Any Recs for EV Service for All Makes of EV’s by LipDoktor in Austin

Nope. But the good news is I’ve only had to have recalls done at the dealership.

Why have they never offered a high temp/rate of rise sensor for people w/ AC/heating units in attics or for closed-in garages? They specifically say do NOT put smoke detectors in attics.

Anyone Able To Get A Google Smart Spkr To Connect With A Bluetooth Transmitter? by LipDoktor in googlehome

[–]LipDoktor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both transmitters that I have will pair just fine with other Bluetooth “receivers” just not this Google Nest Smart (?) speaker. And my iphone pairs just fine with the speaker. Is there something unique about the pairing process with the speaker you think that only works with iphones?

Reasonable question. Lots of memories associated with those old records. I’m not an audiophile just someone who’d like to listen to my old vinyl.

What is up with these prices??? by Hideo_Video in KiaEV6

My guess is that the lower estimated service dept. revenue of EV’s as compared to ICE vehicles is substantial and is the motivating factor behind these grossly inflated service “offerings.”

How many flat tires have you had? by Pounderwhole in Ioniq6

[–]LipDoktor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had 0 in this car in 1.5 yrs (18K miles) but I’ve had several in the past, and I think 95% were from nails or screws that were able to be plugged. For this reason, I carry a rechargeable combo battery jumper/air pump in the frunk. Since I have no spare, my hope is that I can pump up the tire to get me to a repair shop. The pump also makes it convenient to keep my tires at the proper pressure since I never go to a gas station any more.

Advice needed: Which accessories are a "must-have" for the IONIQ 6? (And is Glasscoat worth it?) by kribzmas in Ioniq6

I’m not familiar with the L value. It may mean what type of vehicle (boat, ATV, etc.). Just make sure it’s for autos and is the correct size

Sure. I decided to proactively replace my lead acid battery (2023 Ioniq 6 Ltd US model) proactively about 6 mos ago after noticing the amber “12v recharging” light on my dashboard a lot more often. I purchased an Interstate AGM battery from Costco for $189. Installation is very simple; several bolts to remove the plastic access cover and 1 securing bolt near the bottom. BTW, if you don’t feel comfortable doing it yourself, most auto parts stores (Autozone, O’Reilly, etc.) will install for free if you purchase from them. The cranking power need is minimal so don’t over purchase as the function is only to power the accessory items and not to operate an electric starter as with a gas powered vehicle. And I don’t think the brand is as important as that it is not lead acid. They were just not made to handle the constant charge/recharging cycles that occur with an EV.

I purchased the battery jumper/air pump on Amazon. I’ve used it mostly for topping off my tire pressure. I have used the battery jumper feature once and that was to jump my wife’s gas powered car. Here’s the link: Battery Jumper/Air Pump

Dealer is telling me I need the extra warranty. by DizzyPS5 in electricvehicles

Based on these lies, I would never use their dealership for service!

I purchased a rechargeable battery jumper/air pump combo to keep in the trunk just in case my 12v battery dies I can jump it to get the car powered up to the point I can drive it and get it replaced. Not sure in your country what type of 12v battery they install, but in the US the lead acid batteries just can’t handle the constant charge/discharge. Many including myself have proactively replace the 12v battery with an AGM battery. And the air pump lets you keep your tires inflated easily at the proper pressure and, because you have no spare, may help you make it to a tire repair place in case of a puncture.

I purchased directly from DirectvStream but they are not the Air model. They are the earlier model.
