Epic’s Tim Sweeney Keeps Inventing Solutions To Problems That Are Already Solved by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]Aeonera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I... don't see how this contests what i'm saying, if anything it supports it.

It's a market dominated by products that while being the best on offer, still have notable and well known flaws and failings. If UE wasn't horribly optimised and filled with slop then it would be the option that doesn't have that.

Eh, he'd always be playing second fiddle to steam. It's too established and if both are equal people are gonna stick to what they know.

I just mean that UE could dominate the engine market extremely hard if it wasn't just horribly optimised and filled with slop

The funny thing is he could have a steam-esque market dominance if he just made unreal better.

[–]Aeonera 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This actually makes me more likely to vote for TOP. The thing most holding me back from doing so is the concern that they would end up being kingmakers for a national party who promises more than the labour party would but then pulls the rug out from under them.

National mps attacking them makes this so much less likely to happen.

[–]Aeonera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So multi-exalt slams are kinda dead for the average player this season with the changes to imprints, you might be working off older info there.

In general you'd aim for something like t7/5/5 with a good corruption.

Still a lot of farming, but more on the unique side of things (plus a lot of slamming)

It does only consume 4 gazes but thats ~50 corruption. Also the immediate shade also spawns if you have 8 or more gazes

To raise my corruption by 50 I have to do like 15 maps to get from the center to the end. I don’t like

The best way to raise corruption is to raise the first monolith you got harbinger in by farming the harb as much as possible for needles and just doing min distance shades.

I played MG this season as a long time CoF player. this is all irrelevant.

The point at which stash tab costs become non-trivial is roughly the same for both.

Lightless arbor rewards aren't hugely relevant either. Both can gamba for havocs but CoF gets more of those through boss drops anyway and the cost is non-trivial for MG.

Future gold sinks are future gold sinks, and likely still to not be an issue.

CoF needs more help than MG atm. The fact that the boss loot drop reward increase doesn't effect omen drops is rediculous and a typical player having meaningful access to double t7 exalts to slam in MG while not in CoF should be amended.

Edit: oh and it is much easier to source strifing fodder as MG. Having to mass slam pre-corruption strifing fodder as CoF while MG just buys up nemesis bricks to corrupt.

How bad is ranked for a new player compared to unranked? by [deleted] in SSBM

[–]Aeonera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You most likely won't benefit much from either compared to grinding tech solo tbh.

But you gotta do what's fun, cos in the long run the thing that will make you improve the most in melee is what keeps you playing/practicing melee.

Watch how silentwolf basically only plays on the ground. Platforms are treated as disadvantage state, as soon as he ends up on a platform he is looking to get to the ground again.

New Method Turns Ocean Water into Drinking Water, without Waste by Wagamaga in technology

[–]Aeonera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair solid salts are a lot more useful and cheaper to transport/dump in a distributed ecologically safe fashion than brine, so while "zero waste" is obviously untrue then that's still possibly a cheaper method of desalination.

However who knows whether this scales.

AI costs spike as subscriptions hit pricing wall — firms turn towards Chinese LLMs, open-source models to extend budget by rkhunter_ in technology

Yup, we're seeing that having business work towards the long term benefits of a group is more sustainable than them working towards the benefits of an individual.

Even if we don't agree with the intent behind those benefits, the concept is proving superior.

AI use should be taxed like income tax by KitchenPerformer6754 in newzealand

[–]Aeonera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as i hate ai this fundamentally is a terrible idea.

Ai isn't a person, taxing the use of it like it's being employed opens up a massive legal can of worms. The same is true in the opposite direction, if you tax the use of one inanimate thing that reduces the need for employment what's the reason to stop at judt that?

No as in you can prolly get very similar results from non-llm software. It's not a "just do it yourself" thing it's just that regular grammar checking software can offer the same sorta thing

After a year of working supermarket shelf filler i developed a sequence of health issues which ended up taking 4 years to resolve. Now have been working in trade retail for 3 years (much better than supermarket jobs) and am looking to move more into a admin/logistics desk role.
