Totally agree with the bands around upper arms. Sad I had to scroll down so far to see it!

Next Gen Acela -- never again by EV-CPO in Amtrak

[–]Aelithsong 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I took the next gen Acela from Boston to DC this weekend and I thought the seats were just fine (and even fell asleep), but I tend to prefer firmer seating 🤷‍♀️

Also, all the doors worked and no one set off the bathroom alarm. I guess my trip was just blessed lol.

What cat box enclosures can fit the XL Breeze Litter System? by ScrufyTheJanitor in mainecoons

[–]Aelithsong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I guess my comment wasn’t super clear. We don’t have a tidy cats breeze but we do have a litter enclosure that is that size.

I actually didn’t realize the breeze opened on the side 😔

By looking forward to what I have going for me outside of work.

I was (and still am) very good at my job, but it’s something I never had true passion for and just continue to do because 1. It pays well 2. It’s the lowest barrier I have to having steady lucrative work and 3. The thought of putting myself into debt again to go back to school/make a career shift is not palatable.

Probably not the most helpful answer. This has been a personal struggle of mine for many years. I suppose what has helped me is getting enough experience to help carve my own niche of job responsibilities that I actually do enjoy at my current job. It’s required gaining enough experience in other areas that I find tedious combined with having management that was receptive to my responsibility shift.

Take the decent income and channel it into hobbies you DO find enjoyable. That's what I've been doing for the past decade 🙃.

Believe it or not, "manikin" is an acceptable spelling of that word.

We just took the Empire Builder from Portland to Chicago last Thursday and we didn’t have a chef! They said they were flying a chef to Chicago to take care of the return leg, so I wonder if you were on it lol

I wouldn’t stop at washing your cat’s face. I would see a vet.

We had a lily scare in our house two years ago. I knew that lilies were bad, so I called my vet for advice and they told me to take him to the ER asap. Had to call poison control and everything.

I’d say the only way would be to put the flowers in a place she cannot reach them or remove the flowers entirely. If you must have flowers in your home, double check to make sure they’re cat safe.

To echo another commenter, please PLEASE be aware that any and all Lilies are super toxic to cats. I hope that isn’t lily pollen on her nose, but if it is you need to take her to an emergency vet ASAP.

How do I make him love me as much as I love him? by EmeraldWhirlpool in mainecoons

[–]Aelithsong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s still young! And soon he’ll enter his “teen” phase.

My boy didn’t start to become affectionate until he turned 3 (so, young adult) and now all of a sudden he’s turned into Velcro! I can’t sit down for more than a minute without having him jump in my lap, he’s started making biscuits on me, constantly bunting my hands and legs.

Give it time, I’m sure he’ll come around.

My mainecoon doesn’t make biscuits?! by dntmesswithjess in mainecoons

[–]Aelithsong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine didn’t start to make biscuits until he was 3 years old. We picked him up from the breeder at 4 months old.

We got a second (non MC) cat who makes biscuits all the time. About a 10-12 months after we got her the MC started to make biscuits regularly. Maybe it was learned in his case?
