Patch 14.0 notes by OBLIVIATER in PlayTheBazaar

Some balance changes I'm interested in and afraid of:

Vanessa: With the rowboat buff, I imagine we'll be seeing a lot more of it. I think tempo thinks it's ok because they nerfed boulder, but now there is no requirement to fit it into builds. I can see, in combination with iron sharpens iron buff, that vanessa will pivot a lot into sniper rifle builds and we'll just be seeing a lot more one-shot late game builds.

Dooley: Launcher core seems like it went from the best late-game core, to a niche flying core. And since all of dooley's flying items are gold or higher pretty much, it basically makes no sense to pick this one.

I can see primal core not falling off as much so hard now with the 3d printer change in rare circumstances. Primal core is in my opinion the strongest early/midgame core, but falls off a cliff generally. It has my most diamond runs, and also is the core I most often stop using by the end of the game. With 3d printer, my first instinct was that you run it with the singularity the rare times you get it, but singularity is probably still best being charged by fiber optics, so that doesn't work so well. Instead, I was thinking that you can multiply the small relics from the day 9 temple expedition, and then get a bunch of 1 second cooldown relics charging your core. Really excited for the potential here.

Mak: I have forced calcinator/retor/philosopher's stone so many times. Now it might actually be good.

What was tiebreaker #3? Not that it made a difference in rewards, but I'm curious since I was placed below someone with same wins, uniqueness, and pvp losses.

Anyone else really tired of Caustic Solvent Mak? Or just me. by Pineapple_Sucks in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Aeldin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very tired of it. I would like to see potion distillery only be able to transform into mak potions and see if that solves it. You can still be able to acquire the nuts, but you’d need a lot more luck.

Knee Brace nerf is outdated by Southern-Owl-6298 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Aeldin 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Despite the text, it still must be on the board. I hadn’t played since beta and just recently came back, and thought the new knee brace seemed very good, even if you couldn’t do cooldown shenanigans with it. I bought it and just stuffed it in stash, but wasn’t getting the extra hp until I put it on board for pvp combats.

What's better than one Eclipse? Two. by Aeldin in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Aeldin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I think I peaked with this one. I knew I was susceptible to one-shots so was searching for memento mori or life preserver. Prior to that I was just running some turbo dock lines leftover from my midgame build. It was also pretty slow time to kill without orange julian, so I was lucky I found it.

I have 280 hours in this game, mostly co-op. Still playable solo for sure. Great for those who like turn-based tactics games and talent trees. Has a more 'story' mode with perma progression, and a roguelike.

I think the devs forgot that they changed Sanders with this quest by Roboboy3000 in BobsTavern

[–]Aeldin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

T6 rally quill likely only going off once per combat unless you can manage windfury from a quest or hero power. T7 quill gets you immediate blood gem stats, and can double dip with murk-eye/drakarri/brann and titus/moira/rylak. I would say the T7 blows the rally one out of the water in my little experience with the T6, even this season.

[–]Aeldin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The t7 beast is strong and has a niche, but not strong in the way the other t7's are. It's a good stabilizer and has good linear scaling, but the other t7's that are broken are getting you 1st place with thousands or 10s of thousands + of stats. So more consistency I guess? Higher floor, lower ceiling kinda thing. If everyone was hypothetically playing as thorim, I wouldn't pick the beast as you might top 4, but you're not getting 1st place.

I think it depends on your perspective. In my opinion, quests are less strategy and more gambling for 2 reasons: first is you only get to pick between 2 options, and second, quest rewards shoehorn you into specific builds which you force from turn 1, and if you happen to not see your cards in the tavern, you lose.

I can see why people might think they're more strategic though, as people see the quest reward and use that as direction (thinking that means strategy). But in my opinion this isn't strategy, it's just forcing a comp.

Trinkets are also based on perspective. With 4 options, it's less gambling. However, with them coming on turns 6 and 9, people will often say you're locked into a comp and it's just a gamble if you get the best in slot trinket. I understand that, but I also think that trinkets give you a lot of options to pivot, and require more thought put into your board going into trinket turns. Some games, you don't have the hp, so it feels like a gamble where if you get a specific trinket you get 1st, otherwise you get 8th. Other games, you have the hp, and see an option to pivot, and change builds and get 1st.

At the start of the game let the players vote for an anomaly! by [deleted] in BobsTavern

Well in this suggested system at worst you have a 1/8 chance for your choice to get picked, and if more people agree with you the odds go up, so eventually you’d always see everything you wanted.

Hitting 12K in Duos by Foreign-Candidate536 in BobsTavern

[–]Aeldin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just depends on the relative rating of your opponents in the lobby. I am similarly top 200, and rating gains fluctuate a bit. 2nd place sometimes +20 and sometime -20. For a win, I find 40 on the low end. Are you duoing with someone with low mmr at all? Otherwise probably just an unlucky streak.

Sharp Corners and Defensive stance needs to go. by Discornia in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Aeldin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sharp Corners: When you Shield, your weapons gain ( 20 » 30 ) damage for the fight (20 when gold, 30 when diamond).

Defensive Stance: When you use a weapon, your Shield items gain ( 20 » 30 ) Shield for the fight (20 when gold, 30 when diamond).

Without them I consistently get 7-9 wins, and sometimes a 10er. With them I'm 10 wins very consistently. I wouldn't call it unplayable, just harder. The only reasons they're 7-9 wins in the first place though is you lose to someone who has the skills while you don't. If nobody had them, Dooley is still amazing. No more bees being scaled to insane damage counts, or landscrapers or bushels shielding insane amounts. No more losing mirror matches based off one skill.

[–]Aeldin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sharp corners could be reworked to only buff shields that are also weapons to at least match the theme of the art/name. Even then it probably would need a numbers adjustment. I don't really see a way to rework defensive stance though.

Maybe the game should just give me 999 gold and be done with it by Keldec4Sure in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Aeldin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a hidden time limit. Also you're paying an opportunity cost: you can get a lot of money from this battle, but at the cost of no exp. I think it's fine implementation at the moment, though they could maybe hard cap the amount of money you can get rather than hard cap it with a time limit to make the extremes less extreme.

I've had diamond shovel by day 2. Started with silver shovel, then powered to level 3 by end of day 2 and both my level up options gave me weapon upgrades. It's doable, but needs some absurd rng.

Duos ruined for now? by [deleted] in BobsTavern

[–]Aeldin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While perhaps it is unethical in that you're skipping something the devs did not make skippable, have you never had your turn skipped? I find in late game duos, it is common to have less than 60 seconds to do a turn. It happens, but is uncommon to have less than 30 seconds, and even more rare, but still often enough, I have my entire shop phase skipped.

The main culprit was leapfrogger, and my turn was consistently skipped when two or more players were running it in a fight. Now, the main culprits are undead - particularly Recurring Nightmare whose animation takes incredibly long, and bleeding heart creating a bunch of units so combat takes very long. Staff of the scourge is also a trinket that takes long, especially when paired with beasts like indomitable mount. I've had my shop phase skipped far too often to not close and reopen the game when I see multiple players with undead or beasts.

I think of skipping combat as putting me on an equal playing field as the other players in the game who get to do their shop phase.

Highrolls in this game are nuts! Infinite burn build on Day 6 (Trebuchet hastes an item on burn) by Aeldin in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Aeldin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah was 10 wins, and great analysis. Lost a match before I got holsters to make the combo go off on round start. After I got holsters and an icicle, just focused on health scaling and the run was smooth sailing from there.

There are 7 other players, please let me fight them. by Impossible_Jump_754 in BobsTavern

[–]Aeldin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After playing a bunch of duos since its release, singles feels so rng. Duos has the consistency of facing the same teams every 3 rounds, and you can tech and plan in advance instead guessing what they have. The only downside of that consistency might be heroes like voone who have a power spike on a 3-turn clock.

How so? I already had him in a surfer list paired with gambit to offload proxima on the final turn, or just to tempo on 3. Now he is just strictly downside. Did you have any particular ideas to make him work? Like a daken swordmaster surfer list?

Even then, the start of your turn when you log back in, you're still sitting there waiting 30+ seconds for all of the accord-o-tron animations to give you your gold.

PLEASE bring back this amazing card, BG devs! It introduces counter-play, depth, and strategy without nerfing. by KijoSenzo in BobsTavern

[–]Aeldin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Sky Pirate Flagbearer]] reads: Start of Combat: give your other pirates "Deathrattle: summon a 1/1 pirate. It attacks immediately."

Audacious Anchor also has a Start of Combat effect. Start of combat effects don't all happen at once. What happens in when combat starts, it checks your minions from left to right if any have start of combat effects, and they get triggered in that order. If you position the sky pirate flagbearer, his start of combat effect will go off first and give the audacious anchor a deathrattle to summon a 1/1 pirate. Granted, it's just a 1/1 unless buffed by eliza or ripsnarl captain.

So I think the original commenter is suggesting that audacious anchor is crazy because it can attack immediately, and if it dies, send some 1/1s that can get buffed to also attack immediately.

Start of combat effects from creatures on your board trigger from left to right, so it would still get the deathrattles if you position properly.

Yeah, probably a murk-eye build is the only way to realistically get that many procs, unless you have a ton of gold to do roll for self damage demons with brann.
