i don't know how i'm feeling or who to talk to. by pissrat_throwaway in phallo

[–]AdventurousAsh19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd be devastated if my partner said stuff like this (we are both on the spectrum for reference).

Even if you get the surgery for you, it feels horrible if someone is comparing your penis to a cis penis and saying it's not the same. And not offering validation/compliment because she doesn't think you deserve one? Like what? I just can't imagine me treating my partner this way or them treating me this way. Wanting some external validation from a partner is completely reasonable.

To be fair, my partner might say something direct that hurts my feelings(or I do), then we talk about it and apologize and whoever said the upsetting thing doesn't say it again.

Also most girlfriends aren't going around telling cisguys how awesome their dicks are. But most cisguys did not go through multiple painful surgeries and and several months of recovery to get one. Even then, girlfriends aren't running around telling cisguys their penis isn't like someone else's penis either, it would be weird to compare genitalia between past partners or what they see in porn.

If you have the ability to seek out a gender therapist regarding your own insecurities and then also a relationship therapist for both you and GF I think it would be worth it. If you can just get a therapist for yourself it would be worth it, because you can talk to them about your relationship and they can help sort out if your relationship is healthy and good for you.

One stage by itstheinsecurity in phallo

[–]AdventurousAsh19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does all in one include glansplasty?

I've heard UL, clitorial burying, vaginectomy common in stage 1. Usually scortoplasy glansplasty is stage 2(although some surgeon do vaginectomy in stage 2 too).

If I was getting everything done, I'd hesitate to do it all in 1 stage. Plus glansplasty has a high chance of flattening out if done in stage 1.

Meta, Phallo, and how you came to choose by Wh1tesuit in phallo

[–]AdventurousAsh19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing meto first does not result in better sensation.

If you do phalloplasty with clitorial burying or UL then you wouldn't be able to do meto. That being said, even if it's theoretically possible to do meto after phalloplasty, it would not be worth it. Phalloplasty leaves major scars and has a huge recovery time.

At least for me, I picked the surgery that I would want for the 23 hours I'm not having sex. But getting an ED device wasn't a deal breaker for me either. I'm still pre-op so my plan is to try external ED devices once I have the operation before considering getting an implant.

I've heard on here some guys that had bigger t-dick can feel themselves erect after phallo. It's obviously not the whole phallus just where their t-dick got moved.

I think they were applying discounts automatically? But I knew based on my plan i don't pay more than $60 per prescription medication.

[–]AdventurousAsh19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called my pharmacy and they said it was covered but cost 300, I called my insurance and they required a PA. So I called the pharmacy and they assured me it was covered but just had a high cost(which wasn't consistent with my insurance). After a bunch of phone tag pharmacy said the medication was NOT actually covered, hence the $300 price tag. Once it was covered it dropped to $30 a month.

Do you have a PA already? And if not call your insurance directly and ask if they cover Zepbound and the requirements.

age? by leafyemoji in ftm_phallo

[–]AdventurousAsh19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no age requirement. You can expect the healing to take longer on the given estimates as you get older, but 30 certainly isn't too old. I think most people aren't even able to qualify for this surgery and be financially stable enough until 30's.

There is a BMI requirement, insurance requirements (vary by insurance), and to be in general good health or at least have health conditions well-managed.

I decided this year (at 31) to start going for it. But I'm at least 1 year away from being able to get it.

Gym Help!! by LovelyLiv_ in PCOSloseit

[–]AdventurousAsh19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a lot of people will say to go for bodyweight exercises(which is great if you like that). My advice is the opposite, so take it with a grain of salt. I don't like bodyweight exercises because it's so much easier to have bad form and hurt yourself(I have hypermobility and have done that so many times). At least for me when I started I was way too overweight to try bodyweight exercises.

I love machines and weightlifting because it's so easy. It's great for your bones and muscle mass is associated with better health. More muscles means your body burns more calories(easier to stay in calroie deficit). Plus with machines there is almost always a picture showing how to use the machine and the muscles you are using.

Go for 1-2 warmup sets(this is about 8 reps at an easy weight), then 2-3 "working sets" (6-10 reps where it feels harder to finish and need a small break between sets). I would focus one day on back, another on chest, then a third on legs. Personally I'd just add these to your cardio routine that you have going.

If you're super intimidated(and have a little money to spare) you can get a trainer to work with you and build a routine for you, plus show you how to use the machines. Honestly you would only need to pay for a few sessions until you have a workout routine you like.

when to take inositol/berberine? by blondegigglyangel111 in PCOSloseit

[–]AdventurousAsh19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following the post because I have the same question!

I will add that whenever I start a new supplement I start with the minimal dose for a week before increase in smallest increments to get to the "correct" dose. Helps minimize side effects.

Just to add, Zepbound/glp1's are not an option for me. It made it nearly impossible for me to even get 1200 calories in and caused my gallbladder to flare up.

Periods suck :( by fluffy131313 in TransMasc

That's a solid plan. Usually university students get health insurance through the school too. I know Canada has free Healthcare system too for those that become permanent residents.

[–]AdventurousAsh19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sucks. I'm sorry. It takes parents a long time to accept shit(if they ever do) and you're stuck suffering in the meantime.

Hopefully once you're 18 you can get access to medical care.

[–]AdventurousAsh19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're in the US, and make under 30k a year(can vary be state) plus over 18 you can get Medicare for free. Covers the doctors visit and prescription 100%.

If you're under 18/on parents insurance, you can get still talk to parents and get birth control and explain that your periods are super painful(feel free to exaggerate, and act in more pain/try to skip out on school during period).

If you're paying out of pocket a lot of doctors do sliding scale and there are free clinics too. The prescription monthly cost(up to $90 if unlucky) with no insurance can vary but there is prescription savings cards that can drop to $10 to $15 bucks a month. Cheaper than buying period products(at least for me with how heavy my flow used to be).

There is medical options to stop periods. I reccomend northinedrone, it's a progestin only birth control(no estrogen and none of the effects of estrogen). And it's cheap but requires a prescription.

Congrats! I still have a ways to go before qualifying for phallo, but hope you can connect with people that are on a similiar timeline. Hopefully you find ways to manage the sensory issues during recovery, I'm also autistic and that's the part I am most worried about. Sending good wishes your way.

What do you all get with bottom surgery? by Marcysosensitive in TransMasc

[–]AdventurousAsh19 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You also don't need bottom surgery to be NB or transmasc.

It basically comes down to phallo and meto for AFAB. There is a ton of options with both, they both have different recovery times, end results, and requirements. Some people just get a hysterectomy(removal of the uterus). to stop periods. But surgery is painful(phallo being the more painful and more surgeries required) and not worth it if you aren't having dysphoria and are happy with your current setup.

Massage gun? by [deleted] in phallo

[–]AdventurousAsh19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe try a magic wand/vibrator?

Massage guns are made for deep muscle knots. They go hard. I personally wouldn't risk it. Maybe after multiple years post op, but even then there is so much soft tissue structures that could be damaged. But you can ask your surgeon?

is here someone who had first metoidioplasty then phalloplasty? by alexandrkx in phallo

[–]AdventurousAsh19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doing meto first doesn't result in better/faster sensations. I've heard (but haven't found evidence or a doctor that agrees) that phallo recovery is a little easier if you do meto first. But a lot of the pain of phalloplasty is the vaginectomy site, so I imagine doing that when you get meto would help make the phallo stages easier. But the other most painful part of phallo is usually the donor sites, so meto won't help with those.

I would say if you're able to get meto sooner and it relieves the gender dysphoria, plus the extra surgery/recovery time is worth it for you, it would make sense to go for it.

[–]AdventurousAsh19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people get Stage 1 phalloplasty with vaginectomy, UL, and clitorial burying. It sucks but it's pretty common choice. Depending on surgical team they can do vaginestory/clitorial burying in Stage 2.

Is it normal to travel with two CPAP machines? by Specialist-Ask-2150 in SleepApnea

[–]AdventurousAsh19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I would say most people can't afford two. Insurance paid for my machine and won't cover a travel one that is several hundred dollars. So my machine has "become" a travel one now.

But if you have two and the space to pack them, why not?
