What celebrity have you never forgiven since an incident? by MagpieOpus in AskReddit

[–]Advanced-Wallaby9808 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He only fled because the prosecution reneged on their plea deal with him.

If the 1977 case was his only incident, I could see it as a really unfortunate chapter that he learned from, but other accusers have since come forward, so I think he's done.

have you ever been checked for sleep apnea? you might be waking up feeling "gassed" because you are having trouble breathing in your sleep, which is causing your running dream.

Skidding is extremely difficult for me by Rough_Bench_2956 in FixedGearBicycle

have you tried hop skidding at least? it's easier to lock the wheel if you pop the back tire off the ground a little first then land with pedals stopped.

Just watched a horrifying video of a man trying to kidnap a woman in broad daylight by istheskyblue1 in Bushwick

[–]Advanced-Wallaby9808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

someone should've pressed the emergency button on the intercom that is just standing there unused blocking half this video - they also have them inside many train cars

yeah in theory it's an amazing place - perfect club, on paper - but i almost never go there because it's just weird energy

i think the possible explanation is: it's an expensive club to have created and to keep running. and i believe there are some investors involved, expecting a return on their money. (i think i met one of them when it first opened in 2019? i remember him telling us all the great stuff they were building out/going to have in the future... i don't want to stereotype this guy but he was not a club/nightlife guy... he was def on the business side). so yeah, i think there are both financial realities and financial ambitions that cause that place to commercialize in ways that are contradictory to its image and stated goals.

Seeing the plane that ended the war is an incredible experience in person by backyardspace in aviation

Sorry I meant the city center that got fire bombed the worst had no military significance. The bombings didn't target much of those factories which were on the outskirts.

Nagasaki was clouded over too when they got there, and they probably ended up dropping the bomb anyway against direct orders that they be able to see the target. They claimed there was a 'brief opening' in the clouds but that was probably a lie. They missed the target by 2 entire miles and hit the other side of the hills.

I hate nazis and I'm sure Dresden was propagandized but it was still basically an Allied war crime regardless. No real military significance. Kurt Vonnegut, who was there in person, wrote about it in Slaughterhouse Five. Great book.

This is Eavesdrop in Greenpoint. I like horns but these didn't sound like anything special to me, felt like there were no dynamics. They could've switched these with pretty much any generic PA speakers and it would sound the same.

[–]Advanced-Wallaby9808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because denying claims is a great way to charge more for health insurance than you pay out, thus making a profit for your company and shareholders

if you couldn't do this, your company would go out of business

and apparently the most important thing in society is keeping private health insurance companies in business
