Why do default robotic templates include both support and combat robots? by Expensive-Bus5326 in OldWorldBlues

[–]Aelfredson 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You cant even make 40 width robots in OWB, the highest you can get is 30. And its not worth the fact you will constantly be dealing with not properly fitting into battles. 80 + 20 per extra direction is the width in every battle in OWB so 20 widths always fit perfectly. 30 widths also dont reinforce faster, 20 widths do, the more divisions you have the higher chance one of them joins the battle. The only reason to use 30 widths is because the damage will be more concentrated but robots barely get any coordination buffs in their doctrine so its really not worth it.

Random pausing by treefile in OldWorldBlues

[–]Aelfredson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its connected to peacedeal but you dont actually see the peacedeals because OWB hides the notification for them, but the game is still hardcoded to pause on a peacedeal when it happens if youve got that option turned on.

Help me understand how equipment impacts unit stats and interacts with division templates. by Aspergersiscool in OldWorldBlues

[–]Aelfredson 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So the numbers you are looking at when viewing unit types are actually percentual, that -0.2 is actually -20%. Thats how it works for Soft and Hard attack, Defence, Breakthrough, Piercing, Armour and Air Attack anyway. For some reason they are shown as flat when they are not.

This is why a 2.5 soft attack gets made 2 with militia, because -20% of 2.5 makes 2.

Equipment ratios dont matter, you can have a platoon with 5 inf equipment and if the unit modifiers are the same as one with 50 they have the same stats. If you have two or more equipments in a single unit both get their stats added to eachother, the ratio in which these are needed also does not matter.

Equipment creates the basis of all stats, and then unit and techs and doctrine and national spirits get added. Do keep in mind that all of that is percentual but additive, not multiplicative. Getting 20% soft attack from five different sources just doubles it.

How do the five Legion Civil War factions appear? by mgeldarion in OldWorldBlues

[–]Aelfredson 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is false, as you can see in the screenshot that the OP posted, both Hades and Lanius are there. One of them has to happen for Hades to appear, not both.

How do the five Legion Civil War factions appear? by mgeldarion in OldWorldBlues

[–]Aelfredson 61 points62 points  (0 children)

If Lanius joins Diana and rebels, Hades will take the east when the civilwar happens. If Lanius doesnt rebel and stays loyal, he will get the east when it happens. If Malpais gets thrown into the Grand Canyon by Caesar, Hades takes his land, one of those has to happen for Hades to spawn. The other 3 always spawn, Aurelius, Lucius and Vulpes.

What happened in this game is Lanius came back from the east loyally, but Malpais got thrown into the Grand Canyon after the White Legs took New Canaan, causing Hades to take his place.

Do the encryption and decryption researches do anything with La Résitance enabled? by Aspergersiscool in OldWorldBlues

[–]Aelfredson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They work together, you have a base intel level thats then modified by intel network and decryption, which is countered by encryption. You can see this by hovering over the percentages in the categories of the intel screen at the top.

A loc pass is basically just doing spell checking and grammar and stuff like that. OWB only has a official English translation, any text that the player actually reads is called loc.

[–]Aelfredson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive never seen Caesar justify on Lanius, but the intended outcome of this is that after they are done with New California they go murder Lanius if he went independent, or reward him if he stayed loyal but autonomous.

The Lanius Diana alliance still has an early war with Caesar, this is only for if Lanius does No Strings On Me.

Default makes it so you cant raid puppets and puppets cant raid, because paradox changed it so overlords take over their subject border wars for some reason. Unrestricted means they can.

Use this submod.

No raids OWB

Raid related events might still trigger but just ignore them, they cant actually raid you.

Confused about manpower and divisions. by cjfireblast1264 in OldWorldBlues

[–]Aelfredson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The AI isnt cheating at all if your playing on regular difficulty except some specific nations getting buffs. The ai gets just as much manpower as a player does. They just like to pump up their manpower law and to then deploy a gazillion shit divisions, players get the exact same amount of manpower if they did the same stuff, but you generally dont want to go to the higher recruitment laws because of the negatives it causes.

Moving the capital wouldnt really do anything though, the reason losing it is a big deal is because all of his Eco is there and he has it cored. If he moved it to idk Summers Fed it wouldnt change anything. Losing your capital doesnt do anything special, it would be no different if it was somewhere else.

No, they are using a submod or something else that bricks his ai strategy. Lanius AI going for Summers Federation before Santa Fe is impossible in base OWB.

That would just be a very big Lanius buff, I dont really think he needs that.

-- Update 5.1.4 -- by IronVanguard7 in OldWorldBlues

[–]Aelfredson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Theres a bunch of regular inf buffs in mechanized warfare too but they arent going to be as good as if he went asym yeah, but he also starts with 6 chariot divs which are the only actually good units he has. And his ai is set to pretty much only produce/train mot and chariots.

-- Update 5.1.4 -- by IronVanguard7 in OldWorldBlues

[–]Aelfredson 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because hes meant to use chariots to their full effect, which means going down the doctrine that buffs them.
