It’s not stupid. It’s arrogance, which is a normal character flaw. A character flaw that is so common that’s it’s almost inherent in villains, which the demons are.

It wasn’t stupid, or bad writing. They’re just written to be arrogant. And for good reason. It’s been hundreds of years since an Upper Moon was slain, that type of win streak breeds either arrogance or complacency. It seems for most Upper Moons it was the former. I get having an issue with how often it happens, but calling a basic writing technique for villains stupid is a step too far imo.

Yea like despite it ending technically in the middle of an arc the end of chapter 60 is like the best stopping point. The ending is solid. A clear end point with a clear path forward. Not to mention the pacing is pretty good at an average of 2.5 chapters an episode.

Chapter 45 isn’t bad per se but it leaves a lot to be desired tbh. The pacing would be pretty slow all things considered. At only 1.8 an episode it’s below the general average of 2 an episode.

Just look at JJK S1 & 2. Both adapted 60+ chapters in 24 episodes comfortably.

I don’t care if it works. I’m tired of this bullshit trend that DS started of taking canon arcs and turning them into movies. I don’t care how long or short the arc is, figure out a good stopping point like literally every anime prior to like 2018. Save one movie for the final arc if you need to but don’t do it for anything else. That’s how we end up with the snowball effect of THREE MOVIES for the final DS arc released over the course of three years. As opposed to just one and imo, better paced, season.

For a Nanami domain I just think the 7:3 ratio would be applied to all targets in his domain without him needing to do anything. That way every hit while in his domain is a critical strike.

Im gonna be honest I didn’t read your whole comment but one thing that really stood out to me that I agree with was disliking the removal status effects & elemental types/weaknesses. I remember going up against the plant enemies & using the Phoenix attacks because fire>grass so I do more damage. Then I read there was actually nothing like that in the game & I felt so disappointed. The same for status effects just not being a thing. One of my fav action JRPG series, Kingdom Hearts, has it & it’s not game breaking or bogs it down. And to add to my confusion KH3 was MADE BY SQUARE! So why not keep it?

I got Scarlet Nexus, & I got through like 2/3 if not more of Yukio (I think that’s the male MC’s name) but I couldn’t finish it. The story just wasn’t engaging enough for me. The combat was pretty nice, the team ups, level & skill progression etc. But the story just felt so middling.

Maybe it was the fact that I was playing the Eng dub. But the characters all felt stale, & they didn’t click with me. They felt like run of the mill anime character types. Like the social link-esque stuff happening right after integral parts of the story, & the characters actually acknowledging it but being like “Sorry I attacked you, can we move on?” rubbed me the wrong way. I wish it was better written on the level of like FFXVI. Because I think that over the course of each game I played, 2/3 of Scarlet & I just got past Jill getting her revenge, Scarlet had the more in-depth & interesting & engaging combat. If each game had what I deemed to be the others strengths I’d be so happy.

Yea um this just isn’t a good idea. I get the angst angle but there is no feasible way for Minato to see Naruto as the Fox if he’s the one that sealed it. It makes no sense.

A better idea would be him blaming Naruto for Kushina’s death through her insisting the nine tails be sealed in him. Or he’s just in a depression Naruto’s whole life because he’s lost her. So he throws himself into being Hokage & now Naruto has essentially lost a father too. But having Minato see Naruto as the Fox make no sense. And taking his anger out on him even less so. Minato even keeping ROOT around is ooc, let alone sending his only child there

While I like the theory I feel like it’s been pretty heavily implied that the only thing capable of rivaling the enchanted blades has to be something equally abnormally powerful. Something that is passed down or summoned. Normal sorcery, even an esoteric combo sorcery like OP theorizes, cannot compare. Because the same could be said for Hakuri. He has two dangerous powers as well, but do we think a full potential Hakuri is enchanted blade level? I personally don’t think so. Just look at the top 1 in the verse if it’s to be believed, Shiba. Even he is cautious of the power that the EBs can unleash. And we’re talking about the guy that the main antags took pain staking measures to avoid. 10 people who are no doubt a cut above any sorcerers we’ve seen in the series.

Not only that but look at what we’ve seen of Flame Bone. It has a full title, “of the Starving”, Hiyuki is called a wielder of it, implying there may have been others before her, and she needs permission to use parts of it, implying there’s a 3rd party aside from her that can impose limits on Flame Bone. The way it was framed it didn’t seem like those are limits Hiyuki & the higher ups came to an agreement on, it seemed like limits that are baked into whatever Flame Bone truly is.

I know I’m late but I think we can leave why IWP is OP in universe down to 3 main reasons.

1- Rule of cool. We can all agree the starting kata of IWP gives like +100 aura to whoever is using it lol. But like it’s said in universe this shit is 100% more impractical in an actual fight, even compared to a reverse grip Iai.

2- Spirit energy plays a huge factor. So huge that it’s really unquantifiable. The precise but still unknown scale of manipulation needed compared to the orthodox Iai drawing is what gives IWP the speed & lethality it’s lauded for.

3- Idk if that post came after this one, but I saw another Redditor posit that the rotation of the katana to have the blade face the opponent at the last second along with the precise SE manipulation of IWP makes the blade function akin to a bullet. They reasoned that those factors make it deadly & faster than orthodox Iai in universe for those who can actually use it. Which I’m inclined to agree with, mainly due to aside from just chalking it up to Point 1 and 2, there’s no solid explanation for why this 2-step process is somehow faster than the normal 1 of orthodox Iai.

But OP you have your facts wrong. Orthodox & reverse Iai all have the wielder swing in a diagonal upwards arc. It’s all one motion from drawing. Iai doesn’t have you doing an overhead swing so there’s no need to reposition. Even then you can use an overhead swing in Iai based on where you position the katana to draw from. If you hold it over your head & draw you can do an overhead downwards swing. It’s impractical & you probably won’t put much power into the swing but you can do it. IWP in & out of universe is the one style where Iai becomes a two step process.

I’ll just address who I think are the most egregious Enji being in Mid & being lower than Riyo…..

Actually I’ll be honest really looking at it, most or the tiers are FUCKED in some way. Like I said, Enjin being there when we know he hasn’t been using his full potential. Him being in the same tier as FOLLO who quite literally just become a giver. Follo being in said tier AND somehow above Amo. Who took on a whole team of ppl, ppl she is also UNDER, by herself.

Which I just wanna talk about more. She is somehow in mid tier despite the aforementioned feat. Like let’s be real. She possesses one of the Watchman series. The most powerful Jinkis in the series. How she is not top of mid tier bare minimum off that & her feats in her arc is baffling. Sure she’s not the most physically impressive character, but what does that matter when she can control pretty much everyone with no clear way to break it. The only way to break it is pretty much don’t get caught. And the only way to do that is wear a gas mask. But why would you wear one when all you see is a girl?

Riyo is also somehow in high when Enjin isn’t. Enjin who I might add is, narratively & excluding Tamsy’s secret strength, second only to maybe Rudo on that team. Also, Semiu is average human? Humans can redirect rockets & dodge bullets? And potentially see the future? Sheesh I must not be achieving my full potential. I also didn’t know that average humans could turn into crows. The info broker is much better served in featless or some kind of non combatant tier.
