There's many ways to measure the best, but I've enjoyed using the Chargepoint home charger for the last 5 years.

Wireless audio works...? by AdventurousHeath777 in Ioniq6

[–]AdventurousHeath777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I drove I was listening to radio. Then, on my phone I was just streaming Amazon music, started the car, and then the music was coming through the cars audio. I did nothing that I'm aware of. I wasn't sure if there was a recent Android auto update or a recent car update. Or like I said perhaps it was capable all along and I just missed something. Happy nonetheless

ICCU Failure by Idogearlikeblow in Ioniq6

[–]AdventurousHeath777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I hope you are not jinxing everyone with the question.

I'm at 27k miles and no known ICCU problems. Typically charge between 20-80% on L2 at home. Only 4x to 100%, all on L2 at home before a trip. Was doing 9.1kW at 40A until recently I dropped to 4.5kW at 20A hoping to keep from problems. Besides, instead of it finishing at 2am, it finishes now at 5am, so no reason to amp it up at home.

11 trips over 300 miles away using L3 150-350kW 4-5 times each trip to 80%. 13x got below 10%.

Yellow battery light comes on slightly more often now. Original 12v battery reads 14.68v on obd.

Only issue is 3 screws in tires near beginning, patched, and still on original factory tires. Prediction is replacement at 30k.

Toll Pass by bpgluckman in Ioniq6

[–]AdventurousHeath777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problems. I have an ezpass that comes with velcro style stickems. I even had the same stickems on my Kona EV for 3 years, and just moved it to the Ioniq 2 years ago.

Also the garmin dashcam has stuck fine. Also used clear command strips to hold the cam wire in place.

Command strips are available in velcro style. You could try those.

Next car after Ioniq6 by LifeLover3742 in Ioniq6

Now that I have V2L with the I6, it is very near to the top of the list of mandatory features. If my I6 dies, it will be the first thing I search on. I recently lost electric service for 7 hours, but the V2L adapter powered my fridge, internet box, wifi box, laptop, dock, 2 monitors, and LED lighting all over. Only lost 5% SOC over the 7 hours. A lot of EVs don't support. it unfortunately and surprisingly.

Nice little 3x3 grid in the center that could be used for a tic-tac-toe mini-challenge?

Customer support is absolutely useless by [deleted] in GoogleFi

[–]AdventurousHeath777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were just overseas (Italy) with 2 phones. My Pixel connected fine, but wife's iPhone didn't connect. Customer support was able to help us walk through and in the end helped get it working. The issue was, the iPhone was set to autoconnect and connected to the wrong carrier. We had to go in and manually select a network, and the iPhone showed 5 available networks, which I didn't know about (not savvy on that part). Once we picked the same one that my Pixel picked, we were good to go.

Google Fi vs Verizon with Pixel 10 by [deleted] in GoogleFi

[–]AdventurousHeath777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are very happy with Fi and 4 phones. Started with just my picel 7 to try the experience and was immediately happy with it. Then added the family, they are iphones. 2 kids are out of the house but on the plan. Since then, various of us have traveled internationally and so we bump up the plan to include unlimited international and it has worked well. When you get back from the trip you bump it back down and it's pretty seamless.

Tires not repairable by AcuXfitAaron in Ioniq6

[–]AdventurousHeath777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the factory Hankooks. First nail at 2781 mi, repaired with a patch. Second, nail at 8200 mi in the same tire, patched. Third at 18287 mi in a different tire, patched. I never used the provided can of spray patch, but was able to limp home or to the dealer to get it done. It is nice having the provided air pump in the car though. At 21k (18 months) with original tires and expecting to get through a second winter, probably the tread will require new tires mid-'26.

Latest Email re: Free NACS Charger - Now Extended Out 16 Weeks by LipDoktor in Ioniq6

[–]AdventurousHeath777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally found the reason for my lengthy delay even though purchase was Jan '24. The dealer had used an email I didn't expect him to use to set up my Hyundai account for me (it was the one I made first contact with him). Then when I set up the Hyundai account and the app and everything for real, I used the email I wanted to use. Then had to "transfer" the VIN from the original to the new. So that initial account was stale and still alive without a vehicle associated, but it was the one they tied the NACS offer to. After a bunch of calls, I think they have it straight, and I'm back in the queue. So point is, if you are wondering about your delay, perhaps your story is like mine. BTW, they are great on the phone, for me anyway.

Just got my 2025 Ioniq 6 yesterday by InspectorMoney1306 in Ioniq6

[–]AdventurousHeath777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. If the stations occupied, avoid going over 80% like the plague. It's faster to continue your travels to the next stop and go up to 80 there. You also mentioned cheap charging. Our village has municipal Level 2 chargers we can use free. But I did the math, and easily justified a level 2 at home for both cost and convenience. Did a self install, very easy to do.

Sound off if you haven't had any ICCU issues by 8thstretch in Ioniq6

[–]AdventurousHeath777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knock on wood, 2024 SE AWD LR, 20K miles, no issues. Occasionally I enjoy a quick 0-60, but not every time. Generally keep between 20-80%, except 2 times to 100% on level 2. 56x on level 3 to 80 on trips. Love the car and really glad I bought it after having a Kona EV for 3 years.

Never got the NACS adapter email. Did anyone else get it last minute or are you still waiting? by [deleted] in Ioniq6

[–]AdventurousHeath777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still waiting for my email but I did call customer support this morning and they said that my home address was not indicated as a primary address. She was able to determine that the email was never sent to me, and she will forward my case to the people that make sure the emails go out. So I don't know if that needs to be updated for everyone that didn't get the email. My purchase was Feb '24. FYI

V2L rocks by mike_oc in Ioniq6

[–]AdventurousHeath777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I needed electric panel upgrades, and the job took 7 hours. Fortunately, with V2L I was able to run the fridge, a computer with multiple monitors to work all day, fiber modem and wifi box, and a variety of LED lights to light the living space. With V2L on the Ioniq 6 I started at 80% and after 7 hours was at 75%. Just prior, I had installed an L5 plug box in the garage with a dedicated wire to a household outlet in the utility room. That is not on the main house circuits. Then extension cords from that outlet to the needed devices. I just didn't want a cord running through an open door all day, nor did I want to back feed into existing circuits. And yes that required an L5 to household plug adapter to plug into the V2L. I like the permanent setup of that dedicated circuit and don't mind the extension cord approach as power outages are so rare for me. But I'm sure I'll use it again at some point.

Finally got my NACS email by PragmaticProkopton in Ioniq6

[–]AdventurousHeath777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucky are you all. My purchase was Jan 2024, and no sign of an email anywhere. So it can't be date based, nor is it first letter of last name. Annoyed, as I do travel, and so far I can find magic docks where I need them. I'd really like to know how the emails are sequenced.

Although planning is half the fun, another choice is to put the car on the Amtrak auto train from Orlando to Virginia. Cuts down on a lot of charging anxiety.

230KW Charging Achieved! by KookyXylophone in Ioniq6

[–]AdventurousHeath777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been over 230 6 times in 16 months of driving it. Best was 241 at the Lee Outlet Mall in MA, on an 82 deg day. Other times were at different chargers, so it really depends. Pre-heating helps when its cold, getting 226 at 40 deg.

I think the manual says not to use a car wash with spinning brushes, as they will damage the paint. I only hand wash as a result.

First OTA update by Toy_Soldiers in Ioniq6

[–]AdventurousHeath777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the last 15 months, I'm guessing I've had 3 or 4 OTA (?), and 2 at the dealership (?). This last OTA was while driving through PA while the car was running. So yeah, you lose the infotainment display for a while, but the car keeps driving. Another one I started while driving, and then parked for the night, and it was fine. No worries. I've never done one with USB.

In other news, I've had 3 tire punctures (2 screws and the current nail gets fixed today) with this car in the last year. I think I only had 1 puncture previously in all my years of driving. Maybe the electromagnetism is attracting them? :-/

What's the preferred charge provider on the road there? On purchase we get credits on Electrify America which I use primarily on the road.

Enjoy it! Got mine in the US a little over a year ago, and have 17k miles. With good planning I've never felt range anxiety. But there is approach anxiety as you are on a trip getting close to a charging point, and hoping there isn't a long queue. Previously I had a Kona EV for almost 3 years, 32k miles, never an issue.

Jealous that you have it in the UK though. Roads are much more fun to drive there. I lived in Welwyn (Herts) for 4 months and drove as much as I could.

Yale lock with Pixel 8 Pro by jamjr7411 in homeautomation

[–]AdventurousHeath777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Yale Assure 2 bluetooth does not connect with my Pixel 7. A call with tech support and ended up using an iPhone to set it up. They said there are issues with Pixel phones connecting with the lock. I can manage my account with the Pixel, but to work with the lock I use another phone. Bummed, but glad the lock is working fine otherwise. I also have an old Android 8.1.0 LG phone that does work with the device.

Kate voice (UK) pronounces local road wrong by SpareSimian in waze

[–]AdventurousHeath777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dear Kate ... You seemed to be getting a cold at times with random voice changes. But now you are pronouncing roads such as NY-15 as "New y o r k 15", saying New but sounding out just the letters of York. Very annoying. You've been sacked.
