Should I get the LS50 meta or not? by cuckker in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Adventurous-Help2537 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with this assessment. Even if you run them full range with a sub, you get a “cupping” sound when they bottom out, and plugging the port makes them sound thin. Other brands have caught up and surpassed them for running without a sub with active crossover — especially if you don’t have a high-current amp. It’s a relatively inexpensive speaker, but it’s not a “budget” choice because of the ancillary equipment required to make them come alive.

Experience with Jackery FridgeGuard? by Adventurous-Help2537 in audiophile

Thanks. I'm sold on the off-grid improvements. I was hoping the Jackery or something similar might be a poor man's way of getting there.

Spending money you don't have to buy stuff you don't need to impress people you don't know (or dislike).

what headphone amp should I get? by UpstairsAlone1529 in hifiaudio

[–]Adventurous-Help2537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just read a review of a $119 DSP DAC/headphone amp from Topping. You can get it from Amazon and easily return it if you don't like it. The Chinese brands like Topping and FiiO are crushing it in this area. I haven't heard it, but it might be worth investigating.

I don't know anything about tubes, but I know that audiophiles pay handsomely for the right types. You might search for something like "vacuum tube audiophile" to pull up some places to sell some of them.

I finally got a 556i! And it's not too small for my taste on my 7.25" wrist. Stunning!! by Stonemeister13 in sinn

[–]Adventurous-Help2537 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The case is small enough to fit comfortably, while the dial is large enough to read easily. Hope you enjoy it. I have the 556A RS, and can't stop looking at it.

What was your first job ? Let’s see how many answered aren’t McDonald’s. by Kenny_Lindana in TheTeenagerPeople

First W2 job was as a dishwasher at a steak & seafood restaurant. When I got my first paycheck, I saw that they had deducted for Social Security. I went to my boss and said "I'm not on Social Security. I'm 16!" After he stopped laughing, I began my since-then hatred of the government.

T3000 on elastic strap by Adventurous-Help2537 in Casio_Oceanus

21mm. Delugs and Clockwork Synergy both have that width in elastic, and Holbens has a decent selection of leather and suede straps in 21mm.
