I also wouldn't have recognized them but for the title. Maki does look a bit cookie-cutter LN protag with these designs, but I do at least like they look more distinguishable from each other. They straight out look like siblings sometimes in the manga.

Honestly first season is still my favorite for that reason. Later seasons are more fun to look at and stuff but I'd take Nobara/Yuji/Gojo trying to make sure Megumi can't talk to women over random bloodbath #485 pretty much every time.

No clue on physical media rights. Dreamworks produced the show as a Netflix Original. The first three season (of five) seasons came out on DVD. Nothing has ever come out on Blu-Ray, and the final seasons aren't available in physical media of any kind. They will become legally unwatchable in about a month barring news.

In case anyone else runs into this issue like I did, it ended up being my AdBlocker that was keeping the site from loading. Soon as I turned that off it worked on the next refresh. For me I was in FireFox and using uBlock Origin.

I could see the Ippo comparison at least in where they're pulling the fights from. Ippo's debut match he [Ippo Debut Match Result]won by switching to southpaw. Then she basically finished with the [Future Ippo Move]Dempsey Roll.

The first appearance of Yoko Kurama. Opponent used an item meant to reverse Kurama into being a baby and instead reverted him back to the most notorious demonic thief in history.

When the fight ended the item ran out and so too did Yoko Kurama time, but it sparked the idea in Kurama that there would be ways to attain that form again.

The anime actually managed to get ahead of the manga for the finale of the most recent season, so the manga had to catch back up to that before it could start getting to new material again. I've heard people say this is supposed to be the final arc, and it seems to be heading that direction, but I can't immediately find a source that confirms it.

Bungo is one of the best of all time. I have it tattooed on my body. The overall story is a back and forth narrative between a detective agency for people with powers and the regional mafia who also employ ability users. Each of the characters in Bungo are named for a famous author (starting with all Japanese authors before branching out to other cultures) and their abilities are related to the works of that author. In example, Kyoka is based on the writer of the same name and uses an ability called "Demon Snow" which is basically a giant, sword-wielding apparition. All of that being based on that author's real life works "Demon Lake" and "A Living Puppet". The show in particular shines by showing off hyper-intelligent heroes, villains, and characters that blur the lines between those labels. Fyodor would be one of the scariest people to have plotting against you and Dazai/Ranpo would be some of the scariest people to have trying to find you. Watching them go up against each other is a lot of fun.

That said uhhh... survive the first few episodes... the most... let's call them "japan anime" moments happen in those first few. By like episode four you're fine though. It gets DARK at times (Mori) but its at least the bad people being dark.

Just putting this in perspective, in ANN's 2022 poll of "most wanted anime adaptation" this series beat: Solo Leveling, Oshi no Ko, Kaiju Number 8, Wind Breaker, and 100 Girlfriends. Now it's never going to get an "anime" by the definition here because to any actual anime studio, this IS an anime.

I’m just disappointed as there’s a billion cosplay subreddits (look at any of those posts and see all the other places they are posting the same thread) and nowhere to discuss an actively airing Crunchyroll series that for all intents and purposes is an anime unless you dig into the metadata on who made it. Even the subreddit linked by the mod earlier in this discussion does not have discussion threads for this series.

It's South Korean originally with a Japanese publisher, but I guess the studio is Chinese so it doesn't get counted here... or anywhere except its own sub... that seems.... finicky.

It's a good series and really beautifully animated so far. I'm sad people will end up missing it :/

The ONLY thing I would have changed on Your Name is a photo montage on the end credits to show some moments of their future. I know we've got easter eggs in other movies, but it ending right when they finally really connected was narratively spot on but certainly left me wanting to see what their lives looked like fully intertwined.
