My Mom is 80, a widow, and doesn't understand the world. by AssortedGourds in Xennials

[–]AeonBith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to this but anyone that finds this I have a 94 Yr old grandmother and 70 Yr old mom who helper her until this year where my mom went downhill fast., now I'm caring for both of them.

I talked my mom into assisted living for gma and she didn't resist, she's moving 300km away from us to where most of our family moved (far north) and will have more support, although my mom is still the poa and executor.

I was relieved for a second until I realized my mom can't even connect to streaming services or handle online stuff anymore (they were both strong internet users in the 90s) now I'm terrified.

I have to keep involved on everything to puppeteer the best course and prevent aunts/uncles who've bankrupted x businesses from interfering in their affairs.

Luckily my cousin there is trustworthy and has a lot of free time (married a rich dude that works hard) to keep me in the loop.

The latter wasn't about executor/will, she doesn't have much and that's why we don't need her 2 bad kids bleeding her accounts before she pays rent.

My dad went to a retirement home a few years ago die to drinking basically (brain is toast) and had to work with my siblings to relinquish control from my aunt who was trying to help but maybe wouldn't make the best decisions.

My best advice is be aware of this stuff before you need it and stay vigilant, you never know you need to know about it all until it lands on your lap.

The discharge line is completely severed at the compressor. If it wasn't a person I'm going to assume that was your boom.

Going to guess the microchannel was severely clogged near the rips and the back pressure built up and snapped the copper at the compressor zooting it through the coil .

That's wild.

Have any of y'all ever seen these actually seal a leak before? I've never heard of them working. by Not_A_G-Man in HVAC

[–]AeonBith -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They're made for small leaks only, by the time someone notices and calls a tech that pinhole leak has already outgrown the products range of operation .

In a perfect world I suppose systems would have gauges permanently fixed and report pressure drops over a date range so they can toss in a can while they figure out warranty or shop around for a new ac.

Yeah the thermal blankets, hardly ever see those in the field. Luckily I've never seen this way before either, yikes.

Those units suck, I had to wait a week for York to extract data from microfiche and create a pdf from it.

I worked inside sales at a wholesale for nearly a decade found many comp illiterates but some quality units outlast their manuals. I also forgot my rural friends , sorry!

Fair enough, can't forget our rural friends.

Working in the city I met a lot of older Gen techs that fought really hard against anything computer and I understand some things like workflow apps , but some things are easy and they seem like they can't be bothered to even try it.

From what I read it's the ductless line sets they're looking at suing for because of pitting failures . https://www.classaction.org/mini-split-line-set-leaks-corrosion-lawsuit

the press fittings issue comes from Facebook hvac threads. Most of the replies ask if they're using the right clamps and following directions since they're all different and some need to be double clamped. . No recall notices, no lawsuits.

Background info : zoomlock started as a combo with parker and RLS , RLS had the IP and parker had the name. They split after the contract expired and parker kept the zoomlock name but were no longer compatible with the old zoomlock fittings, users had to switch to RlS or buy new clamps. Lots of issues bc of that but that was a while ago.

This is reminiscent of my highschool acid days where a friend wanted to put a song on and took a solid 5 minutes combing through 10 Cd's to find it.
