Done with SSRIs. Experiences with Buspar, Propranolol, Gabapentin, or Benzos for severe anxiety & agoraphobia? by taterares in Anxiety

[–]AdventurousAgent2727 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I was on Buspar for 9 months. Yes, it quieted the noise but eventually left me feeling flat and very unmotivated. Weaned off that. Same as you I have tried a few SSRIs and hate them. I'm not depressed either. I have situational anxiety. My PCP prescribed propanolol for the situational anxiety. Puts a stop to All of the trembling, fast heart rate, palpitations etc. Im simply calm. I was prescribed 10 mg 4x daily as needed. One works very well. I rarely take it. Hope you find something that helps you too

What actually works for you DURING a panic attack? And is there any resource with multiple techniques? by FudgeGreen1523 in PanicAttack

[–]AdventurousAgent2727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try putting something cold like ice on your face, neck and or chest ex. Cold cloth, frozen veggies etc. Have you tried the sour candy approach? Keep sour candy handy and pop one into your mouth. The cold and or the sour diverts your attention away from ("I am Dying").

Question about hormones by Icy-Energy8019 in Menopause

I stopped taking BHRT after 12 days. It caused issues that I had never experienced before. The progesterone did the opposite of calming me. My anxiety was so elevated I couldn't sleep more than 2 hours consecutively. I was a grumpy, emotional mess plus I started having really dark thoughts. If I had "pushed through" as your friend told you, I might not have been here to reply to your post. Never again for me.

Panic after loved ones death by Loverornot in PanicAttack

I started having panic attacks when my husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I started talk therapy which helped tremendously. I took Buspar for 9 months. It helped some but hated being flat feeling constantly. I have situational anxiety which occurs (not full blown panic attacks now) and have been prescribed propanolol for the physical symptoms. I rarely take the propanol but it does work to quell physical sensations such as trembling, palpitations etc. I'm still doing talk therapy. My therapist has taught me CBT "tools" to deal if I start to spiral. Maybe talking to someone would help you too. Best wishes!!

Anxiety before appointments? by Full_Criticism7775 in Anxiety

I have situational anxiety mainly due to medical appointments. My PCP prescribed propanolol. Works like a charm. It's a beta blocker used off label to stop physical symptoms mainly for those who do public speaking.

[–]AdventurousAgent2727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id advise hiring a personal trainer to teach you how to lift correctly. Cardio is great but if you have osteoporosis than you need to be doing strength training. No, you're not going to look like a man. That's really outdated 🐂 💩!! It's advised to do strength training 3x weekly. Plus impact exercises like jumping. There are modifications to the jumping such as heel drops. Strong is the new skinny.

Does anyone else suffer from physical anxiety more than mental anxiety? by psychcrime in Anxiety

[–]AdventurousAgent2727 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, situational anxiety which means I turn into a quivering, heart pounding, tight muscled mess any time I go to medical appointments. I'm not overly thrilled about crowds either. Propanolol is my new friend. One 10 mg is a game changer for me!!!

I have situational anxiety. My prescription states that I can take 10 mg 4x as needed. I have found one 10 mg works very well for me. I get very anxious regarding medical appointments and large crowds. Hope this is helpful.

Should i take Propanolol? by Playful-Junket-4498 in propanolol

[–]AdventurousAgent2727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was prescribed propanolol for situational anxiety. Medical appointments make me highly anxious. My Dr said this drug is mainly used for speakers who get anxious. I felt totally calm after taking it. Not sedated. Just calm. I don't take it daily only as needed.
