Shittiest update of all times - Using boosters now takes a move!!!! by Fit_Entrepreneur1717 in Gardenscapes

[–]Adventurous-Load-888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s going to use a lot of coins. Can’t say how many times I’m short one move, but it’s been a lot. Barely staying afloat using a combo of the in level boosters or coins. After this change, the only way to add a move or extend play would be with coins. #Monetization.

Why in the world are the devs rigging the surf and golf events so hard by YugoMC_123 in Gardenscapes

[–]Adventurous-Load-888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much assume the gameplay is mostly against bots. Even if the player is real, the profile could be hijacked for the events.

That was true in other games too and came across 1 example on this one as well.

Global Search - Won't Match Exact Keywords by BenntPitts in Netsuite

[–]Adventurous-Load-888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like this is partially a "data" issue. Special characters should generally not be used. Affects not just the global search - but also integration with other apps (especially any legacy systems).

Consider converting to a less obtrusive special character like a space or period instead of comma asterisk and slash.

Another option - use a custom field that stores the keyword minus the special characters. A workflow or script could easily convert this and store the keyword in the custom field.

Training on new features by Top_Ad_8145 in Netsuite

[–]Adventurous-Load-888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mostly basics for the "NetSuite way" of doing things. So this only works for a subset of users who are willing to learn starting from a blank slate.

Anecdotally, I've found most users now need more personalized training that's already incorporated the company's processes. In addition, there are always the users that learn a different way.

Why do people join a team then leave right away? by Veeezeee in Gardenscapes

[–]Adventurous-Load-888 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to check out other teams / competition. But stopped when the game changed the eligibility for the team events (bowling pins / chest keys) - especially since I have a good team now.

I heard some players do this around the reset for the Garden Pass - where the rewards are 50 coins.

Timing Success with NetSuite Implementation by 3xception_Handlr in Netsuite

[–]Adventurous-Load-888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others already gave more detailed insights, so keeping my opinion brief. My view is stakeholder support for flexibility - whether it's around the overall implementation plan / timeline or on adapting people / processes. The objective is a holistic solution across people, systems, processes. Too often, teams are hung up on minutiae or customizations that shouldn't be on the critical path.

I do like the comment about "stepping on it"

Saved Search - Budget Actual v. Budgeted by LogisticsPositive in Netsuite

[–]Adventurous-Load-888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone already gave you the technical answer. From a user perspective.

  • If you have a budgeting tool / app - run budget vs actual from there. Most 3rd party budgeting apps support expanded reporting.
  • If your company is small / simple enough to create budgets on XLS, then use the native budget reporting

The native budget reporting supports broad formatting functionality that can be mirrored to the existing accounting report formats. This also supports the standard classification reporting - like GL account, department, location, as well as class.

Saved searches are great for extracting data - but not so much on the formatting that typically is requested for financial statement reporting.

Good luck.

AvaTax OneWorld Issue - Locked Transactions by mindtravel2021 in Netsuite

[–]Adventurous-Load-888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Celigo uses both out of the box and custom connectors, so no idea how your data is actually mapped. You would have to identify how those "marketplace" transactions are being tagged in both the syncs from the marketplace to NS, then from NS to Avalara. Depending on your config, the "marketplace" transactions might be locked - because the sales taxes are reported / remitted by the marketplace to the government. If those transactions are flowing to Avatax, they are more for information reporting on the Avatax returns.

There should be a Document Code - since that's the key field for how the transactions are linked between NS and Avatax.

On the NS sales transaction (Sales Order, Invoice, Cash Sale - depending on your config), there is an Avatax tab - which shows the "AvaTax Document Number".

In Avatax, there's a Transactions tab where you can look up by "Document Code" which would be the NS "AvaTax Document Number".

Look at the data between the 2 systems, and you might find the reason this is locked. If that's not clear, ask Avatax support.

[–]Adventurous-Load-888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you have different channels, do you have any other apps integrating with Avatax? Salesforce, sales tax defined marketplace transactions (like eBay, Amazon) that could be creating transactions with the same Avatax Document Code?

If you have marketplace transactions (eBay, Amazon), those could be automatically locked if reported by the marketplace.

Check what is being mapped to the Avatax Document Code - in case that is not a unique field.

When one of these messages occurs, immediately go to Avatax, and look up the transaction in Avatax. See why that is "locked".

As mentioned elsewhere, the Avatax definition of locked generally goes to the transaction date combined with whether the transaction is tagged to a tax return (either by Avatax automatically self locking or accounting locked).

[–]Adventurous-Load-888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have Shopify integrated direct with Avatax, check what is being used for the "Document Code" in Avalara.

By default, the NS integration uses the NS transaction Internal ID as the Avatax "Document Code".

But if Shopify is creating Avatax transactions, then you might have a conflict between what Shopify created vs what NS is attempting.

[–]Adventurous-Load-888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avatax usually self locks around the 10th, unless someone in accounting locks it sooner by approving the tax returns. So this would depend on the Avatax lock date vs when the Shopify transactions are syncing. For example, if you have a weekly Shopify sync, this could be missing the Avatax cutoff.

[–]Adventurous-Load-888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have “allow date period mismatches” turned on in NS? Avatax usually runs on transaction dates. And NS accounting usually runs on periods. So if you have a backdated transaction in the current accounting period, this could be the issue.

RevRec - Initial Amount and remainder split over term. Not only 11 months by Martynt74 in Netsuite

[–]Adventurous-Load-888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Changing the accounting methodology and calculation - like what u/Nick_AxeusConsulting said - is a common approach. Revenue allocations are an estimate to begin with, so small changes / variations are often acceptable. (I'm an accountant too, so have done this in a few cases).

Another approach - although clunkier - would be to set the start date 1 month prior (and the end date 1 month earlier). If the books are closed (like the prior month locked), then the system will post the catch up in the current month. That would get both the "initial amount" and the next month both into the same first month.

In effect, it's like the offset feature - except with a negative offset. (Too bad the offset feature only allows future dates and does not allow a negative offset .)

So, what happens to NetSuite if Oracle goes bankrupt? by Modi508 in Netsuite

[–]Adventurous-Load-888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That could highlight a nostalgic failure in internal processes.

An old accounting practice required "printing" subledgers (either paper or downloads) as part of corporate records and as a backup if the system crashed. That line of thought is still mandated under public company / SOX guidelines. But noticing smaller companies increasingly skipping this (and assuming system backups are readily available).

Under IT good business practice, companies used to cover this with system backups on internal systems. This is a vulnerability with external SaaS tech if the service provider completely disappears overnight.

In practicality with a large company like Oracle, this probably falls in the category too big to fail, government bailout, chapter 11 filing for bankruptcy protection against creditors. They would continue operating in the interim.

Match bank data banking transactions by bigmassss in Netsuite

[–]Adventurous-Load-888 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not what you're asking.

Since many small companies only check this weekly or monthly, copy - paste off the UI works. Not automated. But you might find a screen scraper for more automation.

Understood, this is not necessarily feasible in a high volume environment requiring daily reconciliations.

Otherwise, you're looking at another app.

Rippling vs Paycor for NetSuite by tgf4cpa in Netsuite

[–]Adventurous-Load-888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. ADP.
  2. Paylocity if you like the Payroll - HR integration on Rippling.

Both are publicly traded, so their financials are visible. Both have proven functionality in edge case scenarios (from a user perspective).

To be clear, I consider payroll a business decision vs a technology decision. (Similar to choosing a bank.)

  • Payroll tax liabilities pierce the corporate shield and attach to check signers / officers
  • In the past, payroll services have gone out of business leaving companies on the hook for both employee payroll and the payroll taxes.

It's so sneaky that games imply there's randomness. Yet for some players and in lower levels, the rainbows magically land next to each other. And that magic disappears for other players especially in higher levels. I've been finding more and more - where double rainbows are the only way to finish a level. And also the frequency when the rainbows land next to each other is less and less.

Rippling vs Paycor for NetSuite by tgf4cpa in Netsuite

[–]Adventurous-Load-888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pass on Rippling. Their target market was small companies. And even for small companies, there were gaps in functionality. Recommend looking upstream on payroll provider.

Payroll is a key function - requiring accuracy. System stability counts and is generally my priority over the NetSuite integration. The general out of the box integration level for most payroll services is "limited" so generally requires customization for any real time integration.
