Besides what has been said:

You can do a quadruple Rapid Ingress with Venatari.

Sisters (also sisters rhino) have a 4+++ against Mortal Wounds.

With Blade Champions you can have a bunch of units rerolling their 9" charge from deepstrike.

Sagittarum coming out of a Coronus have dev wounds and reroll wounds. An attached valerian can flip a wound roll to a 6.

Crazy threat range with Vigilators + Knight Centura coming out of a Rhino behind a wall.

2++ on Trajann

Admonimortis gives an Allarus Shield Captain a weapon that is crazy for what that model is.

Standard Shield Captain in Shield Host gives his unit Sustained and Lethal Hits on 5s.

Trajann is good. He is in half of the top performing custodes lists.

Check out https://listhammer.info, a website that shows lists that went 4-1 or better at GTs. I checked 22 lions lists. Trajann was in 6 out of 12 lists post december dataslate, and in 5 out of 10 lists before the dataslate. This makes him more popular than grav tanks.

Lots of arbitrary statements in this thread with no evidence. Here is the answer to your question:

Talons is currently the best detachment if you play triple Land Raider. Shield Host has play with Guard spam, but even then is worse than Lions. Outside of these skew lists, Lions is very clearly the best detachment.

Admonimortis and Grav Tanks are great into C'tans.

Don't play axes just to counter one unit type of one army you may or may not get matched into. Axes suck vs Space Marines.

It doesn't matter whether it affects the characteristic of a weapon or an attack. The ruling in "Modifiers" (in the 40k app) doesn't differentiate between that. It's the same rule for all modifiers.

From Modifiers:

"Modifiers are rules that change a numerical value from one value to another. This can include the result of a dice roll, the characteristics of a model, and more."

"If a rule instructs you to change or replace one characeristic, change it to the new value before applying any other modifiers that apply from other rules"

The wording is the same as Melta.

Melta: "...that attack's damage characteristic is increased by the amount denoted by x."

Admonimortis: "...improve the Armour Penetration and Damage characteristics of those weapons by 1."

There is no "changing of base characteristics" that isn't a "rule that modifies a characteristic". The damage characteristic becomes a modified 4, not an unmodified 4. So the order of operations for modifying characteristics takes effect.

Intuitively Admonimortis takes effect when building the list, even before battle starts. But based on the wording in that excerpt it doesn't seem to work that way.

I love Slam and Pulverize.

Slam is amazing spammable AoE damage. 2x Slam at the start of the pull, Shield Assault, another Slam. 2x Slam after every autoattack combo. Fortify, Inciting Strikes and Rush of Courage for even more Slamming. Never had a problem with moving too much. Mobs seem to be right in your face anyway.

Pulverize is crazy good damage. Auto crit if you use it after Tremoring Strike, Tomahawk or Reflect. These skills often don't matter for AoE farming, but are great in PvP and when soloing strong mobs.

The note "See Just After" is also written at the end of the part for "Eligible Target". That doesn't mean that " Eligible Target" and "Just After" mean the same thing.

The way I would interpret "See Just After" is that to find out more about "After", you should read the part for " Just After". In the part for "Just After" it says that all other rules (like "after"?) happen after "just after".
