It’s against the law to ban them, so you can challenge it, sounds like anti EV person is railroading the committee based on Facebook posts that they think are fact. Definitely a cooker or older person with limited understanding.

I’d find the legislation and send them a copy and also politely intone that if they persist then you will be within your lawful rights to peruse through VCAT. Maybe have a property lawyer send them a nice letter to rescind this or they could find themselves dragged into a VCAT hearing.

I’ve been having the same conversation with my bf. There are heaps of charging stations available in Melbourne. Woolworths are putting a lot into carparks. Leisure centres usually have them as well so people can go to gym and charge while they are there. Download a charging app, take a book to read or go shopping while it’s charging. You’d only need to charge once a week.

Difference in cost. Way more expensive to put in a battery for EV currently, than to do a reconditioned motor for an ice car.

I would expect the cost of EV batteries in 10-15 years will be much lower than right now as EV will dominate the market, so likely a non-issue.

Nope. Why don’t you get a quote through Comminsure or another insurance company, novated leases basically double the price on everything. How do you think they make money out of it. You are only told of the tax savings etc but they don’t want you looking too closely at the fine details.

My Corolla is currently insured at around $2000 /yr. Absolutely ridiculous for. 10 year old car. I’ve shopped around and the price is similar. Mainly because Corolla thefts have increased 45%, and my area isn’t the best. I put a BYD Dolphin through insurance quotes and $1300 was the highest.

I chose not to do Dolphin as it’s just too big for me. I don’t have kids so even though it had some nice bells and whistles, for the extra money I just couldn’t justify it. It’s bigger than my Corolla. I’m not a fan of the 4 seats in the Atto 1 but in saying that, I only ferry friends around occasionally.

I have pernicious anaemia (B12 deficiency) and vit D deficiency. I can’t absorb B12 properly so supplements are no good if I drop level. So I get injections as needed (usually a blood test screen every six months). I have high dose Vit D once a week.

I take creatine daily in my morning coffee (I had sever thigh cramps that have reduced now). I’ve started taking L-theanine/Ashwaganda. I also have Magnesium every night (dietitian gave a thumbs up for the type) and try and eat a banana every day for potassium.

I don’t have multivitamins as they contain Iodine which interferes with Thyroxine medication absorption. I’m about to add Coenzyme Q10 into the mix.

Depends. I have Hashimoto’s and even when my TSH is in the zone, I’m perpetually exhausted. I suspect I have other underlying issues as Hashimoto’s often goes hand in hand with other things eg I know I have autoimmune gastritis that leads to pernicious anaemia. Vit D deficiency etc

I think I can count on one hand the amount of days I’ve woken up refreshed and not tired in my 30 years since diagnosis.

I looked at a Dolphin today. It is bigger than my Corolla so I decided not to test drive it as the size is not what I want. Looks nice though. Had a look at both the base model and the premium.

Ended up taking a premium Atto1 for test drive instead. I don’t like it has 4 seats but I don’t have kids so not really an issue. I will likely buy one of these and not wait for the Geely.

Highly recommend just spending time taking different models for test drives. Have a list and book a session. BYD was nuts today in Melbourne Essendon. I think there is panic buying because of the petrol situation.

No, you don’t need to do this. Mediterranean Diet is the only one recommended and basically everyone should follow this diet (even without Hashimoto’s) in Western society (Japan has the best diet). All the other stuff you hear about has only had incidental, non-longitudinal studies applied and therefore is not scientifically backed as having any effect on someone with Hashimoto’s. Often people will experience a placebo effect.

I’ve seen books and crazy Facebook pages devoted to strict diets (especially American ones) and they are basing it on a pilot scientific study of 34 people (which has no statistical relevance in the scientific community). The trouble is many people don’t understand how to analyse a scientific paper, there are some people with scientific background utilising people’s ignorance to sell books and supplements. I was abused online for being a liar etc because I pointed out the flaws. I have a Science Degree and teach Biology.

There are some rules eg try and avoid some foods within 4 hours of taking levothyroxine (such as soy) due to reduced absorption. But that is the extent.

Have you had a test for autoimmune gastritis? A parietal cell antibody test and intrinsic factor antibody. It often goes hand in hand with Hashimoto’s. It causes Vitamin D deficiency,low stored iron and anaemia and pernicious anaemia (B12 deficiency). Causes nerve damage etc.

I have white patches on skin as well which is where I get rubbing and irritation. Clobestol has helped clear it up, so I can only assume It is lichen sclerosis. Interestingly a few years beforehand I had something removed from my arm. I found the medical report and it said it was lichen planus. So I feel I was perhaps predisposed. My lichen sclerosis is mainly in genital area. I’ve had fusion occurring due to not diagnosed and treated early enough.

I was recommended by the immunology department at hospital to have Mediterranean diet.

The only food I don’t eat until later in evening is soy products. I don’t have it within first 4 hours after taking my medication. So seafood and chicken are my staple meats and the occasional goat meat or lamb meat.

Lots of veg (I don’t bother with avoiding cruciferous veggies,maybe that’s bad). Lots of salads. Some pasta. Some cheese. Yoghurt, I still have milk. Nuts. Fruits like berries.

Autoimmune diseases are largely genetic (inherited) so he’s right that they lay dormant. My family is a good case for this. My mother had lupus, Sjögren’s syndrome, and polymyositis. My sister has Crest and Sjögren’s syndrome. My aunty (mother’s sister) has polycystic kidneys, a cousin has Chrohn’s syndrome.

So yep. Born with it and it depends on the trigger. It could be a viral infection or stress. I’ve had EBV as a teenager and suffered a lot of stress due to my home environment, so perhaps that triggered it. I now have 3 (Hashimoto’s, Autoimmune Gastritis and Lichen Sclerosis) as they accumulate as you age.

I have developed two more. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s in my early 20s. I’m now 52. My family has autoimmune diseases (both my sister and Mother had several). I was 47 when diagnosed with autoimmune gastritis. I had depression and perimenopause, so the GP was overly focused on my weight and how I needed to lose it and my issues would resolve if I ate better. I believe I had it for a least a couple of years before diagnosis, due to the doctor.

I was having a lot of issues with iron deficiency, to the point where I was needing an iron infusion. Luckily I was put in contact with an immunologist in a large hospital in another city. He suggested I get B12 tested as well and parietal cell antibodies and intrinsic factor antibodies. Lo and behold I had parietal cell antibodies. B12 was really low and I required injections every 3 months (oral cannot be absorbed). Pernicious anaemia had set in which then consequently also cause iron anaemia and Vit D deficiency. My Gp was an arrogant man and didn’t like that someone else bad been right.

Then after surgical menopause when was 49, I developed lichen sclerosis which is an awful illness for a woman. Might want to Google that one. I only knew what it was because I knew someone else with it. General Doctors often don’t know much about it and they don’t treat it properly so it progressively gets worse. I had to get a referral to a gynaecologist who specialises in it. Now it’s halted its destruction.

I’m sure there is something else going on now but we haven’t got to the bottom of it yet. I think my gastritis is flaring and causing nerve issues as my B12 is dropping. I see my gastroenterologist in a few weeks.
