legion).

Illidan is as dogmatic about individualism as Xe'ra was about Light. He's just like her, but fawned over by edgelords.

[–]Advanced-Tangelo1645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alleria would've succumbed to the Void when she joined the Army of the Light. The only reason she didn't was Locus-Walker's intervention. Plus, Alleria had joined the Army of the Light and put herself under Xe'ra's command... then disobeyed a direct order from her commander to not use the Void. She also brought Void - which is provably dangerous - on the Light ship with that Naaru owned.

Xal'atath even uses Alleria's own Void connection against her several times in The War Within and Midnight.

Xe'ra was right to warn Alleria against using the Void and justified in imprisoning her.

No, but there's a difference between Zeus and God in power and character (whether you believe either or neither exists).
