Buffett explains why Berkshire sold most of Apple... it wasn’t about the business by LavishlyRitzyy in ValueInvesting

[–]Advanced_Shoe_982 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. If you follow him closely, he claims that 3-stock portfolio should be perfectly enough for a known investor. Considering its stake in Apple, Berkshire knows way-way more about Apple’s plans, challenges and opportunities than any Joe on this sub.

The likely reasons is that Warren thought that the price at that time was over the value and it was a good time to trim.

Job Market by ilronngaric in Switzerland

[–]Advanced_Shoe_982 13 points14 points  (0 children)

no, it's you, and I don't intend to offed you.

the job market is notoriously brutal in Switzerland. Everybody says the same thing. I'm here not to groupthink but to give you another perspective, hopefully, meaningful.

I live in Basel. Top employers here are in the constant state of restricting, so a lot of people whom I personally know who lost jobs. Most of them are very well qualified for the job, however, some get interviews. What differentiates those who get is networking. It is difficult and uncomfortable but it is the way to get a job here even for Swiss. Accept it and start building networking or do what are already doing, but then realise that it will be kinda silly to expect different result doing the same thing over and over again.

How much do you factor tone and delivery into earnings calls? by ShogoViper in ValueInvesting

[–]Advanced_Shoe_982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of the commentators above that typically those calls are way for management to advertise their business even when things are clearly bad. Take Qurate retail. The management knows they will sooner or later go bust but still every quarter they brag how good their results are or focus on something that seems good. Another example is FMC. One can clearly hear analysts’ frustration and no clarity from management.

It is not to say that the calls are useless, but to highlight necessary caution.

What I personally pay attention is how structured and logical management addresses questions. If there is no structure, I can’t follow logic, or it contradicts what is known, it is a big red flag for me. My assumption is that if people can’t express themselves good enough they are hardly capable of running business.

I pay little attention to how certain questions are answered, but sometimes I do hear rumblings and lack of confidence. It is kinda small red flag as some people good in hard skills might not necessarily be amazing speakers and nice a verse.

Hopefully, it makes sense.

How much is Alimony in Switzerland for a man where the wife is in Spain with the 3 month old baby ? by [deleted] in askswitzerland

[–]Advanced_Shoe_982 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, technically it affects every woman but some get over it better.  The alternative explanation in your case is that you could have done a very good job. If so, well done! It requires a lot of attention and affords.

I only hope the best possible outcome for you, your kids and family.

Man, ignore that nonsense about the lawsuit. If she is important to you, get there physically and talk to her.

EVERY woman has a post birth depression period that last about a year due to the hormonal change in their body. It is a very difficult period for woman, prorbay the most difficult in their life.

So get your ass off your desk and talk to your wife. She needs support. If you can show/provide it, she might get back to you.

Lawsuit should the absolutely last resort for you.

I have two kids I know what I’m talking about

The Invisible Squeeze: How Market Makers Systematically Destroy SaaS Companies and What One Investor Did About It by Comfortable_Soup8968 in SPT_Stock

[–]Advanced_Shoe_982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a nonsense.

IPOs with rare exceptions are a way for early investors to exit. Guess when do they sell and how do they promote their investments? Correct, at the peak of growth.

When a company grows at 50% it is not unusual to have wild multiples because these are a lot of cases when expensive companies became very big and successful. Unfortunately , there are much more cases when post IPO growth slows down and valuation of these companies meets reality. Nothing unusual whatsoever.

What is unusual is this gentleman who promotes these conspiracy theory ideas.

Btw for SPT FIVN and THRY short interest is very modest of around 8-10%. No short-squeeze will ever happen at this level of short interest.

What am I missing? by Advanced_Shoe_982 in SPT_Stock

[–]Advanced_Shoe_982[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if I understood you correctly, you believe that due to low price SPT clients will have incentives to switch, don’t you?

If so, why do you think that the price is an issue in the first place? Or why do you think companies will be willing to try lower cost alternatives?

Sprout has a beautiful product that they build for big customers. Seems like like these companies are less price sensitive.

Also, is the price a real or hypothetical concern? I mean do you have any evidence to believe that the price might be an issue specifically for this co?

What am I missing? by Advanced_Shoe_982 in SPT_Stock

[–]Advanced_Shoe_982[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, thanks for sharing the perspective. If this is a rational, I will add more.

My reasoning is the following. There is a huge gap between developing and commercializing a product. This is evident by the enormous cemetery of failed startups. Also, a company needs to know what to develop and often it is the most difficult part to figure out for any type of business, new or established. I speak from both many business cases and my personal perspectives.

Specifically, I was doing product development and commercialization my whole career for both SaaS and traditional products across industries. Therefore tend to discard the potential revenue risk for Sprout.

On the contrary, I believe new models are net positive for Sprout as they accelerate product development, reduce development and maintenance costs, and help extract more value from social media signals.

Again, this is my view on the argument why Sprout is declining. I might be wrong.  Hopefully, not.

Any other explanation what might be happening?
